Hello ECF community. I am 2nd day caper from Texas. I am in my 20s and was "blessed" as a child to have a parent that didn't mind smoking. Therefore I was a pack a day smoker by time I was legally able to buy them. About 6 months ago I decided it was time to quit due to kids and a killer job. I purchased one of those farm truck exhaust pipe "cig a likes" from the mall and immediately started chewing tobacco. Well needless to say I quickly got up to a 2 can a day habit and decided it was enough. Yesterday I bought an H20 Ego wick less e cig with a 900mah battery from the gas station. So far I love it and haven't picked up a dip yet. It looks and acts similar to some of the high end brands I see on here. I am gunna stick around and gain all of the knowledge I can. I'm taking this not as a quitting approach but as a new hobby approach. I believe this is a standard 510 clearomizer type. It has a 1.6 ml clear tank. Will all the brands of clearomizers and batts fit it?

Congrats and welcome to ECF. Who knows, your new hobby may just help you to quit. Think of it as a bonus.

Ok well I'm in a dilemma I am leaving Monday to go out of town for work. My evods won't be here till a later time. The local smoke shop has kanger tech protank2s and evod clearomizers but they are 15 a piece. Will one evod last me a month and a half? I bought a cheapie no name one and couldn't use it as the draw was incredibly tight.

Your one Evod topper will do fine. The clearomizers like the Evod don't actually wear out, unless you mistreat them, strip the threads or break them somehow. But you should try to pick up some replacement heads for it. You can tell if you need to change the head if you start getting a burnt taste, or sometimes the vapor production drops down. You will be limited by only having one Evod, to using one juice at a time. But it's easy to rinse out and refill with a different juice.

I personally would try to get by with just the one until your new Evods come. I would flinch at having to pay $15 for one Evod, when I had some cheaper coming in the mail. Is there any chance there will be a place where you are going to purchase something? Good luck on your trip and work.:)

Well I went back to said shop after reading about evods and clones. I told him that the one on the shelf was a fake and that I could get the real deal for 6 bucks. He said we have the real deal it's 29.99. Just for a clearomizer! He let me have the fake and 3 replacement coils for 10 bucks so I'm happy I guess. Honestly the difference is hard to tell. 2 wicks 2 windows smooth collar. Haven't tried it yet tho

Glad he let you have something to take with you at a reasonable price, at least. I hear stories like that all the time about some of the B & M stores. I know they need to make a profit to keep up with their overhead, but it's a shame when they insult the intelligence of their customers with outright price gouging like that. Have a safe trip, and vape well.:)

Have you read the tips I linked above?

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...5.html?highlight=troubleshooting#post12394975

Coils don't need to be dry burned before first use--as a matter of fact they should not be dry burned. If you don't rinse them after dry burning they will taste horrible. I don't dry burn at all. I just soak them in Alcohol (PGA or vodka) when they are dirty.

The only thing I recommend is washing the tank prior to first use.

I'm a pretty stingy sort, and kept using the same coils for quite a while before replacing them with new ones. I do put the used coil to soak in water overnight, let it dry thoroughly and use again for a while. I tried the dry burn method a couple of times, but decided I wasn't good at it. I think I actually made the coil worse because I "burned" it too much. So now, I just stick to the soak and dry method, and it works better for me.

Also, I think just gaining experience with all this helps. When I first started, I didn't even know what to look for, to tell if I needed a new coil or not. I've relaxed a little since then, and I've been getting more use from my coils before replacing them.

I found a place that sells the heads/coils for about $6 for a five pack. So at about $1.25 each, I figure I can afford to replace them when needed. When I remember what I paid for only one pack of cigs, that is bargain, even if I changed them every day, which I don't.:)

I just put in my order for a couple of kanger evods. I will probably order 1 or 2 of multiple brands just to have a variety. I will probably just go with e-go styled everything as 510 seems to be more for the big mod style vapes. Once again thank you everyone for the welcomes. I look forward to getting to know all of you (as best I can on a forum atleast). One question is, are all of you veteran vapers going to eventually quit or is this something yal plan on doing for awhile? I seeing myself picking this up as a habit/hobby for quite some time. I mean I know it's tons healthier than it's counterparts but is everyone on ECF working towards a no vaping goal?

i'll never quit vaping...i figured the cigs would put me down before i put them down too, so who knows....40 yrs smoking. maybe after 40 years i might stop vaping as well. ask me then.

give me a T for Texas. give me a T for Tennessee.

Ok well that explains the problem I guess. I guess I will tear it down and clean the coil. It honestly tastes horrible. Edit: I tore it down rinsed the tank and coil gave it a vodka bath. It still tastes absolutely terrible. I'm using atmos watermelon liquid which tastes awesome btw. While I was in the process of buying it the guy showed me that it worked by holding the button till the coil was glowing hot. He held it for quite awhile so I'm thinking he burnt the wick maybe. I'm going to replace the coil/head and see if it makes a difference.
