Good Afternoon.

I am a newbie, started vaping 3 weeks ago.

I was a hardcore Marlboro Red smoker, and I still would be, except nobody has ashtrays anymore (including me, my finance threw mine away).

Started out with a couple of crappy disposables from the local tobacco shop. Moved up to a crappy refillable from the same shop. Very little vapor, and what there was tasted like dirt.

Bought and returned a Blu kit on the web, decent enough product. Not much vapor. I didn't like the "tobacco" flavor, tasted like pipe tobacco, a little too sweet for a Red smoker. Battery life was terrible, I was charging my two batteries three times a day.

I am currently trying out the Volt. Good cloud of vapor. Good throat hit with the "Cowboy". Battery life is good, but not great. I like the flavor selection, they have several "tobacco" flavors that I could live with, but I haven't fallen in love with any of them. You can buy the cartridges or refill them, refilling is cheaper, but the price of the cartridges is not bad. This product, from what I understand, is nearly identicle to the Bloog, just a bit cheaper.

For other "newbies" I accidentally stumbled into a very good e-cig case. I already owned it, it was a nylon holster for a small multi-tool, 4" x 2.5", it holds three batteries and 4 cartridges. Once I knew what I was looking for, I found similar items in many sizes by searching the web for nylon knife sheaths.

Still don't know what I am doing, or exactly what I am looking for, but I think the Volt will do until I find out.

You can also use cartos from Vapor4Life (try the WOW Tobacco Shop sampler w/ WOWbacco in it - but these flavors have alot of TH in WOW cartos so you may want 1 nic level lower than usual). And check Bloogplanet Maxxfusion cartos and Halocigs G6 cartos. I think V2cigs, Cig2o and Cig2go are also KR808D-1 as is the Easy at Cigeasy.come

Or buy blank cartos and fill them yourself.

There is no comparison chart for good ecigs. There are bs comparison charts of ripoff rebrander models on the web so they can each claim they are the best and top rated and have the most imaginary long-lasting carts.

What you have, KR808D-1, at 3.7v (possibly 3.6v for Bloog) is the highest voltage slim mini ecig available (most others are 3.2 to 3.4 volts). If you have auto batteries, try manuals for ease in getting a good hit (and I recommend the Vapor4Life or original manufacturer gold-button manuals - not quite as perfectly sealed as Bloog/SmokelessImage manuals but the button is easier to press - I use both since that Raspberry color at SI is so sweet). If a KR808D-1 with a Vapor4Life WOW cart is not enough hit for you, then you have to go to fat batteries and mods so you can use even lower resistance cartomizers.

BTW - sign up for Vapor4Life sale emails (lower left front page) - they have frequent short sales. I got 24% off any size order this past weekend. I buy during sales and that makes up for their $6.99 shipping. I got $12 off my order and paid $7 shipping so that is still a $5 savings.

Juices - there are hundreds. I find juices with 20% or less VG work best for me in slim ecig cartos. And the Vapor4Life WOW juices are thin too - some are overflavored so try samplers or cartos, but I like the WOWbacco (cocoa tobacco) and the WOW Vanilla (sharp and sweet). Also sign up at Gourmet Vapor - they have infrequent but usually huge sales. The flavors are a bit of a crapshoot - many are customer creations - but in some sales they are under $2 per bottle. I like their vanillarum (vanilla w/ caramel and rum) and I play with the flavor creator (marking mine private unless they come out well)

Thanks Dormouse.

Yeah, I gave up on the comparison charts early on, decided they were nothing more than advertising in disguise.

I don't know that I have what you call a "slim mini ecig" the battery is 75mm long, a lot longer and quite a bit thicker than the Blu batteries I started with. The Blu was about the same diameter as a cigarette, and about the same length including the cartomizer, a very small battery.

It is good to know that I have a wide choice in cartridges, just starting out, so I will be trying a few.

Thanks,

Pete

My advice for you since you are having a battery life issue is to look at something like an eGo, a Riva, and E-power or something that falls into the fat-battery category. You can still use cartomizers on the fat batteries you just ignore the atomizer and cartrigdes that come with it and buy cartomizers to fit. 510 is the most common but if you still have a bunch of the 808 cartos around, get a 510 to 808 adapter (about 3 bucks) and you can use the same cartos you are using now on the new equipment.

I have an E-power. One battery lasts 10-12 hours. They are cheaper than the 808 batteries if you want extras (about 6-8 bucks).

Blu is a super-mini

Anything 100mm+ assembled and slim is technically a mini

You can use a bigger true 3.7v battery like the Riva 510 kits at Liberty Flights (under $30 for the Lite Bundle after pressed the 20% off front page) or the Epower (either with a 510 to 808 adapter) but that will just give you more battery charge, not more heat if you are using the same cartomizer. But the fat battery models and 3.7v mods (even the little 3.7v cheap box mods) can also use lower resistance hotter cartos for a hotter vape. These cartos are mostly blanks - since 510 is sold as a 3-piece there are few prefilled cartos for it.

If you want to get some additional heat out of Bloog or Vapor4Life cartos, you go variable voltage mod.

But try the Vapor4Life WOW cartos - lots of tobacco flavors to try there and many are in 5-carto samplers. My fave WOWbacco (cocoa tobacco) may sound weird but Marlboros have cocoa in them as do every US brand of cigs I have ever smoked. You be amazed how a little whiff of cocoa helps. Some people hand mix their fave tobacco eliquid with a chocolate or cocoa eliquid to approximate marlboros. Once you have enough posts (5 and an hour's wait) check the ECF classifieds too - people often sell V4L prefilled cartos at a good price - see what you can find.
