I assume by battery upgrade your talking about the mod itself, not the batteries it takes. AW-IMR is a type of battery that differs from Lithium Ion batteries, like the ones in your cell phone. They don't have a chip or anything in them that will cut off power when depleted too far. A little battery safety research on the forum will tell you all you need to know about the batteries themselves.

However, not all mods take a replaceable battery. If your looking into an affordable upgrade for the device itself, the Itaste MVP2 is one of the most highly recommended on the forum, for good reason. It's a good step in to the advanced world of electronic cigarettes for a whole host of reasons.

Battery life is probably 4x higher than what your using. Depending on how you vape, it has potential to last a week before needing a charge. Me, it would probably last a day and a half. Which is pretty outstanding for my needs.

It's a quality piece. It looks nice, and has closer to a direct current chip than other devices. Meaning that the flow of electricity to your topper (atty) is smoother, resulting in a more pleasurable vape and a tastier vape. Those qualities are subjective though. There's far too much argument on this forum about those nitty gritty details, but it's a factor to consider.

Variable voltage/Wattage. If you don't already know about this, you soon will. Range of volts is 3.3-5.0 if I'm not mistaken. More than enough to suit your current needs and most of mine too. It has an accurate ohm checker built in. You can read the resistance of your atty's and therefore tune your vape to your needs. It has wattage mode as well, which basically auto adjusts the power so that the vape is in theory, the same no matter what atomizer you put on it because it produces the same power at any resistance (ohms) atty. In theory.

These can be had for $40 bucks. I wouldn't pay a dime more. I scored mine on eBay.

If you want a (in my opinion) more quality device, or the box form deters you, look into the Provari. I was shocked at the price when I started researching on the forum. Simply couldn't believe it or justify it at the time. Back then, I had an EGO twist. Worked fine for what it was. I don't need to explain the merits of the Provari, because in all honesty, it's probably outside the scope of this thread, and I'm not in the mood to start another Provari Vs (Any other device here).

Regarding tanks, I prefer genesis style attys. I own a Russian 91% (again both are probably outside the scope of this thread) but the Genesis always comes out on top for me. Mine is a Pyrex RSST. My buddy has an Aspire Nautilus, and it really is a nice vape. Mini Protank II's are a far superior vape to the standard Protanks in my opinion.

Whew. Out of breath. Hope that helps lol

Edit: the Vision Spinner is also a very nice device. I bought one for my wife because she didn't want to have to mess with the menu's and stuff on more advanced devices. They are a very solid piece as well and worth the money

this was awesome and super helpful thanks so much

For a battery upgrade, I'd suggest either the iTaste VV3 (if you like the stick form-factor like your current ego-t batteries) or the MVP2. Or do what I did and get both! I don't have one myself, but I suspect that some of the trouble you could be encountering with the Protank 3 could be due to its use of dual coils and the fact that a dual coil requires more power to function effectively.
