Hi I am ready to start the e-cig process. I have talked to my dr and he says go for it!! I have been looking and am amazed at the numbers of places to get e-cigs and at the difference in price.
I am trying to get some idea as to what would be the best one to try. I hear about juice and not to clear on that but I am sure I will find that out.
To give you a little info I have been smoking for 35 years. I smoke Winston Ultra Light 100's and smoke about 2 - 2.5 packs a day. I know I need to quit but honestly I enjoy smoking.
Thank you all for you anticipated responses!!

My best advice is don't buy one that looks like a real cigarette. They don't have a long battery life and with being as heavy of a smoker as you, you'd most likely be disappointed very quickly. Look for something with a much longer battery life like the eGo. You'll need to get at least one extra battery, extra atomizers and extra cartridges. As for the juice, you'll want to get different levels of nicotine. There is no way to say for sure what level of nicotine will work best for you since it's absorbed into the body differently than with cigarettes. It's a matter of trial and error.

I'm sure once you get started, you'll love vaping! It's amazing the changes that happen when you get off the analogs and it's equally amazing at how quickly those changes can happen. I'm sure others will have more advice than what I've given you, so just hang tight and I know people will add their advice.

Hi and welcome to ECF. If you're looking for an alternative to tobacco because you enjoy smoking you've come to the right place. Vaping is the closest thing to it that you'll find, some people like it better. Which one depends on a number of things. If you are a 2 pad smoker you'll need something that has good battery life for sure. It also depends on how much you can spend, how much vapor you want, throat hit requirements, if you're at a computer all day. I guess what I'm saying is you need to provide a bit more info for people to make good recommendations. Keep in mind that many of us vape more than we smoked for various reasons, namely because we can. You don't have to worry about your lungs and breathing nearly as much, your health will improve within a few days or weeks, and it doesn't cost nearly as much as cig's.

Trip, if you enjoy smoking you will LOVE vaping. Everyone has equipment that they enjoy and many of us has alot that we are "stuck" with because we didn't research enough before we bought. After many trial and errors....I would highly recommend an Ego or similar unit. (Hello 16, Tornado, Riva). These will except 510 parts including the atomizers and cartomizers which are available through most the vendors here. This will make it easy to get parts when ordering e-juice or other things. Make sure you get at least 2 batteries and 2 atomizers. The battery life of these types of units means less charging and more vaping.

The e-juice question......I would recommend NOT trying to find a flavor to match Winstons.....try flavors that sound good to you in SMALL quantities until you find ones you like best. (One of my favorites is Mint....I NEVER did like Menthol cigarettes). Finding the right flavors and nicotine levels will mean everything to your success.....start with 18-24mg nicotine....try tobacco flavors like Wyatt Erp from www.FreedomSmokesUSA.com but above all don't be afraid to try other flavors....just get some small sampler bottles and go crazy!.....When you find your "sweet spot" you will know it!
Good luck!

thank you all. Yes I am at my computer for the majority of the day. And I find that when I am on the computer I smoke a lot more. what type of info should I provide? At this point I am an open book, I want to stop smoking cigarettes but not wanting to give up the habit. the cost is always important but not on the top of the list. I don't mind spending a little more if I am getting a better product.

and if your at the computer for a good part of the day, definitly get a Pass Through. Its a battery that hooks up to your usb port on your computer and you can use it forever. and save the regular batteries when your away fromt the computer. I think you will LOVE Vaping! especially if you enjoyed smoking. Alota people say they hate smoking but just cant quit. I loved smoking and didn't want to quit. until e-cigs came along :) Best of luck!!

Agreed with others, get yourself an Ego or Riva. I have the Ego from Cignot.com, I would also recommend, if your not worried about the expense, get yourself set up with one of the 1000 batteries as well, longer battery life..be sure to get extra carts and attys as well and a drip tip (cignots are 2.50! and I love them)...I have the 650's and vape like a fiend when I'm on the computer, will do the 1000 next and a pass through for my computer....LOL...I love the look of my ego, got the platinum and the black and interchange for the color scheme...LOL...the juices will take a bit to get a handle on, I have been ordering sample bottle sizes from Madvapes, Vaporbomb, Ms. T's Bakery and have found that the fried apple from Madvapes is my 'go to' juice right now (currently have my drip tip on typing and having a vape fest going...LOL)....I LOVED smoking, 40 years of love and $$$, this is MUCH better, I don't reak, I can breath and I feel much better!

Enjoy the ride, it's a learning experience but so much fun!

Before making a purchase, always check this section of forum: E Cigarette Suppliers Forum

Sometimes there are super deals.

One of them is here: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/e-cigarette-suppliers-forum/123813-29-99-riva-510-riva-901-kits-2-99-shipping-20-off-all-stock.html

Today they are out of stock for 510 Riva, but promised to restock.

You can get a 510 Riva kit for 29.99 - best deal ever.
Joye Ego goes only for $51.96 - best Joye Ego deal too.

But I would stick to 510 Riva - they are almost same and makes no sense to overpay $20 for branding.

If you going to start vaping, add drip tip and some juices. You can get all you need for less than $50 shipped.
