Hi folks, im Ruaridh from Dundee in Scotland.

Started smoking when I was 12 and am 22 now so have decided to nip this cigarette malarky in the .... before I damage myself further! Save some pennies aswell!

Received my riva 510 starter kit and got straight on the vape after the battery had a good charge. Have not touched an analogue for almost 24 hours now :)
Got some 18mg pg red energy and 18mg pg honey from LF.

Found myself feeling a wee bit sleepy after a good puff yesterday afternoon. Not sure if this is a transitional thing due to coming off the cigarettes?

Also, does anyone have any advice on getting a wee bit more flavor from my e-cig?

Cheers!

Welcome to ECF Ruaridh. A good choice on the Riva, a lot of people love them. I'm sure a lot of people will be here soon with questions and answers. I'll just say for now, glad to have you here. Oh, and after 5 posts in here, you can post in the other forums, there is one that might help here

Welcome to the forum and vaping. For more flavor I recommend the deluxe fluxomizer carto from Gotvapes. Easy to use and clean. Lasts a long time. I am going on 5 weeks with the same one. To get the best performance from these watch the youtube video on how to mod them. Tons of flavor and vapor.2.4 ohms works well with Riva/ego type devices.

Heyas Ruaridh,

Welcome to the ecf! And woot on the decision to give up smoking!

My personal favorite for an ego type batt is either dripping with a LR atty (just for trying out juices mostly) or, for my all day vapes, a 1.7Ω single coil carto by smok tech.

Happy hunting :D

p.s. How do you pronounce Ruaridh, if you don't mind my asking?

Another Scot! Vapers do exist here :D welcome to ECF my man. Good choice with the riva, great first PV.

Good idea but they're an american vendor. Shipping costs and waiting that long for stuff to get in sucks.

XL Clearomizer - 5 Pack - Detailed item view - FreedomVape (UK) <- Free, fast shipping and a decent juice selection for a lot cheaper than you'll find pretty much everywhere else in the UK.

I use the CE2 aka fluxomiser aka smokeymiser on a daily basis. Probably the greatest value for money heating unit out there, they can last for months. Great flavour and hit very well on 3.7v pvs like the riva.

How do you pronounce Ruaridh, if you don't mind my asking?
It's like roari/roary methinks. I'll look silly if I got it wrong as a Scot lol!

Tried a workmates carto on my riva batt and I did get alot more flavour and vape, but also got one hell of a throat kick! So to increase the flavour and vape from my standard e-cig without changing the throat kick, would i be looking at a LR carto and maybe reduce the nicotine level of my juice?
I think the sheer amount of different parts and combinations available is becoming clearer to me now. I guess its just a case of trial and error to fine tune my e-cig to my own tastes.

My name is pronounced roo-ree. Its the scots gaelic version of Rory. Gets annoying sometimes when people read it out from paper and they say roo-arr-ih-dih. haha ;)

Liberty-flights carry the 2.0ohm boge 510 cartomiser that's probably going to hit like a boss. Use september10 for 10% off orders with them: Electronic Cigarette - Cartomizers - Boge Cartomizers

Or I really do reccomend the CE2s from freedomvape as a "tank" type system. It holds 1.8ml at a time instead of about 0.5ml in the 510 cartomisers. Might be worth getting both to try them out, they're both similar but hit and work in a different way.

Thanks for clearing up the pronunciation :)

I hate seeming like an ignorant american, but at least now I'm not saying rue-ri-dah in my head whenever I read your name :p

You can try less nic to decrease the thoat kick. Also, you can go with a higher vg content to smooth out the vape. If you mix like flavored pg and vg, you'll still get a slight decrease in flavor due to the vg, but you'll get more vapor and a smoother hit.

As you said, there's tons of stuff to experiment with to find out whats right for you. I find that to be the greatest part of the fun of vaping, though :D

You have that 100% ;) Vaping is a lot of trial and error, and it's all a matter of one's personal tastes. What I love, you may hate, that goes for the PV, taste, TH, all of it. I'm still trying to find that flavor that is just right. I think I have the nic and TH for now, 14mg seems to do it for me, with just a tiny bit of TH, but I still haven't found an all day flavor, butter rum is close, and I just mixed a coconut rum today that's not bad, but I'm still experimenting heheh

Congratulations over there in Scotland :)

You will probably feel great the first couple days, then you'll start to feel the withdrawal from all the extra chemicals they add to normal ciggies. Day 3 I found was tough on my body, but I could easily resist a smoke. Get lots of rest if you can, remember to drink extra water as vaping can be dehydrating on your body.

Juice wise, shop around. I personally don't like LF juices myself but they are awesome for starter kits as most know around here. You will find different vendor's juices are just that different. Some more powerfully flavored then others. I'm sure someone has mentioned, but take a scroll on the main board of the forum. Towards the bottom there is a large list of vendors that ECF recommends because they are known to be good vendors in general to do with customer service. There is also the vendor location by the name and a quick link to their websites. Everyone's taste is different so it's hard to tell you one vendor or another.

Keep up the good work and you'll be feeling great in no time!

I can't speak for Leftfeild but I vape in bars and stores quite a bit. Big stores, few people say anything. Some people are interested and ask questions. The bar can be tricky. If it is your home bar I would ask out of respect. My home bar i caught the owner around and he didn't mind at all. Other bars I just start vaping and sometimes the bartender gives me the "Omg are you smoking!?" look. I quickly tell her, no no its electronic don't worry there is no smoke, laugh and they don't seem to mind.... so far. *crosses fingers* Its fun to get to "smoke" with your beer when everybody else has to go outside, at least in my state it's like that.

Cheers for the advice folks, ill order up a selection stuff and have a wee play about.
Im very pleased about the battery life on the riva, still vaping very nicely 24 hours later!

Leftfeild, have you had any experience in vaping in public? i.e buses, trains, pubs e.t.c..?

Thanks
I can't use my ego out in public if I don't do it stealthily. I've been stopped by the police just walking to work and they had me standing there for 20 minutes asking over and over if I'm doing or selling drugs. Pain in the...

I'm pretty good at stealth vaping though so I've vaped on busses trains and in pubs, also in Edinburgh airport and other places.

I use this Electronic cigarettes UK –buy Electric cigarette or E-Cigarettes online when I know I'll be out in public for a long time. I have a white battery and a red LED and one guy once even asked me for a light thinking it was real. Riva is great but it can give you some attention which can be really annoying. The smaller Kr808 from jac fits in my sleeve hidden in my hand so all you can see is the top of the cart if you look really close if I want to stealth.

Best advice is be discreet if you do it inside. The longer you hold your breath the less vapour there is. If you blow the vapour through a napkin or press your sleeve up to your mouth and blow through kinda hard there's no vapour at all. Easy to stealth that way.

If you're outside it doesn't really matter but you know what it's like, everyone who notices is going to ask you about it haha. You'll need to make a decision of whether you're ok with random attention for using it or if you'll stealth. Be ready with what to say to people if they ask though, police especially just because they might pull you up. Just say it's an electronic cigarette (I mean, tesco is selling the disposeable ones now, they should know they exist) and it's a more expensive one that doesn't look like a cigarette if you get any hassle, it's true and all they really want to know.

I do use my ego in public at work, and sometimes some weirdos come up and bug me about it. Usually no one says anything though and my boss is cool with it and is all for vaping.

Aye, I'm starting to cough up the gunk out my lungs. Dont feel as tired as when I first started yesterday but well see how the day pans out. Topping myself up with water throughout the day is helping with the dry throat and chapped lips :)

When you see all the tar coming up keeps you away wanting that ciggy, no? hehe. Glad you are starting to feel better!

My work are completely ok with it which is great. Im getting the train upto aberdeen at the weekend so ill ask what scotrail is saying to it. If its a no go, stealth smoke all the way ;)
