I really thought someone with a Vmod would come along eventually... Letting a post sit for 5 days with no responses is unusual for the Vmod crowd. They're generally pretty positive and excited.

So, what did you wrap it with (cool color by the way)? Is this purely for aesthetics or does it add some functionality (is it grippy material? - or does it reduce the possibility of dings?)?

When I had a Vmod, I thought about making a mold of the shell and replacing it with kydex. That would have given it a really nice super-durable ding-proof shell that would also provide some good all-weather grip. I also sort of thought about a V-pattern overlay of alternating plumbers tape and skateboard tape right on the shell.

If I ever end up with another VMod, I will probably employ more than one of those techniques. I'll probably make a kydex shell and use trac-tec (same stuff in some kershaw knife handles - like the kershaw blur, for instance) overlayed with plumber wrap. So in the end, it should have some areas that are nice soft plumber tape, some areas that are kydex hardshell, and some areas that are rubberized trac-tec. After that's done, I'll rivet a kydex belt clip on it so I can hang it on my belt when not in use.

Thanks six :) yes it makes for a much warmer grip in this cold cold weather New York is having right now lol. Also a lot more comfortable to grip and it does reduce the slippery ness in- hand. The next one will be sewn instead of glued together and will be tailored a little better. Right now dings to the top part of the shell are quite possible ( the edges). The rest of the mod is completely encased.

As for material, it's wine colored faux leather material, which can be bought for about six dollars a bolt ( was not aware how much a bolt of cloth was before this! Ha)
