Hi,
Recently purchased a e-cig from a local mom and pop store.

Pretty satisfied seems like it's doing good to help with the cigarette pangs.

I do have a few questions, I see a lot of abbreviations and such so I'm just wondering if someone would be kind enough to give me a frame of reference with my set up.
I have currently a Vision Spinner battery with
An iClear16 "tank" with a 2.1ohm atomizer? ( I think thats what the part in the middle with the wicks is called.)
Basically I am not super satisfied with the
tank I have now it seems like it gets flooded easily, which could be entirely my fault, and if I use it too often the vapor seems hot and unpleasant sort of tickles my throat.

So like I said earlier I'm sort of looking for a frame of reference and maybe some upgrade options/opinions.
Thanks in advance!

to ecf mettle. So glad you are here. I started out on cigalikes and quickly moved to the ego style battery. It didn't take me long to leave that behind for the MVP2. It has a fantastic battery life and is very easy to use. It is a very dependable backup now because I moved on again. I think I am at my happy place now.

Being new, here is a great place to get some information (although you can ask anyone on ecf and they will be kind enough to help).

As far as finding some great deals.......(might even find a great July 4th sale)

I personally was not please with the atomizer you are currently using. I went to the evods and the ProTanks. You will find a bunch of different kinds. I am always on a budget and looking for good deals, so I purchased a lot of stuff from Fasttech.com. It takes a bit to get it in the mail but the savings are well worth it in my opinion.

I know at first all the new information can be very overwhelming. I didn't mean to dump even more but I am just trying to help. If you have any questions, ecf is a wonderful place to be. The people here are second to none. I don't know what I would have done with out some of the fantastic people I have met.

Good luck to you. I hope to read future posts about your successful vaping. :)

Hi mettle,

Welcome to ECF, you've come to the right place for information.

I used the iclear16s for awhile ... curious, how long have you been using that same coil? The part in the middle w/the wicks...if you clean it after every tank, or couple of tanks the coil will last longer, but once the get gunked up, they need to be replaced (just that middle part, not the whole thing). If you think this may be your problem, youtube search for "cleaning and dry burning iclear16"
I noticed when my friends would try mine they would hold it..i don't know horizontal, like a cigarette, and I think that caused it to flood on them. If you're holding like a cigarette, maybe hold it vertically like a.... clarinet. You don't want the juice over that clear stopper thing above the wicks and below the mouthpiece.

But like Rat2Chat2, I grew tired of them and progressed to the protanks...and then...and then...(it's a deep rabbit hole, tread lightly....or not :) )

Good luck on your vaping journey!

I'm new as well! Welcome! Just got to get post count up to 5... lol

And welcome to you too. :) I can remember the first time I posted on ecf. It was my first forum experience and I was scared to death. I've been here over a year and I guess I pretty much got over being nervous. :D Glad you are both here. :)

Hi mettle,

You said:

...if I use it too often the vapor seems hot and unpleasant sort of tickles my throat.

When I stated to vape, as soon as the vapour hit my throat it hurt and I would cough like hell! The smoking had left my throat red-raw you see, and it took about a week I think for my throat to recover.

So if you're only just off of the stinkies your body will need a little time to recover. Only then will you know if it's a tickle associated with what you are vaping, and know if you like the taste of what you are vaping too!

Also water. Drink lots of water as vaping can dehydrate a little.

Hello and welcome mettle!

Below are some blog posts by ECF member Baditude that I highly recommend for someone new to vaping.

1. A Good Starter's Setup for a Beginning Vapor
2. Advancing Up the Vaping Ladder with Egos and Mods
3. Proper terminology - Is it a carto, a tank, or what? A Guide to Juice Attachments.
4. Something Safe for Cinnamon and Citrus Flavors

And here's another thread that further addresses some of the terminology you will find people using throughout this site: One Stop Reference Shop For New and Experienced Vapers

As far as "tanks" go, I wasn't super satisfied with the iclear 16 either. It came as part of an ego spinner kit I had purchased for a family member and I tried it out before I gave it to her. I had also purchased a Mini Protank for her (glass bottom fed tank that I have and like).

My issues with the iClear 16 were as follows:
1. too restricted airflow - sometimes felt like sucking a golf ball through a straw
2. too many "dry hits" - related to #1 above
3. plastic tank - unable to vape "tank cracking eliquid - i.e citrus flavors"
4. it is "top fed" vs "bottom fed" resulting in a much warmer vape. I prefer a much cooler vape. Personal preference.

There are many different options for tanks, so read through some of the links I listed above and you will see some of the many different options. As a side note - Kanger has recently come out with airflow control for all of their tanks - including the Mini Protank. It is wonderful! You can purchase the new tanks w/airflow control and/or you can upgrade all your previously purchased mini protanks and protank v2 tanks with the upgraded aerobase.
