Hi there,

I'm an absolute newbie and am awaiting my 402 in the mail (first post!!). I've seen some posts regarding dipping rather than dripping and this sounds really interesting, as one of the things I was not looking forward to is having to deal with re-filling cartridges all the time etc.

I read that for some, they are getting up to 20 puffs when dipping the atomizer. My question is, do you that dipping once would work for two vaping sessions?? I.E. Take 5-7 puffs, put it down for a couple hours and puff the remaining 5-7 puffs (or whatevers left). Or would the atomizer dry out by then? It would be pretty sweet if one "dip" could be used for two "vapes" (kinda like two smokes before you need to dip again).

If anyone has experience with this - please let me know. I am so thankful I found this site - everyone has awesome info/experiences to share and I'm super excited at the possibility of quitting analogs!!

Also, do you think dipping would ruin the atomizer??

Cheers!!

Welcome whozshort. You can vape more than once on one dip. It just depends on home many times you draw on it each time and how long you leave it sit between vapes. Too long and it will probably dry out. I often dip, take a few puffs, put it in my pocket and then take a few more a while later. Dipping isn't hard on the atomizer unless you run it totally dry.

Awesome - thanks for the info. Can't wait to get my PV, I'm starting with some cartidges to figure out what flavor I like, then on to the ejuice!

Welcome Whozshort! I have an M402 and I dip. From what I've read, and from my experience, DIpping (as opposed to DRipping) should not ruin the atty on a 402 because the coil (the part you will dip into the juice) sits up high and exposed and is easy to dip. You'll understand it better once you've got it in your hand and see it.

I've been told it is safer to dip the atty than drip onto it. When you dip the atty, the coil soaks up the juice instead of dripping the juice onto the atty where it could possibly run down and ruin your battery or flood your atty.

I use an old contact lens case, but you can use a shot glass or a soda bottle cap, milk jug cap, etc. You don't need much. Just enough to cover the exposed coil (looks like a fat braid) of the atty.

I would worry about it drying out if you set it aside for too long, but in my experience one dip is fairly equivalent to one cigarette so thats how I use it. If I am out on the town I will dip, smoke that and set it a side until the urge hits again. If I am stepping out with smoking friends it seems to work out that I am starting to lose vapor about when they are done anyway. I second the contact case. It is the perfect traveler since you can screw on the caps and toss it in your pocket and have two flavors with you.

Well...I have to be honest and say that at first, I wasn't very pleased with it, but I like it better now. ;)

There is a definite "learning curve" with all of these PVs and the 402 is no exception. I think part of the problems I was having were due to the attys needing to break in or "warm up," and part of the problems were due to my inexperience and not having any liquid at first to top off dry carts, etc. There is also a certain way to draw on it and I think I was trying to "smoke" it like a regular cigarette, but you don't do it quite the same way. Long slow even draws work best for not getting a mouthful of liquid.

I don't know if all 402s are created equal or where you got yours from, but my attys came with the most foul tasting primer you could ever imagine. It was almost enough to make me change my mind about switching from analogs...actually made me sick in my stomach for a while. But, once I got past that, and got some different juice samples to try, and once my attys started to work properly, things got a lot better.

I did just order a 510 mainly because I want more vapor than my 402 produces. The amount of vapor you get may be just fine for you or may even be more than you were expecting, but I like A LOT of vapor. :p Some of my smoking friends who have tried it thought it gave a great throat hit and enough vapor for them, so I think it's just me.

I most definitely DO NOT get 20 puffs from dipping the atty...nowhere near that. Maybe 5 tops. I must take extra large puffs! LOL! But you kinda get a better throat hit with dipping than with just a cart.

Even so, I wouldn't give up my 402. It's a perfect replacement for an analog in terms of size and shape and look and feel. The carts are easy to refill, the attys are easy to dip, and two batteries last me all day and recharge quickly. I'll probably continue to use the 402 when I'm out and about and will use the 510 at home, depending how large this 510 is!

Good luck! I hope you like it! :D

I've tried a couple of different models and I've gotten rid of all of them except my M Series. I use the 402 batteries when I'm out and the 401 batteries at home (lasts about 1/3 longer). I think you'll be very happy with your choice. Give yourself a couple of days to get used to the differences in smoking/vaping. Almost immediately, I felt like I had found what "smoking" was supposed to feel like all along.

As for dipping...
I easily get at least 20 puffs. It's not like dripping (only got about 5 or 6 puffs) where you have to worry about flooding the atomizer so don't just dunk it in and start puffing. Let the atomizer soak up the liquid for 15-30 seconds and you'll be set.

Thanks to all of you for your input! These forums are great. I am in Canada and ordered my product from electronic-cigz.com. Black with green LED. I just ordered a couple of 5 packs of prefilled cartridges for now, gotta figure out what flavor I like and whether I can get by on a 0 NIC solution before getting a bottle.

Ideally, I'm looking to quit nic entirely but we'll see how that goes (throat hit is important to me!!) LOL

Thanks again

Just wanted to add that you definitely should order some juice samples NOW.

I did the same thing you did...I ordered my 402 and ordered some extra prefilled carts thinking I would get extra juice later. Well, my 402 arrived, I hated the taste of the prefilled carts, and a week later I was still waiting on the juice samples I had ordered. Once I got my juice, I liked my PV so much better. :thumb:

I didn't order mine from the same supplier as you, but I'd bet most prefilled carts have the same problem and that is that they dry out pretty quickly. Or at least, seem to dry out. It's hard to actually vape all the liquid out of a cart...the stuffing always seems to still be somewhat moist...but your vapor production and throat hit fall off dramatically about halfway through the cart. That's why it's nice to have extra liquid to top off or refill your carts with so you can really assess how well your PV is working and how well you like it.

I got samples (small inexpensive bottles) from Johnson Creek and Nuvape. I'm sure there are other places that sell small samples or you might even check the classified section of the forum. It's well worth buying small samples before ordering large bottles of something you might end up hating. Of the 20+ samples I ordered, I only ended up liking 3 or 4.

Good call Speedikeys - I will do that. What mg level of nic do you vape? I think my supplier only has low nic and no nic currently. I think Health Canada is actually restricting the sale of nicotine but allowing suppliers to sell no nicotine...at least for now. This was the only supplier I found in Canada still selling nic - and it wouldn't surprise me if his next order for restock is held up by HC.

I'm kind of hoping I can make do with no nic as it looks like thats what the future may hold for me up here lol :(

I vape low or medium, depending on what I'm doing/when I'm vaping. If I take a "smoke" break, I use medium to get my nicotine fix. If I'm mindlessly sucking on the thing, I use low, mainly because I've found that I don't know when to stop and I just chain puff for longer periods of time than I would on an analog. If I do that with the medium nic, I get a headache so I use low for those times. And, I'm still smoking analogs in between so I'm not a good person to answer that question.

To me one of the strange things with the PVs is knowing when you're "done." With an analog, you're done when you reach the filter. When are you "done" with a PV?

My plan is to get to 0 nic eventually, too, but I tried that in the beginning and it wasn't working for me. I was a 1 to 1 1/2 pack per day smoker when I started.

That's a bummer about no nicotine sales in Canada. Can you order from outside the country?

Hi
Just getting started at this. Does any one know where to get propylene glycol? Does it need to be a certain grade?
I got this recept from this site but don't plan on using nicotine, anyone know what I should replace as a filler. Or should I use more glycering or glycol? Should I use an extract as flavoring?
10% distilled water
30% glycerin
30% propylene glycol
10-20% flavoring

So after posting, I found a couple more sites in Canada with nic. I could probably order from outside the country for future but don't want to deal with the hassles from customs etc. lol. I could totally see how you could vape away and not even know it - especially when I first get it I know I'm going to puff away like mad! Gotta try and use some self control lol.

I smoke anywhere from 10-15 smokes a day - way less on weekends (maybe 4-5 in the day) cuz my GF can't stand analogs. I've had troubles even switching brands of smokes in the past so we'll see how the ECig brand will treat me (I'm a B+H guy). I'm starting off with 11 Mg but I have a feeling I'm gonna wanna up that, hopefully not...

Best of luck moving to no nic!
