New Vaper requests information about new device

Greetings! I have been vaping for the last 2 months. The first month and a half I had a starter kit that I purchased from our town's Vapor Store. My daughter also started vaping and got the same kind of kit. I noticed right away that her device had a different out-put than my device.

My husband was surprised that I had actually quit smoking cigarettes (he didn't think I would ever be able to quit, me included). He encouraged me to consider getting a different device if I wasn't happy with the one I had. I ended up upgrading to a Tesla Variable Power Advanced Vaporizor. Can anyone tell me if I got a good device and direct me to where I can learn more about it. The directions that came with it were pretty minimal and I'm the type of person who wants to be well informed and prefers to know everything about what I have bought, to get to know the thing inside and out.

Thanks for your time, I look forward to learning more about my fellow vapor's, as well.

Welcome to ECF Shawnie :)

Congratulations on the 2 months !

If you use the search function in APV Discussion, there are quite a few threads that come up for the Tesla

You won't be able to post in there tho until you have 15 posts and the system refreshes.

Here is more info. The Tesla MOD runs a PWM chip set to run on RMS for accurate readings and calibration. It features fully variable voltage and wattage. Voltage can be adjusted from 3.0 to 6.0 volts in 0.1 Volt increments and watts adjust between 3.0 to 15.0 in 0.5 Watt increments. It runs a solid 3 Amp circuit and up to 15 watts of power. Enough to variation to match any e-liquid flavor for optimal vapor but also balanced on low settings and a small monster on high settings. It runs on a single 18650 battery and is compatible with just about any atomizer above 1.2ohms, we suggest 1.3 and up to be exact for certainty that it will work. Depeding on where you purchase your Tesla, the battery is usually not included. Any 18650 2000+mAh battery will be plenty to last you for the whole day. The venting slots are really good design as it ensures you battery will never overheat, reducing lifespan or even causing failiure.

I actually have the Tesla that I posted the pic of, so if you have any specific questions or concerns, just ask... I've had mine for a few years now and have never regretted the purchase! It is a solid unit.

Thank you Kaezziel, that's very reassuring. I bought the Tesla before I found this site. I wasn't aware just how many different options there were available out there.

To add to what Sis posted...
I would recommend keeping the resistance of the coils to between 2.0 and 2.5 ohms.... I just put a 1.5 ohm dual coil build in my Tobh and perched it on top of my Tesla... let's just say that I am unimpressed with the performance at the moment...

Okay Kaezziel, now is where I start to feel left at a disadvantage. "Keeping the resistance of the coils...." Is this a setting I can adjust? I'm currently using a Smok GBC (I think it's called a cartomizer) and when I press the + button for a few seconds on my Tesla, it says it's at 1.8 ohms. It's got the wic on the bottom, I've told it's called a bottom loader. I notice the cartomizer? that came with the Tesla puts out a different quality than the one I am currently using.

I know that with the cartomizer that has the wick, I can tell the wick needs to be replaced when it starts tasking off or when the cartomizer starts leaking. How can I tell when the silver thing needs to be replaced withe the clear tank that came with the Tesla. I wish I was more clear on what everything is called so my questions aren't so confusing.

Hey Shawnie,
Hopefully this link can help clear up your confusion on the toppers. (The parts that screw onto the top of the battery mod)
Proper terminology - Is it a carto, a tank, or what? A Guide to Juice Attachments.
I would also recommend reading through the rest of Baditude's blog posts: Bad's Blog

The 1.8 ohms that you are measuring on your coil (The part in the atomizer/cartomizer/clearomizer that actually gets hot and causes the juice to vaporize.) is well within the limits of the Tesla and will give you a good vape. What I was talking about was, when you buy replacements look for the higher resistance parts... 2.2 ohms vs. 1.8 ohms. This will give you longer battery life and will also let the Tesla run more efficiently.

For your last question, I'm not sure which part you are talking about... you should have enough posts now that you can post pictures. Maybe you could show me?

Don't worry too much about the lingo. The links I gave you will help, and in time you'll be dropping acronyms and words that you've never even heard of like a pro! We'll get ya up to speed and you'll have friends and family looking at you funny in no time! :D

Hi,
I think you mean the tank. It shouldn't need replacing unless you break it.
you need to be careful with the o-rings at each end of the tank when you change the carto (the inner silver part that has the coil and wick in it) Just make sure you don't tear them or it will leak. You can buy replacements though.

Tanks are fine but not very forgiving as they can leak easily if you're out and about you may pick it up and the tank can sometimes slide up the carto, juice everywhere.

You could try a BCC instead, say a kanger or davide. They'll fit onto your tesla and are less likely to leak, cheap too.

THANK YOU so much for the links. I will definitely be checking those links out! Hopefully the attachment has made it. I'm trying to figure out what the signs are that the chrome tube (wick-type thing) needs to be replaced. They are twice as much as wick's are to replace, and the reason I got the tesla was because of the cartomizer and the fact that it's supposed to last twice as long as the tanks that use the traditional wicks.
