Newb Questions About "Steeping" and "Priming"

Hi - I've been reading about "steeping your juice" and I truly don't know what that means. How is it done, when should you do it, and for how long?

Also, I wrote to the guy who makes these (because I really want to order one):

and he said "cartos do need to be primed properly before vaping or it'll burn out leaving a bad taste." How does one "prime"?

Steeping is nothing more than letting it age or allowing the juice time to mix more thoroughly. Some speed up the steeping process by placing their bottled juice for a few minutes in hot water - a few minutes in hot water accomplishes as much as maybe letting it sit for a week or so... Not sure for that tank for priming...

You prime a carto by adding juice to it to wet the filler material, you can drip 10 - 15 drops in the top or use the condom method.

Put 10 ~ 15 drops in rubber end cap (condom) that comes on carto, slowly push battery end of carto into cap with juice in it. when you see it about to over flow from the air tube stop pushing, let it sit for awhile to absorb juice, continue until all juice is absorbed, blow through carto into paper towel to clear air tube then install in tank.

No matter how you prime a carto for tank use it is a lot more simple than it sounds after you do it a time or two.

There are plenty of youtube videos that can explain it better than I did.

Hi, correct me if I'm wrong isn't another way to prime it by taking hits on it without actually firing it? Sorry I'm a newb as well and last time I went to the smoke shop the guy there told me to prime it by doing this so I just wanted to make sure this was correct......

Think of steeping like a spaghetti sauce..the ingredients set together and sit for awhile and blend and makes the sauce taste better the next day or so....not all eliquids/juices need steeping and many are good right away from the mail or store....it varies based on the juice U may use...there is no hard fast rule/policy/way to when your juice is best...most all is trial and error...I use 555 right out of the bottle and like it, but others may prefer to steep it...

Looks like you've got the definitions already, but you also need to know the reason for priming. What you're trying to do is get juice into the center where the coil is. If you fire it when the coil is dry, you can burn the filling material. Once you've done that, the carto is no good anymore and you'll have to trash it.

That is another way to do it, but if the carto filler material doesn't get fully saturated by 'primer hits/puffs' it will burn almost instantly and have to be replaced to get rid of the burnt taste. Not worth the risk to me.

There are lots of different ways to fill cartos, like dripping, using a syringe, the condom method, the "Tayrn Spin," etc.. I experiment every time a read about something new, but this is the way I tend to fill them most often. IT'S NOT THE ONLY WAY (I'm screaming so I don't get flamed by folks who do it differently).

I'm glad you had a good experience with him. He doesn't have a good reputation, but hopefully it's a thing of the past; his tanks are pretty.

Google is your friend. Try company name + rip off. There are threads on ecf, but the forum search function doesn't work as well as Google. I don't want to perpetuate something if he has gotten his act together, but I wanted to give you heads up.

I have IBTanks, which come in colors but aren't handblown. You might want to check out Phiniac and High Desert Vapes.

This is good to know for a complete beginner like myself. I'm glad there's the five post rule as I am reading through the board lol. I've made a note about this but when I think about it more it just seems like common sense. However, being completely new I look over these things. Thanks for the information

I have no clue. I came across the guy several months ago while looking for drip tips. I read a number of negative things. Perhaps he's gotten it all straightened out. You might start a thread asking if anyone has dealt with him recently.
