So, I have been a pack a day smoker for over 10 years (smoked for 14 all together). A friend of mine was telling me about this new electronic cigarette she and her husband use, about the flavored liquids, and how she hadn't smoked a regular cigarette (I do believe I've seen then referred to as analog, which cracks me up). Anyway, they picked one up for me because the store they use is over 3 hours away. I have no idea the name of the equipment they bought me, I just know I like it. As I've been browsing the forum, all the abbreviations, and terms have my head swimming. I had never even heard of vaping until I start searching the internet for more information (I can never do anything without feeling like I need all the information out there). By the way, I just got my ecig YESTERDAY. I've had two cigarettes since yesterday afternoon, one was with my coffee this morning, the vapor just wasn't cutting it. But I actually have hope that I will succeed in my attempts to quit this time. I've used gum, patches, inhaler, chantix, wellbutrin, and no luck. FINGERS CROSSED!

I am new to vaping too! Once you get through the first few days and find a liquid strength that works for you, it gets really easy to walk away from the pack. I have been "analog" free for 2 months, my wife and kids love it as I was a pack-a-day smoker for 30+ years. No Chantix or other meds, just vaping. I tried the 36mg and 24mg at first and now I am on the 24mg liquid to stay for awhile. just have to experiment a little. If I can do it, I know you can!! Good luck to you!!!

Congratulations. Sounds like you are on your way.

One of the first things to do is get some backups. Equipment can, and does, fail, which can send any vaper into a tailspin that leads to buying a pack of smokes.

Best of luck and don't be afraid to ask questions. Also, YouTube is a great resource for learning, as seeing it done makes it easier to understand.

Welcome to ECF. There are quite a few knowledgeable folks here who can answer any question you want, some will even throw in pictures... :)

Congratulations by the way on only have 2 cigarettes since starting. Don't worry if you have a "smoke" while you are trying to figure this vaping stuff out. For a majority of folks going from cigarettes to vaping didn't happen over night. Many of us have smoked again during our entrance into the vaping world, no big deal.

Support is here if you need it, we love stories and pictures. You are lucky that there are Vapor Stores in the Tulsa area and quite a few in the Oklahoma City area if your up for a road trip.

I tried it a year and a half back and started with the little one that looks like a real cig but i got tired of having to refill it every few mins cause i just would not last long enough the batteries would die and the carrying case could not keep them charged enough for me and i got tired of either having juice driping down the cig and in to my cloths or in my mouth when i was puffing so i went back to regular cigs reasently my wife got prego and smoking makes here sic so i pulled that old kit back out and used it again but i still got the same anoying problems so i decided to think about what kind of a smoker i am and what irratated me about the cig looking one and decided to go BIG or go home. i searched the web and looked for the the things i wanted and so far thanks to e-Cigarette Replacement Parts i was able to buy the parts i wanted and i just used the old juice i had from my old kit Which i do not recommend cause it is staile and has no taste but any ways i got the parts and it only coast me 45 dollars for every thing and it works great for me the only thing i messed up with my order (that i feel was a mess up) i ordered a clearomizer instead of a tank cartomizer and its only cause i do not like the idea of Wicks i would rather have the juice drip to the atomizer cause its just one less thing to worried about when cleaning also i am going to look for one that has screw on end caps but so far the one i ordered will work fine for me it looks like a big fancy pen but i know it will last me all day long and i wont half to keep refilling it every few mins plus i can smoke it any where and no one says any thing cause it looks like a pen instead of a cig not sure if this will help you or not but it worked for me My set up is clearomizer with a (Ego-T 950 mah battery with hidden Pass thru) so i charge and puff while at my comp and when i go to work i just disconnect and go but i also just in case i also ordered a 1100mah battery so far the set up works great i just need fresh Juice

just to addon alog with my go big or go home statement i also went with a HIGH strenght juice to give that little something extra to help swap over

I think the analog term is funny too, who has digital juice? :)

Which hardware do you have?

I went through jonesing for a cig, feeling the need for a cig, automatic hand movement for cig/rolling down window and now down to occasionally having an urge

Different for everyone and you'll get there, if you start feeling it, do some extra vapes. For me what lingers the most is doing something without a cigarette that I used to always do with it, the habitual response is interesting.

Definately check out youtube and some of the "how to" videos for ecigs. I learned so much about using different cartos, clearos and juices from the various testers/experts. It really helped me understand better all the things I've learned from this amazing forum. I've been vaping for almost 2 months now, quit the analogs 4 days after trying out the e-cig. Still have faint impulses to smoke but that's to be expected after 50 yrs of the nasty habit. I just ignore the urge with reminders about how much better I feel since quitting smoking.

Allright, this is what my friend brought me. I like it. I have been looking up different shops in OKC and hoping to be able to make a road trip to Moore, saw that there are a couple there.

Thank you! That's just what I've been looking for! Turns out, I was trying to inhale on it like I would an analog cig, wasn't working near as well. :)
Some other little pearls of wisdom:

Years of smoking can degrade our sense of taste by ruining our taste buds. Good news is they can heal and return back to normal. But new vapors often complain that they can not taste their e-juice flavors. A tip is, when exhaling allow some of the vaper to escape through your nose. Our sense of taste is closely associated with our sense of taste. For example, when our nose is congested, we have trouble tasting food and drink. So use your sense of smell to help in "tasting" your juice.

Drink plenty of water. The warm vapor and the liquids used in the juice can dehydrate our mouths and throats. Dry mouth also affects your ability to taste.

Vape as much as you like. When you feel a cigarette craving, vape especially more. Allowing yourself a couple of cigarettes a day will not break any laws though if you absolutely feel you need one occassionally. Over a few days of consistant vaping, the cigarette will become less satisfying to you and the desire for one will vanish altogether.

Feel free to ask any questions you may have here on the forum. This community has vast knowledge and experience, and can provide much support to you.

I am new to vaping as well. I am a truck driver so the only thing I have had access to thus far is the ecigs sold in truck stops, Mistic to be precise. I have been able to cut down a 35 year habit of a pack or more a day to 3 or 4 a day! I have an eGo with the Clearomizer ordered and waiting at my home. I imagine I will be able to cut down even further once I start using that...hopefully all the way to zero. I am wondering how much ejuice I should order for a month supply? I only get by my home once a month if lucky and don't want to run out prematurely. I go through about one cartridge a day with the Mistics. Any suggestions?

It can vary from person to person. Since you were somewhat of a heavy smoker ... go with 24mg juice.

Ecblends has cheap sample sizes and they ship extremely fast. Good vendor to start with until you find atleast one all day vape juice. That way you don't buy a months worth of juice and find out you hate it. I'd recommend ordering 5-6 samples of what you think would sound good to you. @24mg that should last around a week+ as long as you don't chain vape like crazy. If you find a juice you really liked, order a bigger size of that juice and perhaps a few more samples/ juice from other vendors.

Wow ec has a huge selection! Thanks! I know I smoke this mistic like its going out of style when I'm driving, not sure if the increased vapor from the ego will curve that or not. The mistic seems to have a different measuring system for nic content than ejuice. It's 1.8% not a mg amount. Ec has the clearomizers too...that's very cool. So I guess for a month I would need 20 to 24 sample sized or about 100 to 120 ml? I have to think in month terms as I am all over the country and never the same route it seems. Wish they carried juice at the truck stops...lol.

as someone who gets to travel alot I would suggest getting more info about retail locations around the country so you always have a cool place to stop and get supplies. i know some of the online venders offer in store pickup as well. you could easily order online and tell em when youll be by, im sure they would be happy to work with you.

as for how much? rough estimates are around 30 - 40 ml a month but my desk is lttered with little bottles I couldnt even begin to estimate what i use at this point lol

1.8% is roughly equal to 18mg. If you're use to 18 and don't seem to run out of it quickly I would just stick with it.

The amount you need varies. Some people buy 12mg and vape all day long. Not as cost effective as buying higher nic levels and vaping more like you would with a cig.

If you are a moderate vaper I'd say 2-3ml a day should work well. It's much cheaper to buy a single flavor in bulk though.

If you like tobacco flavors ... ecblends 7 leaf and RY4 are solid juices.

Also some vendors like tastyvapor.us allow you to buy a juice in higher nic levels to dilute. You buy the high nic juice then mix it down with their doublers (0mg nic juice) which they sell at a cheaper price. Saves lots of money in the long run if you don't want to make your own juices (cheapest option).
