I've only been vaping for about a week. I really want to try to make my own ejuice. I have carefully made a list of what I want to purchase from One Stop but I'm afraid I'll buy all these things and then not do well making my own. The only juice I've tried is R4Y and cappuccino and I like them both. Should I stick to premade juices until I have more experience? Also, anyone know how to make a DIY version of R4Y?

go for the gold!

seriously, it can be amazingly simple. For some flavors, I just add 20% flavoring, a predetermined amount of VG without nicotine, and another predetermined amount of VG with nicotine.

(amounts determined with This, it's a calculator for DIY juice)

As far as RY4, The Perfumer's Apprentice makes an RY4 flavoring, Here, as well as a bunch of others.

We have the Ry4 flavoring on its way to us, I will let you know when it arrives.

Mixing your own when your new to vaping, is almost better then later. Why? When you first come off analogs or cigs your taste buds are not where they should be. This means you can make flavors stronger to compensate for the low tasting buds! The longer your off the analongs the better your taste buds generally work, and the less flavor you will need as they recover. So you can make your flavoring lighter as you go.

How many flavors have you tried so far Sahara4evr?

Thanks o4 and Kimerpuff for the information. I'm glad One Stop is getting the R4Y because I want to get everything from one place. I bought some Loranne's flavorings at a hobby store, just a couple (watermelon, apple, butterscotch and orange cream). I threw a few thing together but I didn't really like the results. I was just playing around but it got me thinking that I might need more experience before I started DIY in earnest. I probably can't go wrong if I have the R4Y though. Please let me know when you get it in.

Well I have to say that going the DIY route is terrific and once you get it down you will probably never go back. For one it's incredibly cheap, me and my girlfriend vape about 30ml each a week and it costs maybe $35 a month to make liquid for both of us, buying it runs about $100 a month.

I would suggest at first try making a base liquid that you are happy with, people seem more concerned with flavors but I think that is the most important step. I settled into a 24mg mix with 80% PG and 20% VG which we enjoy and the girlfriend say's produces more vapor then even the v4l wow mixes.

If you feel intimidated with it you can also try some of the many recipes floating around and on some of the websites. Just start with small batches and find recipes you like. I guarantee once you get it down you'll be glad you did and you'll be saving a lot of money.

true as well. When I run out of nic juice, I'll end up buying everything in bulk, which will amount to a total of under a dollar per week of juice. (about 2 mL per day)

in addition, the calculator I posted has a handful of recipes included. If you can measure, you can DIY juice :2cool:

This is the advice I give a lot of people who are new to DIY. You can start out small and simple, as long as you have an unflavored base to work with, you can create a lot of single flavored e-liquids very easily by using 10-20% flavoring added to your unflavored e-liquid.

When you decide to start mixing two or three flavors, you can start to find the challenges of DIY, but it's a lot like cooking, or anything, practice makes perfect. You can start out mixing small batches (1ml) at a time, to perfect your recipes, then when you have the right combination and ratios of flavors, you can increase your batch size to 10-15ml.

I'm new to vaping too and jumped right in with DIY.

Defiantly mix very small amounts to start with. My 1st set of batches vaped good but the flavor was not really up to par. I decided to just deal with them so as not to waste any. They are almost gone now so this weekend I will make up a new set and I hope to improve on my 1st attempt.

My next batch I will mix for a total of 2ml -- Makes the math fairly simple and 2 ml is enough to get a good taste.

I ordered 48mg 100% PG. 48mg makes for simple dilution to 24mg or 16mg or 12mg.

I use the flavoring and VG (from Wal-Mart) to make the dilution but I should have bought some extra 0mg PG. so I could have tweaked the PG/VP percents more precisely. My next order will include some.
