I've been vaping for about 4 days now and today I am really dizzy and spacey, is it possible for me to have too much nicotine? Also, I am also craving a cig, I believe it to be more psychological, but it doesn't appear to go away? How long did it take for you guys psychological cravings to completely disappate? Thanks in advance for your responses.

hello and welcome.

I've been vaping since 2/27. Last analog smoked 3/17. To be honest, the craving for cigarettes hasn't gone away completely. But at least I have the self discipline / control not to reach for an analog but instead to reach for my vape.

What is your current setup and amount of nic in your juice?

When I started vaping, I went through some mild withdrawal for 2-3 weeks, and I do think it was from the other chemicals in cigarettes. It's my understanding that many (all?) of those chemicals were added to keep you hooked on cigarettes, so it makes sense. Knowing I was still getting my nicotine was a comfort and got me through it.

I took 10 or so days of dual use, cutting back my smokes more each day until I was down to none. I had to have that bit of security, rather than just stopping all at once. The hand to mouth action that vaping provides pretty much took care of any psychological factors for me.

Yes, it is possible to get too much nic. For me, the symptom was a terrible headache, but others have reported other symptoms. If you can give more details, like how much you smoked, what gear you are using and nic levels of your e-liquid, that might be helpful in determining what is going on.

Not only is 24 mg pretty high, but it is also pretty harsh to vape. For me, anything above 12mg gets too "peppery". Your coil resistance also makes a difference. If you're sub-ohming then 24mg is waaaaaaay too high. Try matching your nic to your resistance. If you're 1.8 ohms, then vape 18mg max. If you're .5 ohms then vape 5 or 6 max.

I had no problems dropping the cigs at all, despite having tried a hundred times before. It was actually pretty easy. When you want a cigarette, just think about something else. It's thinking about it that makes it so difficult, like being getting wound up waiting for a package to arrive in the mail. Do that and vape to your heart's content and you'll be surprised at how easy it is.

If you feel "woozy" at times yet are stiil craving tobacco cigs it is due to your body wanting the "other" additives that are in tobacco, this should pass, as stated above, in a couple weeks, give or take.

Due to the well ingrained hand to mouth habit, overdoing it a bit when we happen to have a higher strength liquid in our hands is not surprising. Having different strengths available is very helpful to us though as when we are only able to vape a few puffs like on a 10min. (smoke?) break the higher strength is preferable, whereas when we have lots of time to vape ie. sitting in front of the tv or while driving a lower level (or 0nic.) would be preferable.

When you begin to feel the symptoms of too much, simply take a little "breather" and then go to the low or no nic set-up. This will require a couple of complete set-ups however, or at least a couple of tanks loaded with different strength nic. Cheers.

ed. Oh and welcome to the forum, take your time and relax, it does get easier and easier. Congratulations on switching. Welcome to the light side.

Welcome! Yes the cravings were bad for me too for about a month. It is the additives and others things in cigs that makes your brain tell you that you want a cig. I had to get tough with my brain and say vape first. I did vape and smoke for about 6 wks and that made it easier. You will find a cig tastes terrible compared to vaping so hang in there :) I think you need some lower Nic to chain vape you because are getting plenty of Nic at 24, so as day goes on go to 12 or 6 so you can still vape but not over do the Nic.

Your getting some good advice here. Having two setups or at least two similar/same tanks with different amounts of nicotine loaded is (IMHO) ideal.
    • when the urge to fill the 'motor reflex' thing kicks in, vape on the 0mg or low mg nicotine setup
    • when the urge to light up a 'stinky' thing kicks in, grab the higher mg nicotine setup and take a few draws on that
with time you may eventually settle on one blend of nicotine strength and learn how to regulate your vaping habit(s) so that you don't have cravings nor are you OD'ing on nicotine.

To add something that hasn't been said, remember to drink water, when you vape you need more water than when you smoked, food also helps. I used to smoke 4 cigs and have a cup of coffee before breakfast without a problem, I can't do that with vaping, I need some food and water in the morning 30min into the day or I start feeling dizzy.

It means using a coil that is lower than 1 ohm. Vape shops tend to push sub-ohm kits on unsuspecting new vapers because it uses a lot more juice. Remember, the faster you go through the juice, the more nicotine you're getting. That's why people who sub-ohm use a lower nicotine level. I use a 1.8 ohm coil and 12mg of nicotine and that works great for me.
