i have a few questions....when do you know when your cart is all used up. can you interchange batteries with different carts, for instance i have a v4l battery, can i use another company's carts. and different tips and tricks in useing these. i just got mine in the mail yesterday, i absolutely love it...just wanna make sure i'm not gonna damage it. thanks

There's a bit of a learning curve when it comes to the cartos. I toasted several of them in my first order because I didn't know the pre-filled ones aren't necessarily full when you get them. When you pop the cap off the batting in a full carto will look wet. When a carto is starting to get low the vapor production supposedly drops off (I haven't noticed that symptom until it's too late, I think it's an experience thing) and the taste will get weak/strange. If you keep going the taste will get nasty. If you get to the nasty that carto may not ever recover, I have several now that I essentially ruined by trying to use them too long. Refilling them makes them vape, but the burnt taste is still lingering.
V4L only sells KR808D-1 units. You can use their batteries with cartomizers from a lot of different places so long as they're designed for the 808D-1. Many places will put their own branding/name on them, but they generally tell you someplace what specific model the parts are for.
I'm not sure what kind of tricks you're looking for. I suggest checking out the V4L vendor's forum, you'll find all kinds of random tidbits in there that may be useful.

thanks for the info...i noticed that burnt taste, but still had pretty good vapor from it so i wasn't sure about it. i guess its all just trial and error with it too. i'll have to check that forum out you were talking about. i've been looking at the e-cigs for a few months now, but finally decided to get one when someone close to me passed away cuz of smoking. it was a pretty big eye opener for me. any flavors that yall recommend trying? they sent me a few different flavors like french vanilla ice cream and expresso, oh and cognac...but they all kinda taste the same to me, and honestly not real fond of them. i prefer the menthol myself, but def wouldn't mind trying some of the others that are out there.
Yeah, that burnt nasty taste probably means the cart is past the point of needing more juice. I've proven to myself that those carts will definitely put out a significant amount of vapor even when they're dry enough to start roasting their guts.
My favorite V4L flavors so far are definitely the 555 and the Smilin Menthol. I've heard a lot of good things about their fruit flavors, especially the Watermelon, but I haven't tried any yet. Keep in mind that, with juice and empty cartos, you can mix more/additional menthol into any flavor you want. There's no reason to limit yourself to flavors that already have menthol mixed in.
If you want to experiment outside the realm of V4L juice I can recommend Tasty Vapor. I've sampled six of his flavors and the "worst" of them is still quite good. I'm not a big fan of German Chocolate Cake in the first place, so it's no shock that I'm not bowled over by the juice version of it. I'd rather vape the TV juice flavor than eat the real thing, though. It's nice, just not my first choice. The Almond Horn is amazing, Atomic Cinnicide is great, Tastyfinger makes me want to chew on the vapor, and the Bananas Foster is surprisingly attractive even though I'm not big on banana flavorings in general. I've also tasted a custom blend of pineapple and peppermint I like a lot, but my tastebuds are still screwed up from smoking and I can't make out the pineapple.

The peppermint is pretty overpowering, even for me still, Grib.
As far as the cartos go--seems like your question is answered, shepp. You will get much better at telling when it's time to refill. I killed quite a few cartos my first couple weeks, le sigh, but I haven't killed one in months now.

lol, yeah i think i killed my first one just playing with it all day...i only got the 18mg, and haven't gotten that sick feeling, but i def smoked the hell out of it. also got a dud in one of my packs, and one that was so filled it was squirting in my mouth, tasted like i had two pine trees duking it out on my tongue, it was pretty bad, lol. good to see another virginian in here. not many people around here are using them which is odd considering how we have the smoking ban in effect here. i'm gonna have to try those flavors gribeau, i'm not big on fruity, but i keep hearing people say to try them. since i got the dud, i'm gonna use that one to play around with a few of the juices. hell i'm still amazed at how much i like em. i tried a smoke51 style a guy had at the bar a few months back and it was absolutely nasty and started to not think i'd try em, but a friend of mine told me about V4L and the price was just so much cheaper, figured eh, its $40, if it works, thats less than a carton of cigs here. hell cigs are running almost 50 here a carton now. what part of va are ya in belletrist?
Once you've tried all of them, there are about a zillion other places with different juice to buy from.
