Hi.
I have been smoking one pack of Marlboro Menthol Lights for the past 34 years and I feel horrible. I'm constantly wheezing, my sinuses are permanently full and I get out of breath when I try to do anything with my 3 year old daughter. I thought it was about time that I did something about it.

My Volt Pro Starter kit should arrive in the mail today. I'm getting a 65mm battery and a 78mm battery, not that I know what that means. My cartridges are Menthol Burst - Medium (12mg?).

I hoping to be tobacco free in the shortest amount of time.

Any suggestions, tips and pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Ahoy there, and Welcome to the best ecig forum on the internet!

Great call on making one of the most important decisions of your life. I smoked a pack and a half a day for almost 7 years (Marlboros) and it was quite a switch. I can only imagine how eager you must be to kick the habit finally.

My only tip would be to stick with it. Its very tough to get the exact same flavour/satisfaction feeling, but try to embrace the 'different' nature of vaping. 12mg sounds a bit low for a long term smoker, especially marlboros. I'm not trying to 'up' your nicotine, because that can be dangerous, just don't be discouraged if you find yourself craving or not being satisfied right away. I started at 24mg, went to 18, and I am more than happy with 12 right now.

If you want some killer tobacco flavours, check out BWD, I think they're relatively close to Western PA. They have some killer tobacco flavours, which is what I find satisfies my cigarette urges the best.

Never be hesitant to ask around, this place is a goldmine of resources.

Best of luck, and Vape Groovily my friend.

Welcome! Yeah, it might be a good idea to go to 18mg, just until you wean yourself off the cigs. It can be difficult to find a tasty juice- as soon as you find one, order 20 or 30 ml. That's about a weeks worth, and it takes awhile for delivery.

That's a great starter kit, but make sure you keep one on the charger, they don't last too long. If you look around on these forums, there is a forum for Pa Vapers- I believe you can find a store out your way.

Gl, and don't sweat it- it's easy to quit smoking using these.

Good luck, scurry. My wife and I started yesterday - 30 year Madboro man too. Theres a small learning curve, but I'm already seeing a difference in my voice and lungs after only 24 hours. I am using a "tobacco" flavor, but it doesn't taste like cigarettes used to. I actually went back & smoked one just to try to identify the flavor I was looking for. Funny, I couldn't really identify a flavor, just the feel of the smoke. Menthol is probably a little different, but there's lots of mint flavors so I'm sure you'll find one you like. There's information overload available on this forum plenty of opinions and very few bashful folks.

I smoked VS light Menthol for 40. Cigarette free (aka analog) since January. I tried menthol in the beginning. Then bakery goods and coffee, now ice cream and fruits. My taste buds have changed, I guess. Very confusing at times, just keep reading. When you find the flavor you like, your smoke free. I would suggest getting one more of the larger batteries, making sure you always have one to go.
My ex smoked Marlboro Reds and only likes menthol. Go figure. Good Luck, enjoy your journey!

Welcome to the world of Vaping!

Best advise, Stick with it. You are starting out on a much better E-cig than I did nearly a year ago...they have come a long way.

You will probably find over a short period of time you getting tired of constantly charging batteries and will make you frustrated. at that point you may find you don't care about if it looks exactly like a cigarette but you want more vape time between charges. At that point I suggest looking into an EGO type of device.

You are taking a journey that you will find is MORE satisfying than smoking.

    Good luck!

PS you WILL start feeling better. I did.

Hi scurry, welcome! i am also new to the vape world. i was smoking a pack a day for about 7/12 years, and recently quit for the first time about 3 weeks ago, give or take. the only advice i can give you, is pretty much all the advise ive been getting from everyone, is to just stick with it, dont give up and dont be discouraged if you slip up and have an analog every ounce in a while. :] it takes time. i am a day and half analog free today lol but i was a week clean prior to that. But i know eventually i'll be 100% analog free with no cravings (i hope) lol so stick with it and good luck! i know we can do it! :]

Welcome to the vaping world. Since I'm relatively new here too, I don't have any great advice. But you are definitely in the right place. I've never seen such a nice group of people on any other forum. I am continually amazed at how the veterans here patiently answer questions -- never seeming to forget what it means to be new to a forum.

I can say that I, too, smoked menthol before picking up vaping. I ordered several menthol e-liquids and found I couldn't stand any of them. It took a few weeks for me to discover that my favorite vaping flavors are fruits and desserts. You'll find what works for you soon. Just keep trying until you do! :)

    Welcome!

First, let me say thank you for all the encouragement and suggestions. It was heartwarming that so many people took the time to welcome me, encourage me and offer advice.

My Volt Pro Starter Kit arrive yesterday. It was very easy to use the charger. I wish I had ordered a wall charger, or an adapter for my pcc (personal charging case) that allows me to charge when I'm not near a computer. I put that on my list of things I need to buy.

After 12 hours I've made the following observations and have the some questions:

    (1) I vape a lot.
    (2) I wish I had ordered 18, or 24 mg cartridges. I would probably vape less if I was getting more nicotine per hit.
    (3) I don't know when I need to change the cartridge. I supposed it will be obvious to me, but at this point I am clueless.
    (4) I don't know when I need to charge the battery. I suppose this too will be obvious to me, but, again, at this point I am clueless.
    (5) Is it okay to charge the battery before it is completely drained? They say lithium batteries don't have a memory, but I remember when they were first made available to the public, we were told not to charge them until they are completely discharged and I can't get this out of my head.
    (6) Are cartridges interchangeable? Can I buy cartridges from any manufacturer/supplier and use them on my Volt battery?

Thanks again for all the help and support.

    (1) I vape a lot.
Most of us vaped like lab monkeys when we first started. Some of us still do :) Listen to your body. It'll give you a headache or some side effect if you're overdoing the nic. Cigartettes deliver nic to your lungs with tar. The tar sticks and you get longer nic. With vaping you absorb it in your mouth and nose. Try exhaling through both for a better experience.

    (2) I wish I had ordered 18, or 24 mg cartridges. I would probably vape less if I was getting more nicotine per hit.

You can order juice at higher nic levels to refill your carts. I would suggest KickBassVapor. Reasonably priced premium juices.
    (3) I don't know when I need to change the cartridge. I supposed it will be obvious to me, but at this point I am clueless.

You'll know when the taste and vapor diminishes
    (4) I don't know when I need to charge the battery. I suppose this too will be obvious to me, but, again, at this point I am clueless.

Charge when your battery dies. You have a backup. If you're going out and want two completely charged batteries you can charge one to full before it's completely drained.

    (6) Are cartridges interchangeable? Can I buy cartridges from any manufacturer/supplier and use them on my Volt battery?
