Hey everyone! Just started vaping and I'm looking at getting into rebuilding. Just wondering from all the experienced vapers here where a good place to start is? I've got an E leaf Ijust 2 and recently signed up for vape-box. My first box came with a zephyrus rta and some replacement coils just for some reference as to what I already have. The zephyrus comes with a small dual coil build deck. Looking for recommended threads to read, hardware, and rebuilding materials. Thank you in advance! P.S. I'd like to stick with subohm builds.

Make sure you purchase an ohm reader.

Below are several links to @Baditude blogs.

I like

Silverplay Nano
Goblin mini
Kayfun Monster Mini V3
Orchid V3
Kayfun lite plus

In that order.

Start high, then build up your confidence, then start going lower. Know your batteries, know their limits, learn ohms law, set a link in your browser, download an app for your smart phone, but know and use it.
Always build in a safety, I suggest around 20%, others go to 50%, of your batteries limit. If the battery is good for 20 amps, don't build for more than 17 amps.
Being you are using a regulated mod that affords you some safety, but it's not the end all beat all, you still have to use your brain.
Get an ohm meter or digital volt ohm meter, learn how to use it, and do use it!
I got a set of the coil master V3 coil making jigs after all these years, man I love it! Wish I'd had one years ago, would have saved me so much frustration! They can be bought for $8-12 depending on where you get them. Watch the videos, man it's simple!
There's steam engine that will help you with coil builds, there are smart phone apps, or you can just wing it like I do! Wrap what you think you want, then test it with a meter, add and subtract wraps as needed from there! (I've never had much luck with the apps being right!)
It's not rocket surgery, just takes some common sense and knowledge to do it right, and safely.

The easiest go build on has to be

SXK Nebula Wine.

Single coil and trapping the leads is stupid simple.

Unscrew the screws till the wire can get under the scrrw heads. Then there is a wall on both sides of the screw head the wire will not pop out unless you are using 35-40 gauge wire.

The flavor is good. The vapor production is as good as the Kayfun Monster Mini V3.

I had high hopes that would be my go to vape but i have a ruptured eardrum and couldn't stand the whistle of the Atty.

In my review i said Kayfun Monster Mini V3 snd the Subtank Mini RBA got together snd the SXK NEBULA WINE was the result.

What do you think about the coil master kit with the ohm meter, the v3, and the tools? I'm willing to spend the 40/50 bucks.

The coil winder is awesome, the tools seem decent, but the ohm meter in that kit is the same as the $9 cheapie you can buy anywhere. I've seen in a lot of reviews the ohm meter had died before they could even get to doing a full review of the kit! Everyone raved about the rest of the kit for the money, and weren't to disappointed with it dying as they had better meters anyways.
Now if they ever come out with a kit like that that has the 521 tab in it, that Susan linked to, jump on it! That's on my short list of things to get! I really want the 521 tab, it's accurate, versatile and handy!
But for now, the Coil Master 521 Tab and Geekvape 521 tab are pretty much as good as it gets for accuracy and functionality. Like I say, I really want one to make it easier to build with, test and pulse coils and I can put my Mac meter back in the garage where I can find it!

Its Om but you don't need 70% of the gear in there.

All you really need ouf of there is.

Ohm meter
Ceramic tweezers.

I USS RTAs, and about tge biggest coil you can install in RTAs is 2.5 mm. The little blue screwdriver is 2 mm. That is where i wrap mg coils.

Ebay has several coil jigs that are actually better than tge Coil Master set of jigs.

You have needle nose plyers in a drawer..

I use fingernail clippers to cut my 26, 27, and 28 gauge side. Works great. If you don't have a pair pick a pair up at tge Dollar store.

Yes it comes with a small box for O rings screws, coils you make.

A pocket sized tackle box works just as well AND gives you more compartments

I say go ob eBay get an ohm meter, ceramic tweezers and a $5 coil jig with 5 rods, then scrounge drawers for fingernail clippers, needle nose pliers and small screwdrivers.

The screws driver set in that kit SUCKS.

COIL master sent me that kit to review on Amazon.

The ONLY THING I KEPT WAS TGE CERAMIC TWEEZERS.

The OHM METER WAS GIVEN TO Jon.

Several parts was given to Jim G.

The WORTHLESS screwdriver was put in file 13 (trash can)

The problem with coil jig is IT pancakes 28 and thinner gauge wire.

@KDubbs the coil master kit is a good start as it has all the tools you need, till you start getting into crazier coil builds then you will likely end up with a tool box and power tools lol, i have the v2 keep it in my truck for just incase situations lol, i also use steam engine, great app, Happy vaping!

I've wrapped 32ga with it, it's a matter of learning not to push on it after you make the first wrap. I know exactly what you are talking about as I've done it! There is a bit of a learning curve, but once you get it, it's pretty slick!
As I understand the first set was cheesy, but the new V3 set has better tools. I don't know, I don't have the tool kit, just going off of reviews. I looked into the kit, but then concluded I had better tools already.
I bought a pocket style screwdriver from here, Commando Products, Inc. and can store the extra bits in the body.
I picked up a pair of scissors, fingernail clippers and flat tweezers at Walgreen's.
I just ordered a set of ceramic tweezers off of Evilbay for under $2, shipped for free, after frying a coil jumping the gun with my standard pair.
So yes, there are better tools out there, but there are days I wish I had a small pair of wire nippers like in the kit!

I was going to mention the cheap ceramic tweezers but forgot.

Near tool there. Ceramic tweezers on one end and an Atty wrench on the other for when tge tsnky sticks on the mod.

My first build ever was on my Zephyrus V2 RBA. Its not the easiest deck but its far from being hard.

My suggestion is to just go at it. Watch some youtube videos on how to coil your wire, use steam engine to determine whats needed in terms of wire diameter (gauge), inner diameter (how wide your coils are), and how many wraps to achieve the resistance you're looking for.

In terms of whats needed. If you're on a budget...
1. wires - I would suggest 26 gauge for versatility, 24 gauge if you prefer thicker wire for the Zeph's RBA

2. organic cotton - koh gen doh or cotton bacon works good for me

3. screw driver or a screw bit - find one thats 2 or 2.5 or 3mm in diameter (2.5mm is prob the max on the zeph)

4. nail clippers

5. scissors

6. plier

If you're not on a budget get a coil master diy v2 kit. Its got EVERYTHING you need to build your own coils and i think its around 30-45 bucks. The kit even includes 24gauge kanthal (10ft) and some organic cotton.

My first build was on a Aga T2, my first successful build was on an Octopus RDA!

I think most of us will always remember our first builds.

I still remember it took me 2 tries to coil the wire right. 2 tries to top fill the tank right b/c for some reason I didn't screw in the RBA section securely which resulted in flood city. And then there was that first vape with your own coils/wick. Priceless.
