I've smoked for 2 years and recently am quiting. I'm currently on day 3 of dropping analogs and really having a hard time staying off. I'm turning to E-Cigs as an alternative and I'm quiet confused at the moment with everything. The only local brand I can buy are from Starter Kits | SmokeBot Electronic Cigarettes which are sold at dealers in town. I don't know how good they are or if I should wait for an online order.

I'm all about "any port in a storm". If quitting immediately and not going back is imperative to you, here's my advice. Purchase what you can reasonably of a useable e-cig that is close to you and can be immediately gotten and use that while figuring out and ordering what will be the better choice. Waiting for the mail can often suck hard when you are desperate.

Value Vapor and Aquavapor have a lot of good inexpensive kits with chargers that you'll be pretty happy with.

Welcome Kung!

I agree with the advice, to do a little research first.
Watch some YouTube videos, there's alot there on just about every model of PV out there.
Ask some more questions here, read and learn.

There are several factors that may affect your overall experience and the suggestions
you get, may help you make a choice that will give a satisfying experience.

It does matter how much of a smoker you are, etc....so maybe give everyone a little more
info on your present habits.

Good Luck on your journey!
It will be very addicting as well.....but a good one!

In the sticky threads at the top of New Members forum are a bunch of useful things, most especially the Newbie videos and the Library thread which will lead you to a multi-part illustrated guide. Check those out - many popular models are mentioned by their real names. And if some interest you, you can find more review and comparison videos for various models on Youtube. Even 2 days of research can help you buy a unit that that performs well and is right for you.

All cigarette-shaped and pen-shaped e-cigarettes are made by a handful of Chinese companies. All of the popular ones can be purchased online under their original model names or numbers for a reasonable price. But other companies like mall shops and fancy-looking websites rebrand them with their own name and jack the prices up. In addition, if you buy a rebranded model and don't know what model it really is, you could be locked into one expensive supplier for all of your replacement parts etc. And even worse, some use modified versions that purposely make it more difficult to refill. It's best to go with a non-rebranded model unless you know what you are buying (what model it really is), whether it's a good model. and whether you are paying too much. As a reference, most average-size ecigarette batteries are $10-15 each, maybe $18 in a fancy color. Most atomizers are $8-10. Cartomizers run about $8 for 5 (less if empty). I saw one rebrander that charged $50 for a battery!

I'll agree with the several other posts that recommended you watch the video series "A guide for newbies, in particular, broke newbies" Whether you are broke or filthy rich, this video series is full of good info. And Mistress Nomad seems pretty cool too, which never hurts. Don't make the mistake of thinking you have to have something that closely looks like a "real cigarette". Many ECF members have fallen into that trap. The short battery life and inconsistent vapor production will drive you batty in the end. If/when you do decide to go with a PV, make sure you buy the following: 1) a few back-up atomizers 2) plenty of eJuice. Average user is between 2 and 3ml of juice per day. Nicotine level is a bit subjective. There are Marlboro Red 3 PAD smokers who were just fine @ 12 mg and there are Capri ultra light smokers who needed 36mg. So there really is no direct correlation between how much you smoked of your brand and how much nic your juice will need to be. I would suggest ordering a couple different levels of nicotine in your initial juice orders until you find a nic level that is comfortable for you. Comfortable for me meant feeling like i had satisfied the craving, and not feeling like i needed to suck on a PV constantly to make that happen. That level is going to be up to you to determine.

Best of luck to you,

Phorbin

+1, agreed. I started with a model, still don't know what kind it was, that was available to me immediately and then researched to find a more permanent pv. I soon found out that buying pv is like getting a tattoo, once you get one, you start looking for your second, then third, and so on. If you can afford it, I say get the locally available model to give it a try then begin the search for your next model. I still keep my first no-name model as a back-up or when I'm feeling a little nostalgic!

I personally would order online. You should be able to pick up a 510 kit for $30 or less which includes two complete e cigs plus a charger, and usually a few cartridges that contain some liquid (5 cartridges will last a maximum of 5 days to a light smoker)

The 510s work great because there are many battery upgrade options for the 510 including ego, and like brands that offer a 5-6 hour battery, vs the 2 hour battery when you are a moderate smoker.

I have both a 510 kit and a couple of ego kits, and rarely do I use my 510s unless I need something smaller and low key, or unless my egos are charging.

I would only buy from your local shop if the price is reasonable. I bet if you order one of these kits from Liberty Flights, you will have it in 5-6 days if you order it today.

Thanks for all your support and insight! I did purchase the SmokeBot PV earlier today and I'm quiet happy with its performance. It was obviously overpriced with out the door at $90, good thing I have a lot of money to spare. Pretty much the reason for doing this on a limb was it saved me from buying a pack of analogs which I would of totally regretted. But now I'm going to do more in depth research in a quality PV and have the one I'm currently using hold me off analogs till my order arrives.

One thing I love about my purchase though is that it came with a portable charger that I love.
