Even though I’ve been trolling around this forum for two months (I feel I can get a ph.d on ecig theory) I’m only introducing myself now, cause well, that’s how long it took for me to get hold of my first e-cigs! Yup, living in a developing country definitely has its disadvantages, one of which is trying to get hold of e-cigarettes from abroad. I have relatives in the states who I had order for me a couple of sets, only to found out three weeks later, and just days before they were to come down, that my stuff had been “back ordered”. So I went the eastern route, and ordered from Eastmall. The fact that I was sending money to a total stranger didn’t bother me that much because it was clear that a lot of people here vouched for David. Sometimes I still can’t get over the whole online community-information sharing-thingy. Its amazing!

Anyway, the order took almost a month to arrive, but once I had the e-cigs in my hands I really didn’t care! I ordered an m401 and a dse901. I didn’t get the extra atomizer I ordered for the 901, and if you guys are interested will update you on that. We’ve had them for two days and here are our first impressions as ecig newbies….

(Disclaimer…Never really having had any previous ventures in the business world, I learned a lot about the importance of transparency from the forum. So, yes, I do plan on becoming a supplier in Egypt, and yes, I’m completely in love with the 901.)

The generic m401 box looks a whole lot nicer than the generic 901 box…but both of these things are a lot smaller than I thought they would be. My bro and I couldn’t wait for the whole 8 hour charging time to try them, so we gave them a go right out of the box. My 901, fondly referred to as the Old Suede from now on, worked like a champ right away. But the positioning of the one hole on the 901 atomizer is really inconvenient for those wanting to hold it like a cigarette. Because of this, my bro and I found ourselves naturally holding it like a waterpipe handle. My brother’s m401 was having issues but we figured it was the battery not having been charged yet. I also understand now what people meant about the nasty primer, and in the m401 it tasted a lot worse. Immediately we found the menthol flavor to be the most palatable, while the combination of RY4 and primer made us feel nauseous.

After two days, the m401 seems to be picking up its vapor performance a little, but still nowhere near what I’ve seen on some video reviews like those of Igetcha and Leaford. The LED isn’t lighting brightly, and you have to inhale pretty hard or else it won’t even light up at all. This leads me to believe it might have something to do with the connection between the threads like many have mentioned on the forum. It does however feel amazing in your hand, but my bro does feel a little cheated since I promised him it was going to be all black without the gold swirls. I could have sworn that was what was being displayed on the eastmall website…oh well, getting old I guess.

The RY4 is starting to grow on me a little, but my bro, like many, is a first impressions kinda a guy and refuses to try it again. I couldn’t tell you about the other flavors we got, because they were 18mg, and I quit smoking already, and don’t really want to get into nicotine again. I thought 18mg was supposed to be on the medium scale, considering that liquids go up to 36mg. But even my two pack a day bro, mentioned getting a nicotine hit slightly more than from his cigarettes. I guess that could be due to not being able to judge on when to put the e-cig down. Which reminds me, are the filled m401 cartridges labeled for nicotine strength, because we couldn’t find them?

I think that many beginners and experienced users have reviewed these two models enough. For us, with respect to the throat hit, our conclusion was that we actually preferred no throat hit at all. Does anybody feel the same about that? Also, the main thing for us was just seeing the amount of vapor production, and an easy drag.

As I mentioned already, probably after two weeks of surfing the forums I realized that I might want to get into selling e-cigs here. Obviously, since my guess is no one here lives in Africa, let alone, Egypt, I don’t think you guys would care. And as you guys can tell from my number of posts, socializing online isn’t really one of my strongest suits. But, I have really enjoyed being part of the forum and I guess I’ll contact SJ about registering as a supplier.

Welcome! :)

No, you're not the only ones who don't care about the throat hit. Flavor is more important to me than the throat hit.

Funny thing about e-cigs. So many of the things I thought would be important to me before I started (replicating the experience of smoking as closely as possible) don't matter to me at all now.

Shishas, or waterpipes, are extremely popular here. And people's first reaction is that the vapor feels very similar to a Shisha, which is supposed to have as smooth of a drag as possible. The other interesting thing was that the after effects of vaping, like the feeling in the back of your throat and in your chest the next day, feel very similar to a shisha's.

But yes, I definitly thing the throat hit preference for a smoother drag could be on a cultural scale here.

Shihab,

My mum visits Morocco a lot and we were just discussing today how alike vaping and waterpipes are in many ways.

Both mum and I have found ourselves vaping like smoking a waterpipe - I found I started doing it naturally with my 901 for the exact same reason as you, because the hole was positioned awkwardly when holding it. Now, I love holding my 901 more vertically down from my mouth rather than horizontally out (if that makes sense).

My 901 also gurgles like a water pipe, which I love! :D

Klimpt, that's exactly what I'm talking about! I do that automatically now that my friends who have seen me vape on it so far, think you're supposed to hold it that way so that the liquid can move downwards or something.

But the mother of all comparisons here are those penstyles with the USB passthru's...If they every plan on making a movie with a futuristic scene in a shihsa cafe, thats what they should use!

Harmony, not sure if the actual e-cig or vapor would show up, if I took a picture on top of a camel with the pyramids in the background. But it would be cool, if we had a section, where people took pictures with their e-cigs in different locations. I remember a flight attendant taking some on a plane.

JustPuffin, thanks and I really hope it does go well!
