I picked up a used VV Bogger Box and am pretty excited about it; won't have it for a few days though :pop: I was visiting a friend a few months back who had a standard Bogger Box feeder mod, and I really liked it. I've been looking at feeders off and on since then and was thinking about getting a VMOD XL, but then an opportunity came up to grab this used VV Bogger Box.

So, I'm hoping fellow Bogger Box users could offer up some tips or suggestions for me. What are the preferred batteries for the VV, for example? Any maintenance concerns or quirks I should be aware of?

Gratz on the Bogger! Marcus builds them as small as possible so they are a little tight on the inside. For this reason, I find that I like to use a pair of 16340 batteries more than the 18350's as they fit a little better. Performance is the same for me. I have a set of AW 16340's and a set of Trustfire flame 16340's and AW 18350's and all work very well. You can run flat top or nipple top, it can handle either one without issue. The spring is very big and stiff in the bogger vv and piece of electrical tape wrapped around the battery with a tab hanging off makes it easier to remove the batteries when it's time to recharge.

The only other thing I would mention to watch for is current drain. The circuitry he uses will slowly drain the batteries over time even when not used. Like 0.1 to .02 volts per day when just sitting. This is no problem if you are using it it a lot but can be a surprise if it's a shelf queen and you has been several days and you come back to dead batteries. Keep an eye on your battery charge as it can and will pull them down very low if you let it.

Beautiful box and a great vape but has a couple little quirks. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine!

Thanks, Ratman. I watched your video review of it the other day after I made the deal to get mine. It was very well done and informative! :toast:

I believe the batteries the seller included are protected AW ICR 123s, and I then also ordered a couple Efest IMR 18350 flat tops. Based on your review I thought the flat tops might work a little better? (They can also be used for the Segelei Zmax I'm getting in a co-op; I think I saw you over there as well?) Also, the idea of using tape to make battery pull tabs is a great idea.

I'll keep on eye on current drain when/if the Bogger is idle for a while. So the electronics in there don't have any kind of protection that shuts off the device when the charge gets down to, say, 3.2 volts?

The AW ICR 123's should be fine as well as the flat tops. Batteries are so different on length so not sure how much difference it will make but can't hurt!

Yes I am in that co-op as well. I have a friend who is ready to move up to a vv tube mod and I think it would be a great way to start. Would like to get one for myself although I sooooo do not need another PV lol

Sadly, no. There is not a cut off until they get too low to fire wich can be down around 2.0 volts. I was not aware of this when I shot my video review and wish I had been able to include it to be more thorough. It's a solid device but does have pros and cons like any other.

Thanks, Ratman; you've been very helpful. That's a bummer about no undervolt protection. I guess I'll just have to have a few sets of batteries around and get used to swapping them out every X hours no matter what just to be safe.

As this is my first bottom feeder, do you have any recommendations for threads or anything to help me get up to speed? I do watch reviewers like MainelyVapor and GeekGirlVaper, and they both like bottom feeders so I've picked up on a few things, but it's always different when you actually get it in your hand and start using it.
