Welcome to ECF, @Ubique :toast:

You've picked up vaping at a good time for living in Van. When I started, the only shop in the whole lower mainland was a speak easy-style closet in an industrial complex (blackened windows, buzz for entrance, no signage). It felt very illicit.

I'd like to tell you that the shinyitis abates... but it does not. I smoked without any care or attention for decades, but vaping is more like pipe smoking - thought goes into both product and appliance. Phrases like "my collection" creep into it.

What part of Van u at?

Hi @Ubique and welcome to ECF from another Canuck :)

I have to say @Hawise nailed it above. I ordered a couple of things online a couple of weeks ago that should have been here by now and I now doubt I'll see either package until late December if I'm lucky. IMO, if you want something within a month or two, buy it locally, wait things out, or pay the premium for shipping other than Canada Post.

It's a good thing everything I ordered is a want,,,not a need. For what I saved,,,I can wait the extra time. Kinda takes me back about 30 or more years with mail order stuff and watching for the postman,,,LOL. Mind you,,,in today's instant world the waiting doesn't get any easier!!

I'm in North Surrey. It seems the vape shops have leveled off and are more quality than quantity. There's less now than a couple years but better stuff and more knowledgeable staff. Any suggestions on good shops?? I'm having good luck with a couple close by but always on the lookout for new places to shop.

There are some really good shops in the city (Mount Pleasant area plus the immortal East Van Vapes), but prolly not worth a special trip given the abundance of product these days. I live on Gabriola, but work in the city 3 days a week, so have my chances to stock up if needed.

If you ever want to get into DIY juice (which I recommend doing), DIY Flavours is located out your way. Excellent mail order with them as well. They have everything (glassware, measuring tools, flavour concentrates) except nic base, which you can get from Gentlemen's Reserve (located in Courtney on the island).

Welcome fellow Canuck, should we go for coffee and poutine? Enjoy the site, lots of knowledgeable people on here :)
Now that I finally understand vaping and am getting what I want out of it,,,,the knowledge is what I need. And I've been getting a lot in the last couple of months!!

Vernon eh?? Cool,,,my Uncle and cousin own a couple barber shops there. I think it's called Central Barbers.

Gimme a holler next time you're on the coast,,,coffee works for me!!

Welcome to ECF. :)

All the Canadian shops are sounding great but it is winter so....

Anna

Winter, true, and nothing in Canada is as warm as AZ, but Ubique and I live in the most temperate part of the country. Think "coastal north west", like Seattle, rather than "arctic circle", like Anchorage.

That said, I'm off to AZ myself for Christmas, so there's that.

Yep - works out to $0.005 per ml. Nic base is the most expensive part, but you will prolly find that you'll be backing off on nic as time goes on. I started at 18mg almost 6 years ago, down to 2mg now. A single litre of 100mg nic base (which is diluted to 2mg in the juice prep process) would last me over 20 years. Properly stored (brown glass bottles, freezer), that's entirely possible.

Also, let me know when you're ready for squonking. Weird term for a particular style of vaping which a fair few of us in here are devoted to. Maybe google the term to get an overview if you're curious. Alternatively, there is a subforum dedicated to one of the original squonk mods: Reos Mods

It's maybe not something you'd like, but if you want to get a broad understanding of vaping, it's definitely part of the culture. Folks in that subforum are some of the nicest, helpful, and most knowledgeable vapers to be found.

Dashvapes and The Broke Vaper both sell DIY starter kits. This will get you in the DIY door without a huge investment. Should it not be your thing, then not much will be lost. Their savings will not be as great in comparison to buying in large quantities but still a great saving in comparison to purchasing pre-made juice.

DIY is a lot of fun.

Portland eh? My sis lives there. It is many a time I have desired deeply to go learn at the foot of my therapy god, Marsha Linehan, but heck they get like 3 days of sunshine there a year.

I almost took a JOB in Alaska one time, and then I considered the photo period. Heck the SOCCER MOMS go manic there in summer, ,and enter deep deep depressions like when winter rolls around,. I would have lasted five minutes.

There are places on earth you shouldn't live. To be fair, I consider Tucson to be one of them, but for many other reasons than the sunshiny days. LOL.

DIY really is a ton of fun :)
