Hi, folks. Thanks for having me. I'm 64, smoked from the age of 15, just over four years off the butts, and as many using a vape to keep me off of them, but I'd like to ween myself off over this year if possible. I absolutely cannot go back to smoking, as I'm currently on a bladder cancer watch; I'd no idea smoking was a major cause of it. Better late than never they say.

Hope to get some help in here, as it's doing a number on my throat. My voice has audibly altered as a result of this. Also I'm currently fighting my ex in court to get back my inheritance, and have zip for income unless something happens soon, I'll be homeless as well. Golden years, my .....

Best to you all.

Welcome to ECF, Wanderlustus. I'm sure you will get much positive feedback PG alternatives and there are quite a few folks here that have reduced their nic intake to 0, and some that have even stopped vaping altogether.

Drink plenty of water, as vaping dries the mucous membranes in the mouth. You did not mention what you are currently using and the pg/vg ratio in your juice. Many are allergic to PG and some may be more sensitive to VG.
    I actually do drink lots of water, Storm, and yes, I did forget that bit;
Tru Unflavoured 50/50 - Vapen Juice, 3 mg/mL, but that's the only info the site gives.

Sorry, Geekvape Q Replacement Pod Cartridge 3 Pack 0.8ohm.

Edit: It's a refillable. What really irritates me about it is they don't even have instructions about how many times one should refill/use these pods. It's likely I've overused them without realizing it.

Is your juice vaporizing fully? If not, the drops of juice are hot enough to scald your throat. Usually I hear of this when people flood their tank but try to "power through it" instead of purging. Or sometimes its when people use the wrong coil for their preferred vaping style. Just a thought.
Honestly, I don't know enough about vaping to answer that question.

I just found this bit and sliding the airflow adjuster to the bottom definitely give a cooler inhale:

"Draw Type: Supports a tight MTL (closed airflow) for a cigarette-like feel, or a more open, airy, and cooler vape (open airflow)."

Maybe this is what I was doing wrong; I previously had it set about half-way. Much more harsh a hit.

I don't have the mod you use, but in general there's 2 types of pods. One type has a removable coil, the other the coil is built in. If your pods have built in coils they should be changed when the coil goes, but the pod with the removable coil can last indefinitely with care and cleaning. The main things to watch for to indicate one of those is going out would be cracks in the tank caused by sun exposure, cracks caused by certain flavors(menthol/mint/citrus), or the rubber plug will start fraying and loosening its seal in your fill port. Strong flavors (clove, etc.) can "mark" a pod so that no matter how much you clean it there will always be a little trace. Just dedicate that pod to that flavor and theres no problem. Hope some of this helps answer whether you need a new pod or not.

Damn, I should really let my post sit a bit before hitting send. A few more things I forgot to mention right there.

These built in, disposable pods, and the one I have in it now I put in jus two days ago. I also only use unflavoured, low nic juice, and thinking about going no nic once this last juice container is empty.

I'll keep an eye out for the other things you mention about the pod's life being up.

Thanks to all for the help here. Cheers.

What really irritates me about it is they don't even have instructions about how many times one should refill/use these pods.

It depends on the e-liquid. As you're vaping unflavored, your coils should last quite a while. Some flavors are really hard on coils and there are times when you'll only get a week's use out of them before they need to be changed.

For unflavored e-liquids, when you detect a change in "taste", it's probably a sign that you need to replace the pod.

Thanks. I'm going to have to start looking around for one that doesn't have PG. I've been told that can be a throat irritant as well.
