While I wait to be activated, I'll post here. I am searching for my first electronic cigarette. I am desperately trying to be informed before making any purchases. I want an e-cigarette that I can buy cartridges either full or empty and that I can buy them easy from almost anywhere. Because it seems to have these features I am looking for in an e-cig, I was all set on the DSE901 until I started reading on forums that the battery life was short.. On every forum I have read, including this one, there seems to be more information on what NOT to buy, rather than what TO buy. Can someone just tell me a good, cig that has a battery life of longer than 18 days? LOL And, then, advise as to what company/companies ARE reputable. And, are ALL e-cigarettes expected to have bad batteries? Thanks for any replies.

The DSE901 has a pretty good track record and is very easy to get parts for since it is the staple device for most users.

I have had a love/hate relationship with the batteries because there are good ones and bad ones. The good ones are the real 901 batts, the bad ones (potentially) are the ones for the 4075. Both of them are interchangeable with each other but I seem to have pretty bad luck with the 4075 batteries. So far the last set of batts that I got have lasted for about a month with little issue.

One of the biggest things you have to look out for is leakage into the battery from the atty. If this happens, you will get residue on the switch inside the batt causing it to stick. If you're careful, this shouldn't be an issue.

My new personal absolute favorite is the m510 from Janty. It is labeled as the Janty Dura-C. The vapor production is top notch, the throat hit is great and the flavor isn't compromised at all during the atomization. Only downside is that Janty doesn't sell the batteries separate and if you are a heavy vaper, they can drain pretty quickly.

Hey Jane :)

Glad to have you on the forum

To be perfectly honest, these are electronic devices and there are duds.

Having said that, there are several suppliers who stand by their items and will return defective items immediately. :D

As far as the model, I highly recommend the Titan (from totallywicked-eliquid.com, aka Dura-c, yeti, 510) in the manual battery style. Its awesome!

Also, the Pilot from puresmoker is pretty dang sweet itself.

Most batteries are going to last you from 1-4 hours per charge, depending on how much you vape. You're going to want to have extra batteries to carry with you. I've also got chargers for my car, my office, my bedroom and my kitchen. Grab a USB charger and then you can get the adapters for your wall outlets, your car and then be able to charge on your computer at home and at work.

At first, that's how I did it with my 901. Would have one battery on charge on the wall charger and carry the usb charger in my purse and had an adapter for my car and could plug it into the PC at work so I always had my spare battery on charge.

Hope that helps!

Rita

ruyandirect.com is a great place from china

You will probably experience fast shipping 5-7 days is the norm
same as a US supplier

ruyan direct also sells true 901's (slb on the batt and atom)
These seem to last longer

The 901 is the king and you should get one at least to start with then compare with others if you need too.
All around there should be no complaints

Ok, I order from eliquid planet, those guys are great, I also have ordered from dietsmokes, puresmoker, janty, litecigusa, and ruyandirect, oh and vapornine as well. all of them are good guys and have never had a problem. I just live real close to eliquidplanet so I have gotten to know josh and rich personally so I use them pretty much for everything now, they let me stop by and pick up so it is convenient. I love my 901 but the 103 and 401 are good choices as well

Thanks Rita, I totally forgot about the Titan being compatible with the Dura-C. My suggestion is if you want the 510, order the kit from Janty and the parts from TW. TW sells the kit for $30 more than Janty does and you get one manual and one automatic battery with the TW kit. I believe Janty sells theirs with both manual batts.

Hello Jane Doe:

Welcome to the forum. You have'nt told us if you are a heavy or light smoker? I think you could get by if you are on the light side with the 901. but to be honest (my opinion the batteries are not worth the time, lately). Yeah, I know the 901 has been reccomended in the past as the old staple, I just feel that the reliability lately has been comprimised, remember everything is made in China. Something is worng lately (for what ever reason) maybe workmanship? It (the 901) has been reccomended in the past and now for a start up vaporizer here often, (bad start for me).

If you are a serious smoker, looking for an alternative with less hassle I personally reccomend the Screwdriver , . It is not first reccomended here,.. ecigscrewdriver.com here to everyone. Please read up and make your informed choice. I feel, It should be offered to serious smokers here. By serious I mean (close ) to two packs a day, or a person who smokes a very strong cigarette for sure. The battery life is much stronger with the Screwdriver, sometimes lasting a day and a half. Compare that to the 901 (if they work) 2,3,4, hours this varies in batterie life.

You cant just buy a reliable, (somewhat reliable), personal vaporizer just anywhere. You have to order it and wait. You are lucky if you find one close to you. But regardless, it takes some time, and cost, to acquire all the necessities to be able to not look back to analoge smoking. if that is indeed your goal.

P.S. if you can give us some more iformation as to what kind of smoker you are, ie: heavy, light? we can possibly offer more advise.

welcome again, and feel free to ask any questions you may have so we can try to helpl

Just a bit of info. I truely wish others would offer for your personal reseach. Good Luck to you. If you have more questions, please post them.

Well, I decided on the 401 to start with, and will get the 901 later. I am going to use empty carts to fill, and am also going to drip. I bought different att's to experiment with and each will have its own purpose. To clean the atts, it is my understanding that I should let them 'drain' smoke-side up.....am I right on this? Then carefully use 1-2 drops of e-liquid to soak the wick?

I bought the Johnson Creek kit so that I can try all the flavors. If I decide to strengthen the flavors, can I?..........use water soluble flavors or oil flavors??

Sorry for all the questions, but really need the guidance. Thank you all so much.

Hi Jane and welcome...

My first (and so far only) e-cig is the 401 and it's a good one to start with imo. I'm also thinking about getting a 901 and USB passthru because the whole battery thing kinda makes me crazy :p

I got the JC kit and really like it...not all the flavors (just my preference) but you get a lot of good stuff in it and a plastic box to keep it all in. I think you'll like it.

I drain my atts every night, but not really sure this is necessary. You can find a lot of information on cleaning them in the forum and everyone seems to have tried a 1001 different things, most with not a whole lot of success. I think the atts are basically "disposable"...

I think there is a learning curve...anytime you have a question just ask...lots of good people on the forum willing to help.

Good luck ;)

901 is the best starter device in my opinion. I take mine everywhere because it's also easy to conceal and also easy to manage the carts when I need a quick refill. You can buy the parts all over the place too if they break down. If you want to order it directly from China go to eastmall.net. if you want to order it quickly within the US go to myvaporstore.com. If you live somewhere else like the UK ask some UK person or browse the spondoring suppliers.

got my M401 from absolutelyecigs and I love it! The Johnson Creek juice was delivered the same day, and I tried a couple of flavors so far-- cherry and vanilla, both really good. I smoked one Marlboro the whole day, and I feel fine! After I ordered this one, I then realized I should have ordered more atty's, so I ordered some from ruyandirect, along with a couple of batts. So, this all should last me a while. Next time, I'll try the 901.
