I'm kidding haha. Well I ordered a vision spinner and a vivi nova tank a week ago, the package must arrive tomorrow in the morning or so. I'm excited about it, just got to make some e-liquid today (yeah a noob doing DIY liquid haha, I hope im not the only one but here in mexico the e-liquid is so damn expensive that I decided to do mine).

I do this thread just to ask every person that reads it to give me one tip that would be useful for a noob.

I've been reading a lot about vaping and I'm familiar to some terms but I'm not sure about how to take care of my vaprizer. I want to know stuff like what to do right when you get your vaporizer, if I need to dry burn the coils right away, how to keep it when not using it (if the position you leave it may spill out some e-liquid) etc etc.

lol, I'm not a big drinker either but people say all the time that it dehydrates them... I haven't really noticed like, but it will prob be a good tip to keep in mind.

Enjoy becoming smoke free man, you will enjoy vaping so much more than analogues!

When I first started I ended up buying so many different kits just to find the one I liked. Soon after I realised that I'm all about the flavour, I am quite a tough cookie to please when it comes to this. My only advice to you would be read tons of reviews on liquids and buy a few samples at a time. I used to purchase 3 or 4 bottles just to find that I only likes one - I used to have a drawer full of bottles I didn't like.

Today I enjoy vaping on something with an minty/icy kick to it. I mix my own now so I can get things to my exact liking.

When you mix your liquids make sure and give them time to steep. Usually a week or longer. Keep your nicotine base out of reach of children. Download the EJuiceMeUp calculator or something similar to make sure you're getting the percentage correct. Click your battery 5 times to turn on and turn off. Once you fill your tank let it sit for several minutes to make sure the wick is fully soaked. Make the the voltage sitting at the base of the battery is set at a low setting. You can turn it up some after you're sure it working correctly. Pay attention to the ohms rating on the vivi nova coil. Low ohms = low volts and higher ohms can take higher volts. try not to drop your battery on a hard surface. Have a back up for everything. I could do this all day lol but will stop for now.

me and a buddy just started a youtube page were going to try and make it for beginners im uploading a quick video on clearomizers as we speak. The Nova is a great tank i love mine it never leaks and i never get a burnt taste. I always soak all the parts (NOT THE COIL) in rubbing alcohol. let it dry and rinse it with water really really good to make sure its all out. You never know if there is anything left in the tank from the factory. then feel it and your good to go! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gNZYsvcOhak

Hi bolvak and welcome to ECF. Good luck on DIY juices. That is something I haven't tried yet, but I understand that if pre-made juice is really expensive, it would make sense to go that direction. I'm sure you'll find tons of info in the DIY juice section of this forum.

I use a Vision Spinner and am really happy with it, so it should be great for you. When I joined, the folks here offered lots of good suggestions.

I'll add one thing that they shared with me that has been helpful. Have backups to all of your gear and backups to your backups. I would hate to have a discharged battery or equipment failure give me an excuse to go back to analogs. That advice has been really helpful because I have always had a security blanket because of that suggestion. Now, after 4 months, I have multiple backups for everything (because more is better...oh wait, that is what got me in lots of trouble in other parts of my life) and have enough batteries, clearos and coils to last me about 6 months and enough juice to last about 90 days. And I always carry a spare kit with me that includes a charged battery, a clearo and a small bottle of juice.

Hope you enjoy participating in the forum and that your vaping journey provides tons of satisfaction and tasty fun. Namaste.

Backups. Standardize on something. Once you get the hang of it, get off the internet and just live your life. In a few weeks, come back to the Forum and report how well you are doing.

It is nice to have a B&M near you. Become friends with them.

The goal is not to quit smoking cigarettes. F that. The goal is to not want one.

The savings are based on how much you smoked in the past. Don't feel bad spending 2 months of savings for good equipment and juice. Everyone eventually gets the Provari.

always have a backup. you might not think so now but if something breaks what are you going to vape out of? keep drinking water since it does dehydrate you ( always good to drink alot of water anyway. ) more is not less when comes to vaping. the more you get the more you'll want to get. at least thats how i feel Lol

This is going to be a pretty long post...

I have been smoke free for about five months (used to smoke two or three packs a day). It's really hard the first months, I even remember waking up in the middle of the night thinking about smoking. I guess I'll have to stick up to the spinner and vivi nova tank as long as I can because my budget isn't too big. I did a vanilla 70/30 VG/PG mix and a Lemon and mint 50/50 mix to start testing haha. I think doint them by myself will be helpful as a hobbie and a way to distract my mind from the anxiety. I guess my perfect mix would be one that makes a lot of smoke and still gets good amount of flavor. I don't know how hard is to get that haha.

Well as I've been five months without smoking one cigarrete I decided to go for the nicotine free e-liquids, will those need also a week to steep? Im really worried about that because if I do need to wait I need to know so I can get some e-liquid from a local store haha.

I actually used a calculator to get the closest ammount of precision on the percentages. How much is "several minutes" when waiting for the e-liquid to sit on the tank?

Thanks for all the other tips, I feel good saying that I've already read about it all haha.

I just watched that video, is great! have you noticed that you look a little orange on it? haha also, great camera quality man. Good luck one your channel, be very constant with the videos and be as much as you can in contact with your subscribers. Just a few tips from a guy with a brother who earns his living through YT videos haha. ;)

When you say Backups, you mean for everything or like coils and batteries?

Haha exactly, I know how hard is to stop thinking about having a smoke. I've been fighting against myself for five months and haven't smoked one cig since the day I decided to quit. Its so damn hard that I even wake up at the middle of the night wanting one cigarrete haha. I hope vaping will help me a lot.

Hi ccubed, doing e-liquids isn't hard at all. Specially if you aren't using nicotine as me haha, but I still have to try them to know if I'm doing fine or have to change something. I'll try to get backups as soon as I get paid haha. I guess I'll be able to survive for a good ammount of time with the three coils the vivi nova comes with and three 15ml bottles of e-juice I made (of course, only if its good haha). Thanks for the reply, I'll do what you say.

In America they say don't drink the water when you go to Mexico. But, most people drink only bottled water here nowdays like a lot of other countries. Anyway, you let the liquid in the tank set for awhile to let the heating coil and cotton material soak up the juice. if the coil is dry you will get a dry hit which doesn't taste good at all. Regarding nicotine - its the nicotine that you feel in the throat when you are vaping. Without the nicotine you wont feel much of a TH (Throat Hit) at all. Most people need to feel that. If you can get by without it that's great. Me, I vape 18mg nicotine which is on the high side. I think a lot of people get by with 6mg or so.

Good luck. And good job on 5 mos cold turkey!

Clean all your tanks and stuff the day you get it. I use dawn dish soap and scolding hot water. Let it sit for 5 min. Rinse and repeat a few times.
After that I maintain them by giving them a good rinse every day or two. I run the parts under hot water for about 5 minutes, filling and shaking the tank vigorously with some hot water in it. I'm going to start dry burning my coils to make them last longer. The vivi heads are pretty good. I clear my tank a few times a week, and I'm still on the same 3 heads I bought 6 months ago (+the heads that came with it).

You don't need to drowned your self with water. Just keep it handy and take a few drinks when you start to get thirsty.

Steeping is to let the flavors and base components to combine, so I believe some steeping will be required even without nic.

I like to keep a few different tanks with different liquids in them to change up the flavors.

For your backup get a passthrough. It sucks when both batteries are charging, but at least with a passthrough (USB plug in the bottom for charging) you can still vape on it, so your not totally out of luck!

For your next tank I'd say get something with a bottom coil like a pro tank or evod. The heads are cheaper to replace and it will give you something different to experiment with.

With the vivi, make sure when you put the top cap back on that you are not spinning the atomizer head. I've had some come loose on me and not vape because they didn't make proper contact with its base. Also watch the top rubber grommet. Take your drip tip out and make sure the top cap isn't pinching the grommet causing your tank to leak into the mouthpiece when it's on its side. I usually take the mouth piece off when putting the topcap on and use a spare blunt tip dripper to push the grommet back away from the opening for the driptip. Screw the cap on until you start to get some resistance from the grommet, then do this. Screw it the rest of the way down but keep an eye on it. Mine is 6 months old, so they may have fixed some of these things.

I'll quit for now :)

Something that can help you with vaping is go to YouTube and type in whatever equipment you're using and there should be a lot of reviews available to watch. Vaping is starting to get big and a lot of people are talking about it. I like the reviews at ToddsReviews.com and RIP Trippers on YouTube. There is also a guy named PBusaro (I think I misspelled his name) who has good reviews.

Check the forum. There are a ton of threads on steeping juice.

It give time for the components that make up the juice to blend. This allows the flavors to mellow out in some cases, or mature in others. The juice makers website (or the vendor him self if you buy b&m) usually have some recommendations for steeping. It usually involves daily shaking to help facilitate this. Also, many recommend oxidation, so take the cap off and squeeze the air out every once in a while if it smells or tastes "perfumey." Tobacco and Coffee flavors tend to be more suborn because of the complexity of the flavors (based on what I've read) so they can take longer to steep than fruity juices.
