I can feel your pain. I've got severe COPD, I understand about all the medications, inhalers, nebulizers etc. etc. I looked at this forum for a while and found that "Hoosierecig.com" (sorry I can't post links but google will take you there) I found a kGo starter kit that comes complete with 2 1100mah batteries, charger, atomizers all for about $45.00. It has the 510 threads so you can find all sorts of things to put your juice in. Before it showed up I found a brick and mortar shop that had the eGo twist. I would up buying a starter kit of the twist also. 1000mah battery and offbrand clearomizers. I can't complain about either of the two sets. Both are working out really well. I was a 2-3 pack a day smoker and have tapered down to almost no analogs. I went to my lung doc yesterday and he informed me that my lungs have never sounded so clear before. Both of these will fit in a pen pocket of my uniform. This is day 15 for me and YES I can really tell the difference. Whatever choice you make, Just know that the people on this forum are all fantastic and will give advice and also support. Good luck and Happy Birthday.

I too started with a Blu, learned to refill them, and now have an ego twist, some tanks and stuff, but still use my Blu's.

You mentioned a burnt taste, which is probably the filler in the carts, throw them away, no matter what you do, you can't get rid of it.

+1 to the get some juices, some new carts, and refill them. Actually, if you match the flavors you buy to something close to the originals, then I would just drip them a few times a day, and not ever let them get close to dry. You can make one of those cartridges last a good long while if it doesn't dry out.

As far as it feeling like smoking, you might be lacking Throat Hit. I'm pretty darn sure Blu originals are 100% VG, which is not known for TH. Try getting some juice in PG (or higher percentage PG) mix? It might help you feel the inhale more, and stop pulling so hard to get a "hit".

I love the Blu, I'm not at all sorry I bought it .. that being said, the Twists and a tank or two are probaly the direction you are going to want to take.

I agree about the Ego Twists. I started using Cig02 that I got at a local tobacco store, then after a month or two I got an Ego Kit, then the twists. I recently got a Smok Tech Vmax, which I'm really happy with. Getting VV has really made a difference. Congratulation tnt56! I hope you have continued success.

Wow all such awesome responses and advice. I will certainly look into a local shop, but, I have good news.

I sold my blu to someone else, on top of that I got an RMA to send back my prosmoke! Woo, over priced newbie stuff is on it's way out!

Having said that I will really miss the blu, but it had to go. I need the funds to start on the right path. I'm now plus $60 bucks! Will that be enough to get a quality setup and some ejuice? I dunno. Like I mentioned in my OP, I am a pretty active person, on the move, work a fair amount of double shifts. As such, the mini style really fit me. I can slap the kit in it's box, it charges up on my way to work in my pocket. While at work, I could step away and vape a lil whenever I have a sec. That will be missed, and if somehow I can retain an amount of portability and usability that the blu offered that would be awesome. I can't see myself putting a big battery and tank in my pocket to drive/run around at work.(work at a restaurant)

So ideally I would like to get something that either has a PCC, or big enough mah to last my work day and still fit in my pocket. A 510 kit seems to fit the bill but I am not sure which route to go or even where to buy it from. I am looking at that deal on discountvapes but not sure about the size, or how long the charge will last me.(thinking pocket sized and one packs worth of puffs) The twist battery looks massive, and while my pockets are big there are also keys and such in there it has to share room with.(I can easily fit the blu PCC in there)

Side note, just had my first analog in a while and WOW it's harsh.

Update: No local shops here in austin, tx as far as I can tell.

Hate to bump, I've been reading through and checking into vendors and brands and 510 kits. It's just really confusing... Has anyone any advice on the 510 front for a good setup that I can take to work in a pocket and step away and vape at occasionally. Boge 510 cartos, LR or standard? What battery? The charger stuff seems simple enough, but I would also like to look into a PCC, or case in general.

Everyone has their own favorite. I like the Volts with Ikenvape LR Mega808 cartos for minis(these are 808 threaded batts/cartos), but others prefer other things.... bigger batteries are not as big as you think. It's like holding a small cigar and you get used to it quickly - so don't let the slightly bigger size put you off.

Order another Twist battery from Virgin. Having a minimum of two batteries is an absolute must. Buy another when your budget allows so you have a spare.

There are discussions about Austin brick and mortar shops in this thread and this thread. You might want to check them out for juices. Chasing down juices you like can get expensive and frustrating. Being able to sample juices at a store before purchasing should save you some time, money and aggravation

I hate to be a burden and jump on a forum just asking for strangers help.... But I promise to help contribute to newbies if/when I am more knowledgeable in this new(to me) area.

Feel free, that's what ECF is for. I swear, I would not have survived quitting analogs without the members here. We are all here for you........and then some!

So I want to get off cancer sticks....And fast.

Can't be fast enough IMHO. Stick around and ask away. You'll be fine.

While some people have been successful with those over-the-counter type of kits, many are not.

Keep checking treasure chest maybe somebody will be giving away something you can use. !

I'm not one of those people that steer people away from the cig sized devices. The feel of those little batts is very comforting when you are making the switch. Most people end up moving on from them, but there is no harm in starting with a kr8 or a Joye 510. If a new vaper thinks they can get over the feel of a larger device, then by all means, jump right in. Whatever it takes to kick the analogs.

I started straight in with a kit last night. I ordered from Bloog based a friends reco. Not sure if it was the "right" way to go or not, but so far, so good. It takes a little getting used to, especially the draw. The flavor isn't 'spot on', but with so many different companies out there, I'm sure to find something that will suit my tastes. I'm positive I can make this work.

Ok I bought the twists and stuff. Unfortunately all I have are analogs atm while I wait. Forgot how bad they taste/smell already. I'm thinking ill get a vivi nova or other tank for home and use cartos on the go and at work. Well see, wondering how long usps priority takes from virginvapor...

I've no firsthand experience but I have seen several posts indicating that the Blu disposables (not the kit) from Walmart aren't too bad. I would agree that the Vivi Nova is well worth trying. Personally, I prefer them to my Boge LR 2.0 cartomizers.

Hope your order arrives quickly. You'll love the Twists.

I'm still fairly new myself. I started off with Blu's as well. Didn't satisfy. Most here would tell you that you should stay away from cigarette look-a-like ecigs. What did work for me was an ego battery and a vivi Nova tank. I would recommend you visit discountvapers.com. Buy yourself a couple eGo twist batteries and a Vivi Nova or two. Don't forget a charger. I can't remember if they have juice available there or not. If they do, get some if not, try pinkspotvapers.com. good luck and stick with it. It gets much better than Blu's.

Waaaahh?!??!? Pinkspot has great juice but is expensive on a budget cheapest decent juice around that ive found is ECBlends tons of flavor and 15ml bottles for $5.95, ego-t batt with some boge 2.0ohms or smoktech 1.7 singles and you are good, madvapes has a good selection for cheap and easy ordering.

Happy Vaping

Bought a blu disposable to tie me over after the horrid pack of analogs, not too shabby more vapor and TH off it for sure.

I'm so happy to hear that the Blu disposables are getting you by until your order arrives. I believe that I saw someone post that they are 24 mg of nicotine so if they work you can start at that level when ordering juice. Also, the Blu might be good thing to take on your camping trip if charging the Twists might be a problem.

Blu is owned now by Lorillard - the company that makes Kent and Newport cigarettes. Please avoid them at all costs and do not support Big Tobacco's infiltration into the ecig market. They've made more than enough money as death dealers.

If you have any questions that linger despite the many helpful posts made on this thread please refer to my blog, The Vaper's Handbook, and there you will find many answers.
