I'm not a veteran, only been "vaping" a few months now, but let me just pass on a few things I learned.
There is alot of information on this site, it can get overwhelming but it's still all good info. Take your time, ask the right questions ( looks like you did in the chat ) and give it a decent shot.
My first puff ( while still smoking ) was ok. I liked that it tasted good, but was tough getting the slower lighter drag part down. Don't give up, it took me a few weeks to feel like I was actually consistently enjoying it. Rather than wondering if I was doing it wrong.
When we started smoking, we didn't like it right away, didn't do it right etc. remember it's similar, but not the same. Give it time and you will get into it.
Remember after 35yrs of smoking your nose, and taste buds ( they are connected ) are fubard. Once you quit it will take a few days to weeks for them to clear up and start working well again. So things will taste different, and better as time progresses.
What kit did you get? I started on an ego-c and so did the girlfriend.
