I have to agree with slaughty, I bought the house next to mine after my neighbor passed away so no one else would buy it. The house is in such rough shape, I've got a guy tearing it down just for the materials. I had no intentions of doing anything with the house, just wanted the extra 2.5 acres.

CB, my family has had a tendency to do the same over the years whenever possible. If the house is in good shape then family that is liked can move in. Otherwise demo for scrap and expand the existing property.
Slaught, it has been nothing but a headache. The land was overgrown with hedge, underbrush, and damn sweet gum trees everywhere. We've been trying to clear the land without coming out of pocket, so using my dads old 8n lol. We have barely put a dent in it, and its been close to a year lol.
