(i had asked this in someone elses thread, then thought it was smarter to just ask it outright rather then "thread jack!")

As a new vaper i am still on the flavor hunt, and having bought a bunch of 5ml samples am not finding a primary flavor yet.. I was a winston smoker, and enjoy a natural tobacco flavor without a ton of sweetness which i feel i am getting in EVERY tobacco flavor i try.

Burnt sugar, carmel, butterscotch notes, etc etc etc over and over. I'm a black coffee drinker damnit, it's too much sweet! I have also discovered i'm a bit sensative to PG and would prefer a mix to be no more then 50% if possible, on the straight dekang juices, i coughed and felt chest tightness and throat scratchness far more then i would like.

Any thing match up to those specs? (Like a Nat sherman/winston?)

(My samples were from madvapes/ecblends. I have liked ONLY the turkish (desert gold? 50/50) for tobacco-ish flavors so far. One tasted like musky colonge, the rest variations on sweet, less sweet, and too sweet.

All over the place
I just saw your post about not wanting to thread jack. The vast majority of threads are malleable and flexible and if you have a question about a topic that is currently being covered, it is best to jump right on in--a lot of members don't want to answer the same question in a separate thread while there is another one similar that is still kicking. But, to answer your question: Try Goodejuice's Organic Tobacco #1 eJuice [GJLIQOT1] - $4.99 :, or BWB Backo. I hope you find what you are looking for becasue I believe it is well within your reach!

You can also find juice lots members have forsale in the forsale section of the forums. You can trade etc .. This has saved me some money and allowed me to try more flavors ... Hope that helps you some!! I like sweet tobacco flavors so I cant suggest much!! Kamol from myvaporstore.com is a more harsh tobacco flavor. I used to use it when I drank beer ..

I'm fairly new to vaping, but from what I've read some of the sweetness comes from the nicotine itself. When you burn it in a stinky, the sweetness disappears. No doubt others will be able to confirm of deny this.
My brand of choice was Marlboro (LIGHTS more recently) but I have found that my tastes have adapted a bit, and I now like a bit of sweetness. (I use a Marboro-type flavour with added caramel and vanilla; a bit like an RY4, but MUCH nicer than the 'off the shelf' RY4 I tried).
Slight digression there - apologies! By all means try the flavours suggested by others here, but it may be that allowing your taste to adapt a little may work in the long run (although I used to buy only Marlboro, if I ran out of cigarettes, it's amazing ho just about any brand borrowed off a friendly face would do just as well...!)

Just an observation, most of the tobacco flavors need to be steeped (aged) for a long while to let the flavors blend. A buddy of mine is a serious tobacco flavor user and he's told me that he's let some of the juices steep for a month with the cap off before they tasted good.

As for me, I've found I like Dragon's Tear from ECBlends - but only after it's steeped for a few weeks...

when you refer to steeping, do you mean essentially just to leave the juice alone for a while before attempting to use it, or do you mean it has to be loaded into a cart and THEN left? That seems like i would need alot of spare carts to rotate/age.

I had noticed some flavors from my samples changed after a couple days, mostly for the better. One that seemed rather flavorless, seems to have much more flavor and be clearly identifable after a couple days.

Somewhere out there
You may like something like Perque Black, it is not my fav because it has a bit of an ash taste but it is definitely not sweet. I just tried Turkish Tobacco from Halo, it is good. I also just tried Couramin Pipe Tobacco, love it very smooth. Takes some trying things to find what you really like. Best of luck! bnrk

I'm still relatively new but have found that steeping usually means to leave your e-liquid in a cool dark place (closet, drawer, or pantry, for example) for a period of time. The period of time varies and I have seen some say to steep for a month! Some e-liquids come with the phrase "Born On" so that you can tell if it has been steeped or not. Some actually use hot water baths and place the open e-liquid bottles in them (not submerged but standing up so the tops don't get water in them) for short periods of time. Some of these folks go farther by then steeping (Cool dark place) afterwards.
I've just started in the DIY e-liquid learning curve and found that hardly any tobacco flavors, that are freshly mixed, don't recommend at least one week steeping.
Re: Winston flavored e-liquid. I've tried the Black Mountain from Dark City Vapor and it reminded me of the Winston 100's I used to smoke a long time ago.'

Tobacco Juices

This is mainly my subjective opinion for what it's worth...just trying to help.

I also smoked Winstons and was looking for something to match up to it. When I tried Virginia from Backwoods Brew, that was it. The ONE. It has a touch of sweetness, but VERY subtle. If you find it to be too much, then go with Backo.
I really swear by Virginia because when I had started vaping, I was still smoking as well, albeit much less. When I stumbled upon BWB Virginia, I tried vaping it side by side while smoking a Winston. It's not exactly the same, but it definitely gave me the same satisfaction. It's not like a burning cigarette, but more like the smell that you get from a newly opened pack. Good stuff.

I'm a returning vaper (took about a year off before trying to quit again), and I'm having success now. I too am looking for a non-sweet tobacco. What I've found that I like is Johnson Creek's Red Oak Domestic. People either love it or hate it, and I wasn't crazy about it at first, but I keep returning to it simply because it is not sweet while so many others are (even if they claim to not be sweet). It's really growing on me and I think it might become my daily vape.

One note though... I quit vaping for a year, so this juice has been steeping for a year in the bottle. I do remember hating it when I first got it, but now it's great. I'm really hoping that it's because I am vaping at ~5volts now and not that it has aged so much. I can't wait a year for it to get good when I re-order! lol

Anyway good luck.

MikeB I think is on to something... I hve a Blu disposable still (3 months old, alkaline battery lol) and I hit on it... Im cig free about 3 months and of all my liquids this Blu (using Johnson Creek) is far from sweet and reminds me of a cigarette flavor. Not a rich tobacco flavor mind you. Its smoky, ashy, bitter, not sweet. Artificial tasting. But it meets the criteria.

Johnson Creek would get my vote in this instance. Smokeless Image's Cowboy/Country has the taste your looking for I think also. But the PG ratio is on the higher side. But it tastes bitter and ashy if you will. A good second choice.

Second Mr. Mann's thread recommendations above. Highly informative for those on the hunt for tobaccos.

Also second his opinion of Want2Vape's tobaccos. I ordered Vapenstein's Paris and London. I was afraid they might be too "pipe-ish" for me, but they're not. They are straight up tobacco flavors with no artificial / chemical undertones or added "sweetness."

Anybody serious about a straight tobacco vape should probably try these, IMO.

Turns out, now that I have those two excellent juices as a basis for comparison, I prefer other "tobaccos." Particularly Mountain Vapor's Bacconut, Turkish and Maple Cured.

And, of course, Boba's Bounty. I don't consider it a "tobacco," though some do. I don't know what it is. Nobody else seems to know either. All I know is that I loved it out of the bottle and instantly understood why it's a unique, much-loved all-time classic vape.

But I'm glad I have the Paris and London. They'll be a great "sometimes" and specialty vape for me. And I certainly understand why some might consider them their all-day vape. For what they are, they're terrific.

Yea, I have to agree. It doesn't taste exactly like a real tobacco, but I am starting to have doubts if it is possible for anything to until the science advances to the point they can analyze real smoke and reproduce the safe parts artificially. That said, Johnson Creek's Red Oak Domestic is one of the closest I've found to an analogue (to my tastes) because it is not sweet; has a dirty, dark, smoky, rough flavor that is similar to tobacco (but still artificial); and produces killer amounts of vapor (due to the 100% VG).

On another note, I'd like to say something about the organic extracted tobaccos. I agree, they do REALLY taste like tobacco, but for me, NOT like a tobacco cigarette. To me, they taste like tobacco juice, like if you dip, or chew on a cigar, and for me that is a nauseating taste. Again, its my taste, but it is nothing like a cigarette. It's like sucking on a leaf. And it makes sense if you think about the extraction process. Now, they are great for some and exactly what they want. And I will say they are the most authentic flavors I've ever tired, but... it's not the flavor I'm after. Just a word of warning, because I really got my hopes up that they would do the trick for me.

so far i've tried some tobacco flavors from ecblends and madvapes and out of 8 or so, i've really loved just one, ecblends desert gold. I plan to keep experimenting, and try some of the flavors suggested here as well, and also hear ecblends is working on some extracts, which i would like to try a few samples of as well.

Also experimenting with cartos, boges, kangers, and short wick ce4 style 808 threaded clearomizers that i really enjoy for how easy they are to use, and fill (even if they look a little janky on the Volt 78mm battery i use currently.)

oh- and black and mild also seems pretty good so far. I have been testing via dripping on 2 atomizers i try a flavor on then clean, and using 50/50 mixes, as 100 pg seems to get me chest tightness which is dislike immensely. (may even go to 30pg/70vg.)
