that "sometimes it's easier to do it myself" thing came back to bite you didn't it?

show them how, and cut 'em off.

I have elderly parents, try being the family nurse and daughter, and this last summer I said "enough", it' was becoming a full time job, a ban on technology, got a new cable company (DISH had me over there at least once a week and put the support phone numbers in big text on their 'fridge)

Hired home healthcare for ever day, I was cooking every day, cleaning, taking them to both of their 10 specialists appointments which I still do but that's OK I don't trust their health to anyone else and a WHOLE bunch of other crazy stuff. Mom will call from the Library and can't start her car. Ok "push the brake and turn the wheel to the right" vah lah! So we had a "little talk about learned helplessness and I set some BOUNDARIES"

But it had become my life, we lived 1/8th a mile away not it's the next suburb only and i get to be their daughter again and have "quality" time with them and a LIFE.

So enable them to care for them themselves, and set some boundaries, and be happier. It's OK. There I gave you permisson. Carry on!! :)

good luck

I have the same problems. I like converting people to vaping, but some of them can be really needy. They even get upset at me when something does not go their way, like it's my fault they can't order their own supplies and do basic ecig maintenance. I just act like I'm too busy now to worry about them and they convert back to smoking. It sucks, but I'm not here to baby them. They need to learn or get out the way.

Sounds like the people that rant endlessly about a nanny state...

OK so I got my aunt and uncle Two Vision spinner 1,100mah with a protank mini3... and they ALWAYS seem to have issues with them!! I got go over their house multiple times a week to maintain their Ecigs!!! When they are working, they LOVE the things, but when they dont work... Its like I have to hear hell from them, and then they wanna return the things.. I knew I would have this issue at first.. but they STILL seem to find new problems, or even make the same mistakes over and over again! Im getting tired of constantly having to hear problems. I am a sensitive person so I feel like whenever something is wrong, its MY fault and responsibility.

Personally I use a vision spinner 2- 1,600mah , and I have a protank mini2, protank mini3 and an aerotank. I NEVER seem to have as many issues as they do... Is the vision spinner 2 THAT much different than the spinner 1?

I just made a list that they can refer to if they are having particular issues.

I dont know what else to do... Its not my fault if they continue to make the same mistakes over and over... its not my fault if they keep forgetting to turn the e-cig off when its in their pocket or purse. What should I do in the situation? I think I still have the opportunity to take them spinners back and get refunds. Is this the best plan of action? Is there even a more fool proof model that the can get without having it cause so many issues with them?

I figured the vision spinner and kanger ptotank are the cheapest and best bang for your buck... and easy to maintain once you figure it out. Are there any better ones for people I would hate to say... Idiots?

I hear ya! It reminds me of when computers first came out and heaven forbid anyone found out you were computer savvy. People need to take responsibility for their life and decisions period. Tell them youtube is full of videos that will show them how things work including ecigs.

I love the Kanger tanks, I have evods, Protanks, and now Aeroflow tanks and love them. I'm the kind of vaper that likes the fill and vape devices. When the juice starts turning dark (usually 1 to 2 weeks) I replace the coil, they're cheap enough. Especially when I compare it to how much smoking used to cost me.

Next time they call, tell them you can't come over for a while and in the meantime they can check out this forum and youtube. It's time to cut the umbilical cord my friend.

I feel you bud, I got almost all of my family to make the switch. Now for some reason it's me who does all their rebuilding ( and I love rebuilding, just had enough of doing small heads now ) and maint. etc. Not to mention when thy found out I was DIYing my own juice... Now they hit me up for that too. But as Lori said, I don't mind doing it as long as they are vaping and not smoking any more.

Hi, find them 2 each 650 ego style batteries with a charger and wall plug for each. Get them several GS-H2 clearomizers and a bag of replacement coils. and take back the variable voltage batteries to use yourself. Teach them to rinse out the cleros after each tankful and find a couple of reading glasses hard cases to carry their gear in. Then don't answer the phone. They will figure it out. Some people just need the K.I.S.S. principal applied to them :( Keep on Vaping on :)

I've run into the same issues myself with family and I've noticed, as have others here, that it seems to be the non-technical minded folks that have issues. As a long-term professional in the IT field I can assure you that it isn't you, your fault, or your lack of commitment to them. Some people have it set in their minds that if it is technical in any fashion, be it computer hardware, software, phones, VCR's, DVR's, TV's, or mods, that they 'just can't' and therefore they do not even try. It is easier to get a "guru" or a "tech" to do it for them. Usually we techies get frustrated and just go do it and its done. My philosophy is teach... explain, demonstrate, and then have them do it... Once they actually see what it is they are doing wrong it helps them to remember how you fixed it.

Common issue in our house was leaking tanks. We both had ProTanks at the time and no matter what the other ones leaked. Instead of simply taking it apart, cleaning it, reassembling it and refilling it I asked "What were you trying to do when this happened? and then "Show me." Ends up she was twisting the tank correctly but not at the base. The base was still on the battery. Base and Tank would separate and she'd have liquid everywhere. She'd put it back together but not clean it. So old leaked out juice would still be in the contact well. (smh). I demonstrated how to remove the tank (preferably upside down just in case), where the o-rings were (to check them for problems), how to replace a coil and then how to refill the tank and reassemble it. I've not had to refill or clean one of hers in over six months now.

Most people feel intimidated by technical people, and it doesn't help that many of us get this attitude that the less technical are somehow not as bright (i.e. idiots). They have gifts in areas that we may be lacking and in those areas they may find us to be idiotic. Who knows? But a little patience, an attitude of service and the willingness to educate is the way to help actually resolve recurring issues. As for the boundaries... I agree. Just because they call at a certain time doesn't mean you are obligated to respond immediately. I ignore phone calls from family during times that my attention should be elsewhere. if I have other plans, I tell them that. They understand and just ask that I come by when I can. I got them started vaping and I do feel its my responsibility to help but I don't have to do it all for them or hold their hands. I can teach them and let them walk on their own.

Good luck OP! :)
