Hey all, just got a new Vamo V5 from a reddit reseller, and it's being wonky. Seems to turn on fine, but gives super inconsistent ohm readings on plain clearomizers, and will turn off every time i try to fire it? HELP! This is very disappointing with a new mod, my first at that!

Thought I should add I have these grey 18350's that came with the package, they say "Rechargeable ICR18350 Special Lithium Battery 3.7v 900mAh"

I charged both of them fully before using.

I think you just named your problem"I have these grey 18350's that came with the package" chuck them batteries and get some good ones and your vamo should be fine.

Turn on the vamo with no clearomizer on top.

Check whether it cuts off when you press the fire button.

Hold down the right side button; it should show 9.9 ohms when there is no clearo on top

Sounds to me that you're using a protected battery... you need to go and buy an UNPROTECTED battery :D RTDVapor is the best site for batteries.

Or.. it could be the infamous center pin problem... check and see if the center pin has pushed down between the little o-ring that should be under it... if so just pop it up with a little flat head screwdriver.

Vamo turns off when firing with no clear on top, will read 9.9 ohms with no clearo, but once a clearo is added, it reads 0.0 ohms and instead of firing reads "low load".

Replacing the batteries and the o-ring around the firing pin now keeps the device on, but still not functional.

Ok;

So first of all, you're saying it turns off sometimes when firing with no clearo.

So do you mean it turns off most of the time?

My vamo turns off sometimes ; due to the battery shifting inside the tube; not specifically due to firing, just that if I pick it up to use it, I might find that it turned off. Might happen like 1 time out of a hundred.

So; what you need to ascertain is whether when your vamo turns off, is it specifically shutting off when you fire the button, or is it just that it happens to turn off due to movement / shifting of the battery in the tube when you move the device.

If it is due to firing then you can look at the screen and observe what if anything is happening there;
once the vamo is on, can it read a resistance by holding down the right button?

9.9 with no topper is normal.

0.0 with topper, the Vamo is telling you it's seeing a short, or at least a topper with less than about 1 Ω resistance, and is turning off to protect itself. (And you.)

What are you putting on top? And are you screwing it down too hard? That will compress the insulating gasket around the positive pin and can lead to a short situation. (And damage the gasket, which you say you've already replaced.) Over-tightening toppers is a common cause of malfunctions. Just snug is all that's needed.
