Just getting into ecigs. I've purchased several brands for taste tests and to see which perform well and hold up. Ordered GreenSmoke, Premium, Modern Vapor, Smokestik, and bought Cig2o from a local vendor here in Hawaii. The Smokestik has been great so far (one day's worth). So-so on the Cig2o. Haven't rec'd the rest yet. If anyone has had any experience with any of these brands, could you share your thoughts about them? Also what I really would like to find is a brand that has a soft tip cartomizer. Or a soft tip that I can use on one of the brands above. Any recommendations? Can't wait to get started on these!

salliezoo. I have to suggest you not buy from companies who only sell "brand name" ecigs. I find that nearly all of these companies sell inferior products at inflated prices. All these ecigs are made in China by a few different manufacturers and these guys buy the ones that they can get the cheapest and re name them so it looks like it's their product. They try to make it look like they have something special so they can jack the price up.
So, what do I suggest? First go to this thread and read through it http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...st-electronic-cigarette-first-time-vaper.html
Then visit one or all of these tried and true supplier sites.

mist in the woods is right...i almost got stuck with a greensmoke e-cig but luckily i found reviews before it shipped and got a full refund. If it had shipped i'd had been out about $10 on cartridges i couldn't send back to the manufacturer.
There are defiantely cheaper and more reliable e-cigs out there. Youtube is your friend.

Thanks for the response...checked out the links and found a lot of good info. Must admit some of the lingo associated with vaping has left me lost at sea sans compass. Someone needs to publish a Vaping Dictionary for Dummies book. The reason we newbies are suckers for brand names and starter kits is its written in plain english. And while the internet (You Tube etal) is a great resource, its easy to find yourself in the "too much information" paralysis stage early on. Makes you want to head straight back to the analog comfort zone. LOL. Anyway...another question. I used my Modern Vapor manual passthru for the first time today and really like it. One of the few ecigs that I have tried that gave me lots of vapor. Are there any advantages in using the manual rather than the automatic? Does a manual give a stronger hit and more vapor...or are they about the same?

I live on Oahu and ordered my kit from Cignot your Midwest Electronic Cigarette store.. I have a 510 and an eGo, the latter of which is my favorite by far. I order my juices from FreedomsmokeUSA and Tastyvapor. My kits arrived in 4 days or less, with free shipping. I searched everywhere for a reasonable local vendor and couldn't find one. I suggest using what you have since you already shelled out the cash for them, then research which model they are and stick to the more universal one. The 510 is great, so if one of yours is a 510 just buy parts from an online vendor.

As for the most important part the ejuice, I'd research it plenty. I had some ejuice that was horrible and I'm almost out of my small samples that were tolerable. Good juice makes or breaks the experience, check out some of the forum vendors and look at the reviews.

Thanks so much to all for the advice to date...all VERY helpful. Seems after trying a 1000 ecig brands and styles...I still prefer the performance of the Modern Vapor 902. Lots of vapor, and feels most like an analog to me because its so slender. And has a flat-tip cartridge which is very helpful in getting a good draw...the round ones are just not easy for me. The bad part of the MV902 is its a 3pc and doesn't use cartomizers. I feel like I am constantly changing or refilling cartridges. Is there any other brand/model that has a really thin battery and uses cartos? [Smokestik does make one, but they charge about $4-$5 for a single carto and no other cartomizers are compatible]. Impossible dream? OR... in lieu of the perfect cheer..is there such a thing as an flat-tip mouth piece you can add onto a reg cartomizer?

I wish I could help you with a suggestion for a slender ecig that uses cartos but I gave up on standard ecig batteries fairly early on. About a month in, actually.
I do use cartos.... and whistle tips. I pop the rubber cap out of the cartos and cut off all but 1/8" from the end that fits in an atty of a whistle tip cart and put it in where the carto plug was.
Have you looked into a kr808 D-1 model? They're pretty thin and I hear the batteries are pretty good for a standard ecig. They use cartos but a 901 atty will also work with them.

Thanks! That works great. Whistle tips definitely helped on the 808s. Also found that SmokeStik has been working for me. Small cigarette size and I don't need the whistle tip on them to get a great draw. Its also the only automatic that has worked well for me. I prefer not pushing a button, but the other automatics out there have not worked that well for me. Inconsistent draw and not much vapor. The SmokeStik has somehow eliminated that problem. And they are really good looking, especially the gun metal colored Hendu with the purple crystal tip. Just wish they had more choices for tobacco flavors or a different stock flavor. But am refilling the cartomizers with juices I like better. And they don't have a PCC case yet.
