Hey everyone. Just found this forum while I was researching Diabeties and vaping. I was just diagnosed with Type 1.5 on Jan 9th. I have been vaping for 3.5 years prior to that. My Dr. has told me that he has no issues with me vaping, I'm at a nicotine level of 3, as long as it's not real cigarettes. What got me looking into this was an ad in Popular Mechanics that stated that vaping should not be done if you are diabetic. Anyone have any information, or that is diabetic and vapes? Does it affect your sugar level?
Thanks,
Tony

One thing that I would do ... a test. Test your blood before and after .. you vape. like in the morning .. test .. and then vape get your nicotine fix. And then test your blood a few min later. Do you see it jump and then eat .. and do your test like normal. Right then and there you should know your answer .. my oldest has type 1 does not smoke or vape .. but I see how his test jump it a short time. I think it is up to you to keep you safe. And you asking is wonderful. But Ask you Doctor... if it was me .. I would be going off my own blood tests.

Welcome to the forum @Tony Porpora and @Banger696. I'm not diabetic (just borderline at the moment) but if you put "vaping and diabetes" in the search box (top right of forum and uncheck "search this thread/search this forum only") you will find previous discussions on this topic - maybe this will help you :)

Don't know about sugar levels, but nicotine can take up to 30 minutes to reach the bloodstream while vaping..

Without wishing to make light of the question, sugars can be absorbed through the mouth but probably not lungs. Even if you poured nicotine free e-liquid into your stomach, how much sugar is in e-liquid?
Very little, as vape liquids tend to use artificial sweeteners.

Welcome and glad you joined. The following may help clarify.
Vaping and diabetes
Diabetes is one of the medical conditions that generates questions regarding its relationship to e-cigarette use. There simply is not enough data over a sufficiently-long time period to resolve such questions. There are various anecdotal reports, such as:
my blood screening results with diabetes and heavy vaping
There seems to be no negative effect; some report improvements after switching but it is too early to comment. Perhaps an improvement in overall health might be beneficial (some research indicates that a 1PAD smoker is 60% more likely to be diabetic).
