So I started vaping maybe a month or two ago. Started off using a Kanger EVOD set and after getting an Aerotank Mini I decided to step the battery up a bit too. My brand-new Kanger Ipow arrived yesterday. Gotta say I love it but I'm wondering what a way is to find the best voltage is for any given tank since my Aerotank and cheap CE-5's are not exactly alike in quality/ build. Plus I'm not totally sure what the wrong voltage could do so I want to be cautious. Any help is appreciated, Thanks!

Start at the lowest setting and work your way up 1 increment at a time, if it starts to taste burnt, back down a notch or two and that should be "the spot" just make a not of where each tank + flavor (you may find different flavors in the same type of tank are better at different settings) makes you happy. Everyone has their own sweet spot(s), you just have to find yours now :D

Check the resistance of your coil then add 2.1. Set your voltage to the sum total, after that just adjust up or down to taste. Example; 1.5 ohms + 2.1 = 3.6 volts. This is the rule of thumb formula that I use and it gets me really close to my sweet spot fast. I have found this chart very helpful.

Thank you! I just didn't want to ruin an atomizer by setting it to high. I wanted to get into the whole VTR/ Mod world but I hardly know a thing about voltage/wattage!

See I figured there had to be ways to get this done, is there any rule of thumb for wattage?

Start low and work your way up. Dual coil clearos will require more volts or watts than single. Some flavors will be better lower and others higher. Its really a matter of experimenting to find what you like :) The worst case scenario is that it will taste burnt if you turn it to high, so you dial it down a notch or two and no permanent damage is done.

Also - remember to set watts OR volts. You cannot set both. Whichever mode you set last is the actual mode you are operating in :)

So if I'm on a VTR, and I set my voltage to (random numbers!) 15 then I click again and set the wattage to 20. The voltage id set wouldn't matter and I'd be running on 20 watts?

You can only set volts or watts. The device will "calculate" the corresponding value. Watts = Volts * Volts / Resistance. Ohms Law, basically... Follow CreepyLady's advice. Set low and work your way up. Back down when slightly burnt

You're either in voltage mode or wattage mode. In voltage mode, the watts are mathematically related to the volts and the resistance (atomizer ohms, in this case). In wattage mode, the volts are related in the same way.

I also subscribe to the atomizer ohms +2.1 to get a starting voltage, and that will give you somewhere in the 8 watt range. If I'm in VW mode, I'll usually start out around...8 watts!
