I hope to quit using my new Volt e cig. It will be much easier when my mom quits too. With no smokes in the house, there will be much less temptation.

welcome offlimits!

I understand how you feel, my mom smokes with me at home all the time when my dad (smoker hater) is not at home.
I plan to supply my mom with e-cig as vaping is better since we cannot quit smoking? xD

Hope you can quit permenantly soon enough!

Welcome to ECF. Good for you on your decision to quit smoking. Vaping does work. I smoked 2 packs a day for 46 years and was able to quit by vaping. Nothing else worked for me. It does take a little determination on your part too, but I was amazed at how easy it was for me to make the switch.

If you and your mom find you are still having cravings, try bumping up to the next higher level of nicotine and see if that does the trick. I started at 18mg and still had cravings, like the cigarettes were still chasing me. I bumped up to 24mg and those cravings went away.

Hang out here, read the posts and post here. Ask questions and stay engaged and it will work for you. The people here are very good at answering questions. And there is no dumb question, so do not be shy. Check out the different Forums and here is a thread to start learning a bit.

Hi, Offlimits, and welcome to ECF.

My daughter and I both quit smoking cold turkey around 8 (almost 9) years ago. We still wanted to smoke but could not afford the price of cigarettes. Almost 3 years ago, the cravings were getting really intense, and starting to smoke again was really tempting. My daughter had heard about ecigarettes. We looked into things, hemmed and hawed for a couple of months, and finally my daughter picked up a couple of disposables to see if they would really help. We could not believe it. The cravings were very well satisfied, and we lost the desire to smoke. We went from cigalikes to Evods, and are extremely happy to continue to be ex-smokers.

How old is your mom? Is she interested in trying to vape? You are quite right - it will be easier for both of you to quit and stay quit if you do it together and support each other. However, if she is not interested at this point, do not get discouraged. Keep on vaping, and let her know how much you are enjoying it.

By the way, I am 65 and the "go to" person for my daughter and her boyfriend as far as vape supplies and information go. I am retired and have the time to do the research, and I am having a great deal of fun with it. Don't buy that garbage about "too old to change". I was unsure about vaping when my daughter first brought it up, but now I would recommend it to anyone who wants to quit or stay quit. I do wish ecigarettes had been around when my daughter was starting to smoke. Darned straight I would have gone out and gotten kits for both of us.
