I have no frame of reference, since this is my very first vaping experience. I also have some stuff from Vapemasters, AtmosUSA and a sampler of Wyatt Earp I haven't tried yet. I have orders from Backwoods and Vapor Station on the way.
However, as someone who rolled out of bed and smoked an analog first thing this morning, I think my perspective is valid, despite the lack of experience. Using a 3.7v Copper with std 510 atty and cartridge. I let these bottles sit in my cupboard for one week prior to using them. Here goes:
Vapor Renu 555 medium TH, 16mg, 80/20
Wow. My wife and I were floored by this, our first vaping experience. Everything you want is there; the warmth as you draw, the throat hit, the feeling of fullness in your lungs, the plumes of smoke/vapor, the presence of nicotine. We both immediately knew that this would replace tobacco for us, without a doubt.
Now the juice itself is hit and miss. People accuse Vapor Renu juices of having zero throat hit. Now I'm a newbie, but I have a pack of Pall Mall lights on the front porch. This stuff has throat hit. All I would need. If I take a short, cigarette-like draw, I get the sensation of smoking a Merit (8 mg) cigarette. If I take a longer, slower e-cig-like draw, I get warmth, plumes of vapor, and a throat hit that is like a full flavor cigarette. Plenty, and it makes me wonder if I should make all future orders 12 mg. My initial batches are all coming in at 16-18 mg, and 12 mg might do it for me.
The flavor is good but not great. The tobacco is cigar-y, with chocolate undertones. That's all I get. Now I don't mind a cigar now and again, and the flavor is not offensive by any means, but this particular flavor is not what I would want to draw on all day long. I will use it, but I won't re-order when it's gone.
On a scale of 10-
TH- 6 (just adequate)
Flavor- 5 (not bad, but not exciting)
Vapor- 8 (more than adequate, more than an analog)
Price- 10 ($6/30ml? Awesome price)
Overall- 6 (the flavor drags this score down)
I know it looks like the overall score should be higher, but I have to weigh the individual elements differently since they contribute to the overall experience differently. This is not a bad vape, and if the idea of cigar-y chocolate appeals to you, you may find this to be an 8 for yourself. For me, 6.
Vapor Renu Black Licorice double shot, medium TH, 16mg, 80/20
Pleasant black licorice flavor coupled with very little vapor and no throat hit. It will get used, but I'll be trying someone else's licorice once this bottle is gone.
TH- 0
Flavor- 8 (you want licorice, this is licorice)
Vapor- 3 (very, very little)
Price- 10
Overall- 3 (despite the good flavor and low price there is little to recommend this juice)
Vapor Renu offers a fantastic price. I have no doubt that they have something I would really like, it would just be finding it. If I found a flavor from them that I liked as much as their Black Licorice that produced TH and vapor like their 555, I would be a regular customer. That price is just too good a deal. As it stands, my impression is that ordering from them is a lot like playing Russian roulette. You'll probably have to try a lot of their flavors before you find a truly satisfying vape. Ultimately, it's probably going to be cheaper for you to just order from one of the more respected flavor creators instead of playing hit and miss with Vapor Renu.
*note: I lowered the 555 TH score because it needed to be lowered. I think my initial impressions were higher because I probably still had a little primer in the atty!
