I went online tonight to place an order (gotta stock up on cartos!) and saw the new website for the first time. I love the new look. It is easier to find what I'm looking for, not to mention it is easier on the eyes.

I apologize if these questions have been asked and answered. I went back 10 pages to some time in Oct and didn't see them...

I see you can log in and give a product a star rating, but is that it? Is there any way for people to leave a written description? I liked being able to see what previous users thought about a product in detail. Juices, for example, maybe the user thought the flavor was great, but the TH was insufficient. Well if I wasn't big on throat hit, I felt I would have a better time taking a chance on it because their 3 stars were explained and the reason the person dinged the juice wasn't an important issue for me (not necessarily true, just the only example my brain is coming up with @ 2 in the morning (so I apologize if it is a lousy one). Leave it to say I find them helpful and are sometimes the tipping point as to whether I will go ahead and purchase the juice. Are the stars the only reviews people can leave, or am I missing a link I can click on to read written reviews, or is it just that no one has left one for that product yet?

It seems that not all the pictures can be clicked on to enlarge. I want a stealth battery, but need to see the different colors again. The thumbnail is so tiny and won't enlarge when I click on it. Was this pic just overlooked in that regard? I notice some of the others do enlarge.

Thanks!

Hello CitP,

As for the pic of the stealth battery, unfortunately I really can't say whether this was overlooked or not. The new site does not carry the flavor reviews like the old site did for legal reasons. Due to recent FDA rulings, vaping cannot be depicted in any way, shape or form as a smoking cessation alternative. Previously many folks would write things like, "This is the flavor that allowed to quit cigarettes" etc etc that the input review option had to be taken down.

I will say this, there are plenty of reviews available on Youtube and the ECF by doing a search. If you have a question about a specific flavor simple ask about on the board. Everyone here will be more than happy to give you a description.

I hope that helped answer your questions...

and since we are talking about the site....
I too would like to see more visible pictures. Stealth "Camo Green" arrived very different from what I imagined (and could not discern on the tiny picture). Also, having a picture of all the colors on the carto-blanks would be nice.

As for star ratings, I'd like to see it be sortable.... like click a whole category of flavors, then display them by descending order to see what gets the highest ratings first.

Just some ideas.

As far as reviews, couldn't you just display a disclaimer stating that customer opinions are not endorsed and do not reflect those of V4L? I mean technically, couldn't someone make the case that having a ratings system serves a similar purpose and that a customer-rated 5-star product could be seen as an endorsement for smoking cessation? Another alternative would be to allow reviews but when someone tries to view them, they have to read a small disclaimer in order to continue. Much like the site asks the users age upon first visit.

Since we're on the subject, there are a few things about the site I wanted to mention as well.

The first is that the shopping cart isn't saved from session to session. If I had to guess I'd say this is because its stored in a cookie and that cookie is set to expire at the end of the session. Any way you could bump the expiration up to like 30 days or something? I like to place things in my cart throughout the week and then review/order later.

Next is sorting products in the store listing. Current options are Product, Price, Default, and Default. I've played with it some but can't figure out what the 2 "Default" options actually use as sort criteria. Actually the second seems to sort alphabetically (same as Name) but only in one direction. I'd like to see options for Newest, Avg Rating, Rating Count, and maybe even Popularity. This is really useful when browsing for new juices as we can see what other people are buying.

On the old site there were 2 haters that simply went and bashed every flavor, it was obvious that they had some gripe or perhaps had an agenda from a competitor. Since the flavor reviews didn't get moderated on a regular basis their entries sat on the site for months.

I think there are ways to get the information people want, without allowing them access to write a response. I never trusted any of the responses that were on the old site and found the reviews weak at best. When you read a review that goes something like, "I love this flavor, it's totally awesome!" or "This flavor sucks, I expected better" it leaves the reader with nothing.

Why did it suck, why was it awesome? As well, who are you? How long have you been vaping? What were you hoping for and what did you feel you received?

I think some type of rating system could be done featuring Flavor, Throat Hit, Vapor Production, and number votes. Then place 2 default questions with 3 default answers, Yes, Maybe, No, again with the number of respondents would do the trick.

Something to the effect of:

Would you recommend this flavor to a friend?

Would you purchase this flavor again?

Tennovan, put your "shopping list" items on your "Wish List": then, when you are ready to buy, just go to your Wish List and click the "Add to cart" button beneath each item that you actually want to buy that day. :)

Yeah but Wish Lists are tied to accounts which means I have to be logged in order to add to it (logins aren't remembered either). None of this is a huge deal I guess, it would just be convenient for lazy people like me who add to their carts all week and then place big orders on payday haha.

Losing my cart after each visit has definitely saved me money though. I can't tell you how many times I absolutely needed a specific flavor on Thursday but completely forgot to re-add it when it came time to order on Friday :p

I am not understanding why logging in to use wish list is a big deal .As to the actual "cart " how would it "save" if youre not logged in anyway ? None of the mail order or dept stores save your cart either .I think were on different wavelengths

If you are logged in, your cart is saved. At least for 24 hrs, if you login again within 24 hrs. That's what I've observed. I have added lots to wish-list, not planning to by all of it at one time. And over time add items to the cart, and after a few days actually pull the trigger on the cart. The wish list is a great way to find flavors I might be interested in, but don't have the strength I want in stock ... keep checking it with Edit Options, and once the desired strength appears, add it to cart. This is why I wish V4L.com would still list items that were completely out of stock.

Thanks for the tip plarkinjr, I'll have to try that out.

Well in my defense I did say it wasn't a big deal haha. To answer your question though, my concern isn't really "saving" the cart... but rather maintaining the contents of the cart between browsing sessions (from the same computer). I may have been a little vague in my earlier posts. As an example, if you add a product to your cart on Amazon/Newegg/Walmart/etc and close/reopen the browser -- the item added earlier is still there. If the content of the cart is stored in a cookie (which is likely), then its just a matter of changing the expiration on that cookie so that it doesn't disappear when you close the browser.

As mentioned earlier its not a big deal, I'm just used to throwing products in my cart and then forgetting about them until I'm ready to buy. The downside is that I end up buying lots of stuff I wanted last week but don't need now

Tennovan, fwiw, I rarely close my browser (and have some times gone as many as 8 days >gasp< without rebooting windows)... so that may have a bearing on my observations of the cart retention.

Another great feature that might be needed Mark sir, how about a page didicated to all the half dog, half rabbit, half hippo, 3 toed sloths out in the world looking for a lovely home? It's vaping related.... :)

You, Mo' sir, are a smart-...! (You don't mind if I call you that ..................... ["Mo'" that is] do you?) :p
