The First part Might be a slight misadvertisement as I'm not necessarily moving from cartos to cartridges. We'll see how this goes. I'm a new vaper (2 weeks, vaping, only 4 analogs smoked. I was a pack+ a day smoker, and before had never been able to quit (on patches) for longer than 4 days), and have tried smoktech LR cartos and Vision LR stardusts on my ego 650mah.
I wanted to try dripping, so online I ordered 2 attys (one regular and one LR). I figured since the 5 cartos my starter kit came with had been filled with other flavors, I might as well take advantage of the cheaper price of cartridges online and order 10 cartridges to go with my atomizers.
They arrived today.
The direct dripping was awesome as it gave me a chance to sample the multiple flavors I've been overspending on and couldn't test out in my paltry 3 vision clearomizers (one is working perfectly and I use it the majority of the time, one started showing vape inside and is leaking, and one tastes like mildew or musty ...., but that might be from the sample blend I got and put in the clearo without testing first... a rookie mistake I do not plan on repeating).
Sorry it is taking me a while to get to my point. Been over-served (by myself).
I know how to fill a smoktech dual coil carto through the shake-down method. Works fine. Switched to stardusts.... work well and since they are clear, I don't have to worry about how much liquid is inside as I tend to overestimate how much I've vaped and when topping off I flood my cartos (another rookie mistake I plan on rectifying).
When I opened up my cartridge for the first time to fill it, I was shocked by the amount of white filler. I was used to cartos with that little ring of pollyfill inside. Not this giant tangle of bush y material) I put a drop or three of 60pg/40vg watermelon juice into my new cartridge and it just didn't soak in, at least for a while. Tried the shake method but just didn't seem to be working as I am used to with carttys. Considering all the filling in the cartridge as compared to the cartomizers, I figured there was a method I didn't know about and I must be doing it wrong. Then I remembered a video or two I saw on the condom method. So I filled some of the juice into the condom it came with, and put it on the mouth tip end of the cartridge. I couldn't remove the mouth tip itself on this cartridge; it wasn't one of the white rubbery tips I'm used to; It was built in to the cartridge.
I put some juice via Trojan into the pee-hole sized built-in end, and after a moment or two of remedial revelations, I figured the fuzzy fill end probably would be easier to push the juice through (being honest, it took me 3 tries of pushing the juice through the tiny mouth vape hole before I realized the WIDE-open polyfill end might be better).
So I pushed a condom or two into the fuzzy end (is condom a technical term? Sorry for the jargon) and after drizzling an embarrassing amount of juice onto my hands I believed I had it filled.
Seems to work alright. I'm not sure how the juice gets down to the atty between the space of the fuzz (pollyfill) and the mesh of the atty, but I think it works okay. Lots of vapor but the taste isn't quite the same (but I still don't trust my tastebuds, so I could be vaping snozzberries for all I know).
What was my question? Ummm..... Did I have a point?
Oh yeah. What advice would you give to the person above (assuming they are sober and can absorb your advice.... NOT me by any means) concerning cartridges? From my frolics through the forum, it seems like nobody uses them anymore. Am I wrong? I still have more carts to go through and am too cheap to be willing to waste them if i can avoid it. Are there any advocates? Am I filling them wrong? Will flooding hurt my atty or closed battery? Should I give up hypnosis and go into car repair........?
Maybe I can do both.
Please help me.
thank you ECF. I love you
