Hey. I'm Elana, a 25 yr old college student, and I first heard of ecigs from my professor Wing Lee last semester. At the beginning of the semester we would hang out before class and share some analog conversation, but one day he wasn't smoking he was vaping! Imagine my surprise... I asked him about it and he was pleased to give me all the info he had...

The idea of switching to vaping has been swimming through the void of my subconsciousness since then and I recently decided to take the plunge into the world of vaping when I saw one of my pals (a smoker of quite a long time) vaping away like there was no tomorrow.

I decided that the Prosmoke PV would be a nice ecig to start out with, but I have a few questions that I need to post, albeit in other sections of this forum, but am unable to do so because spammers exist. I will post them here.

Upon delving through the amassed resources on this forum I have discovered that the Prosmoke is probably the same (or very similar to) an m401/402/403. I have not received it in the mail yet, but am I correct in assuming that the Prosmoke has an exposed atty and that I should be able to 'dip' (not drip) and never have to buy carts?

The picture Sprizzle linked to looks like it may be an exposed atty with one of those blank carts on it to protect the atty. But can't tell for sure from that picture.

And an exposed atty means the bridge is not surrounded by a metal tube. It's sticking right out in the open. (Think Blu)

And if it is an exposed atty, yes you can DIP.
I've heard of people using contact lense cases to put the liquid in, and just dip the atty right in it.

I wouldn't say "NEVER" have to use cartridges....They will come in handy when driving..
Dipping and Driving Don't mix...

Good luck.

Hi Elana. Welcome.
It was determined in another thread that the Prosmoke is one of the "M" series models. If it's about the length of a regular cigarette it's probably an M-403. It does have an exposed wick on the atomizer if you pull off the cartridge though they don't show that in the pics on their site. There's a model specific page for the M series here M-401/402 "Mini" & M403 Super Mini - E-Cigarette Forum
Welcome and good luck.

Welcome and good luck.

Thanks for your help! Once I get my Prosmoke in I will find the thread you speak of and post my findings - I ordered a m403 atty (not from the Prosmoke store, theirs have no model numbers) and i will see if it works with the Prosmoke.

I have found pictures of M403 atties that show the wick exposed and those that also look just like the picture of the atties on the Prosmoke page so... Unless there are both exposed and unexposed wick varieties (two different atomizer types) for this same model then I should be able to dip no prob.

'Best ecig for a 1st time vaper' was informative, but the Prosmoke is on the way and I don't think any added upkeep/maintenance is going to deter me from at least giving it a chance before buying one of the recommended model.

Can you dip, and not clog your atty?
If I could post a link to the thread I would, but I can't so I will tell you where to find the 'dipping' info.

I personally think dripping, or dipping is such a hassle. Try to drive a can and refill carts, drip, or dip, and after you crash you will see I am right.

Just for the convenience of it all, I. as well as many others use cartomizers, which have the cartridge, and atomizer all in one, and the better cartomizers will hold 35 or more drops of juice. imagine dipping 35 times for the same amount of vapor.

Everyone has there own opinion about what is best. Although I am pretty sure after dippin for a day or so you will be looking for a better way.

I don't drive so I think I'll be fine - I'll never know if I like it until I try. Seeing if it was possible with the PV that I purchased was the intent of my question initially and that question was answered. I'll let you all know how it went after I give it a go.:)

Greetings Elana and welcome aboard!

My first pv was an exposed wick model and I dipped using a contact case, and it worked fine if you're at your desk and the like. Not so great when you're on the move. Dripping while walking is very easy, especially w/ a drip tip. But that's just my own opinion.

Vaping is a personal journey, and like all of us here, you'll find the method that works best for YOU.

Glad you could join us!

I think you'll be fine too. You know what you want, and you've done your research. Happy vaping and welcome to ECF.

Hey Elana, if you want to try a cartomizer sometime you could get one of these adapters 401 Battery to 510 Atomizer adapter (the 403 should be the same connecter as the 401) and use a 510 cartomizer. I find cartos to be the easiest way to go. I fill 4 or 5 in the morning and don't have to mess with anything else all day.

Hey Elana, if you want to try a cartomizer sometime you could get one of these adapters [link removed...because i still can't even QUOTE links] (the 403 should be the same connecter as the 401) and use a 510 cartomizer. I need to read up on cartomizers more. Does it end up being cheaper than buying the atomizers themselves?

Cartomizers are supposed to be a one time use kind of thing but they are refillable. I've been refilling mine about 5 times before they start to get clogged and taste a little funny. A cartomizer is a cartridge with a built in atomizer. They hold quite a bit more juice than a regular cartridge. I go through about 4, lets say 5 full cartos in a day but I vape quite a bit.
An atomizer for my models (901 & 510) run about $7.00 or $8.00 a piece and last me a month or two. A box of 5 cartos costs $8.00 or $9.00 and I guess that's about a weeks worth so it's not cheaper but it is a LOT more convenient and I figure I would be spending more than $8.00 a day if I was still buying smokes so there's a lot of room for rationalization.
