Newbie on day 13 of using an e-cigarette!

Hi everyone!

I'm brand new to the forum and brand new to using an e-cigarette - just started on them 13 days ago, and doing alright. :) I haven't had an analog in 10 days - the longest I have gone without being in the hospital since I started smoking (hospital record was 15 days, and I was not conscious for all of it)!

I'm using a Volcano kit - currently have an automatic setup but definitely interested in expanding/upgrading sometime in the near future. I will say that I mostly chose it because it was the same size as a cigarette, and I don't want a large/bulky device - so if anyone has suggestions on something that isn't massive but may give me added functionality, I'm all ears!

I have really been enjoying different e-juice flavors, too - my favorite so far is the clove I got from Vapor Bomb, which I mix with some tobacco flavored juice I ordered with my starter kit - it is almost like the Djarum Blacks I loved so very much. Also a fan of pomegranate, vanilla, and menthol (which I find weird as I hated menthol cigarettes!). I'd love to find a tobacco flavor somewhat similar to American Spirits or Djarum Blacks, which are what I primarily smoked over the years.

Anyway, I've been enjoying lurking here and it was time to join - this place is definitely a treasure trove of information!

If you don't mind something that looks like the size of a sharpie pen, go with an eGo or Riva kit.

Good to know - I think one of the things I've had the hardest time figuring out with purchasing has been the relative sizes of e-cigs, so that really helps!

Welcome to ECF!! yep, a ton of information here to take in!! Congrats on your first 2 weeks!

Thanks! I've been reading for a couple hours now, haha - so very much to learn, and I'm super glad this place exists!

Welcome to the Forum... Congrats on two weeks! It only gets better and better!

Thank you! I hope it keeps getting better - I won't pretend that this has been totally easy for me - but it's the best start I've had yet and I certainly feel much better about quitting this way than I did on any other attempts!

Congratulations! Yay Minnesota!

I have a Riva 510 from Liberty-Flights.com (the Sharpie size), it is my first PV and I like it a lot. I am going to order 2 Joye 510 manual batteries and a charger so I have something that looks more like a cigarette when I'm out. I'm using standard Boge cartomizers most of the time, so they are interchangeable on either.

The size really isn't a problem, and the battery life on the Riva 510 is excellent, but I get a lot of double-take looks, so plan to use the skinny batteries when I don't want to deal with that.

This is exactly the kind of info I'm looking for, so thanks! :)

I'm also unsure about the double-take looks - I am very shy IRL, and so it has been a little rough to deal with all the questions I get when I go out with my e-cig, haha...but I'm trying to be a good ambassador all the same. :)

My son said they are catching on like crazy in Dinkytown - mostly because the bars sell disposables, so hopefully soon people will start ignoring us. I think you would like the Riva. I'm probably going to be disappointed with the smaller batteries, but I won't have to use them very often. Getting used to manual batteries is no big deal at all, so don't let that hold you back.

y'all are wimps. Winters in MN rock! :) Actually, I much prefer a 30 degree day, to a 100 degree day myself.

Brew

Even on May 1st with snow? I can handle the seasons, I just want them to change when they're supposed to :)

I can only +1 on the suggestion for the Riva 501...i got mine with some boge caromizers and I'm loving it. It's been over 2 weeks without an analog cig now...and I haven't even had a craving for one. Also look for a sample pack of ejuice so you can try a few flavors, you'll be surprised how quick you get tired of tobacco flavor once you get your taste buds back

There really are a lot of us just starting out around the same time. I haven't had an analog in about a week, and I agree with the menthol comment. I HATED menthols when I was smoking, now I vape menthol more than regular flavor. Granted the brand that I'm using currently is a bit crummy(ordered a V4L kit today since they're similar to an analog's size, great flavor selection, 2 piece design[cartomizer+battery], and awesome prices).
