Test your carto/atty on another box. If the led is shutting off it sounds like a short somewhere and since the atty/carto is the only difference I am guessing it's there. If you have a DMM you can check quickly with that.

Let us know what you find or if you have more detailed symptoms.

Do you have any circuitry other then a switch, led/resistor, atty connector. It would help if you posted a pick of the inside of your box and I diagram of how you have it wired. It's near impossible to trouble shoot without knowing the layout.
Is the LED "on" to indicate that the main power switch is on or is it supposed to come on when the vape button is pushed? If the first and it goes off when the button is hit it still sounds like a short. I would look at the connection at the connector and make sure that the body and center pole are not touching in any way or that you don't have these connections reversed. Did you remove the center pin for soldering? if not the insulator for the center pin may have melted.

what brand of battery are you using? i have a few unmarked ones that give out 3.6v but..... cant seem to fire an atty... i think im over taxing the battery try a different brand (like trustfire or AW) it may explain why your led is powered but you atty remains cold...

it worked for me... lol

edit... and oh yeah willy is right about how you are supposed to wire the led check that too

Remove the center pin and insulator, solder the wire to the center pin, and then place a small section of heatshrink on the center post and shrink it, being careful not to cover the top where it contacts the atty. If it is too loose fitting back in the hole, add a second piece over the first and shrink it too. Once it fits right and is working, you can reinforce from the underside with glue of your choice.
