Newbie question on tanks

I've been vaping for about 4 months with an ego-cc. A month or so ago, I also got a SMOKtech VV-VW battery and an eLeaf BCC Mega tank. Both of these setups have been serving me relatively well, but lately I seem to be burning through cartos and atty's more quickly than before (with roughly the same usage as before). I don't particularly want to get a new battery as well though.

Doing some research, I'm thinking I may want to invest in either an Aspire nautilus, or an Innoken iClear16. I was hoping to get some input on either of these or any other suggestions any of you may have. I've sure you guys have a lot more experience in this than I do.

Personally i have not used any of those but have read lots of good posts here about the nautilus... Good luck on your quest of finding a good tank.. Even if you cant post there yet you might want to go check out the clearomizer and tank sections of the forum... Maybe you can find answer from already excisting posts.

I've never gone through cartos or attys in the past two years. The only atty I rendered useless was one I took apart (before rebuildables). Don't vape until your juice runs completely out and your atty wont have to dry burn until it pops. I suggest plain PG or thin ejuice between switching flavors or simply add in the new flavor when your current gets very low. Might be slight off flavor mix but no atty issues. Or use different carto for each flavor.

Honestly, the reason I haven't delved too deeply into those sections for my own advice is because I wanted people to keep in mind that I'm not particularly experienced with mods and such. I'm not looking for something that necessarily requires rebuilding coils, or having to test wires, etc (though I want something that I'd be able to replace the wicks instead of constantly buying whole new cartos/atty's).

I dont tinker at all myself (at least not yet) my first tank was protank3 from kanger.. Most people like nautilus much better. Venturing into carto tanks now so have not tried the other clearomizers out there

My ego-cc uses ego type-a atty's, and my bcc tank I've been using 1.8 ohm carto's, and I've tried cleaning both kinds a few times but they still end up tasting terrible because the wick burns. I don't think I've let my juice empty entirely more than once (that was in my first week or so and I learned my lesson), and I often stick with the same flavor for a few days at a time if not more. The juices I have are 70/30 if I recall so I don't think that should be gunking up my wicks/coils too much.

Haven't used the Nautilus, but have a lot of experience with the iClear 16s. I'd classify them as steady, workhorse clearos... the flavor and draw aren't the best, but not bad. I have found them to be very reliable, easy to fill and easy to clean; have had no problems (burns, leaks, dry hits, etc) with them at all, even though I sometimes run them almost dry. For what they cost, I don't think you'll regret buying a couple, but they probably won't deliver as much taste as some better units.

I was happy w/the iclear16s until I started to rebuild, never tried the nautilus...I think it's supposed to be "better" (but that's subjective), but it's also more expensive. It's a bottom coil, versus iclear is top coil - have to make sure it stays wicked.

If no ones snagged it yet, you can score a free iclear16 plus replacement heads by joining CASAA...if you're not already a member.

Go for the GLASS tank: the Nautilus.
The iclears are plastic.

I will say I'm a fan of the protank II or III with the aerobase or an aerotank. They are bottom wicking tanks with glass instead of plastic (I've been told some citrus-y juices will melt/ruin the plastic ones) and with the aerobase (or aerotank) have adjustable airflow like the nautilus. The nautilus has better airflow stock, but you can drill out the holes to 1/16 on the aerobase/tank and get great airflow as well. From everyone I have talked to, the nautilus heads are much more difficult to rebuild if you decide to go that route, and if you don't want to rebuild your atty heads the protank ones are a bit cheaper (5 protank atty heads for ~$9 vs. $15 or so for the nautilus).
A buddy of mine just gave away his nautilus because he was burning through coils left and right using a basic ego-c twist battery and said it wasn't worth the effort to rebuild them (debatable depending on if you know what you're doing or not/enjoy it or hate it) and has since been using an original protank I gave him just rebuilding the coils as needed.
Really it comes down to preference but I have been using my protank II and mini protank II for quite a while with good success and I vaped them pretty heavily without having to change the stock coils too often, but now that I know how to rebuild them it's a breeze and functions even better than with the stock atty heads. Just my two cents on the subject.

You're correct....some of mine were cleaned/reused for several months and still sit in a box in case I ever need them. Had problems w/two juices....one dissolved my drip tip, one clouded up the plastic tank, both were listed on the seller's websites as possibly having problems w/plastic....but I don't follow directions well

I know this makes me seem as unknowledgable as I actually am, but when you say "rebuilding" the heads, do you mean replacing the wick after cleaning?

A glass tank is safe.

With a plastic tank, ... you don't know what kind of plastic it is or what reacts how with the plastic or what chemicals from the plastic leech into your liquid.

When the typical tank was a disposable, it made sense to make them out of cheap plastic, because they were going to get trashed anyway. But if you intend to be vaping for the long haul, now that the tanks come with replaceable heads, might as well get a proper glass tank that can be cleaned properly.

You are right on as far as glass vs plastic. When I used the set up you are describing I used a Kanger Mini II. It's a glass sleeve but the main reason I liked it was it able to be completely disassembled and washed making it easy to switch flavors. The atomizer's I would soak overnight in cheap vodka and as long I didn't burn them dry could get lots of life from them.
It's still my "emergency" set up.
