what is supposed to be the advantage of the hollow core...What is up with the braided kanthal or was it wide kanthal..has that proven to be advantageous

I am not sure the hollow core has any advantage, but the braided part is what I like. The 1.5mm size has some strands of silica running through the core.

The Ribbon Kanthal is fantastic, easier to work out hot spots and increased surface heating area lead to better performance IMO. It's easier to wrap then round kanthal at least on mesh. I havent tried it with silica yet...

i've still yet to try the ribbon kanthal. was going to order some from cov but they are oos. anywhere else to get it?

I have a bunch of .5 and .6. I will send you some to try, PM incoming.

Afternoon Bullies!:) Mmmmm coffee.
I have seen people using braided stainless steel cable as wick lately as well. I want to try some of these newer wick and wires but I have soo much 500 mesh and kanthal wire, it might be a while;)

I too have a ton of #500 mesh, and I don't see any reason to change. It works well for me.

afternoon swarley. yeah i've heard of some nextel something wick? i have read mixed reviews. swarley your avatar is hilarious by the way.

The Nextel Ceramic wick has gotten mixed reviews. The off putting feature for me is that you have to torch the living daylights out of it to remove the harmful chemicals. No thanks...

You have no idea how badly I want a JM22 and JM16. I know where it's all going down now, so I am just patiently waiting for the lists to open up... :D

yea im on the fence with the jm though. the center pin could be better. its basically a machine screw with the head chopped off. in order for my aga to sit flush i had to sand down the jm pin. the button sticks when in certain positions and my aw imr batteries wobble side to side. i actually traded my juggy for the jm set + cash. i'm on the 4th list so i have another coming.

I am really sorry to hear that bud. It's a shame, as that is the sharpest looking 22mm tube mod out there imo. You know who to "call" if you want to let it go :D
