Provari has a lot of built-in safeguards to cover most eventualities. But, being mindful of proper battery handling and carto/atty issues will go a long way in making your vaping safer. There is a great write up here on battery safety. I don't have the link handy but it should be easy to find and is a very good read. Since your Provari provides the ability to test carto/atty resistance, before vaping on a newly replaced carto/atty, it's a good idea to check the resistance. If it is a low resistance (<1.5 ohm), lower your voltage to something like 3.2 or so and work it up to a comfortable vape. If the cart/atty resistance is a little higher (>2 ohm) you can probable set your voltage to 3.7 or so and work up to what you need. But, if your carto/atty is reading under an ohm, I'd toss it rather than attempting to vape.

The Provari is a great choice. I've put all my other pvs aside; haven't touched 'em since I got my Provari. I've got a mini sub tank on mine, from Mom and Pops Vapor Shop. The only thing I don't like is the thumb screw but that's just aesthetics; it makes it REALLY easy to refill. And that thing is STURDY; it ain't comin' off by accident.

My first tank was a Smoketek DCT which I had leaking problems with. I then purchased a Phiniac tank and couldn't be happier. Phiniac tanks are made from Pyrex glass, which makes for a better vape IMO and they will not crack. No leaking with them. They also sell a tank tool which makes it very easy to insert the carto and fill the tank. I recommend you check out the Phiniac tanks.

Thanks for this. I have only smokteks right now and have had lots of leaks (due to carto failure not tank seals) but none yet using them with the vari. Probably a matter of time, possibly less so now that I have precise voltage control, but I've been eyeballing those phiniacs as well as the tool. Was wondering how well they work with the vari so thanks for sharing. I am saving up for my first one now (still recovering from the vari purchase :D )

I have been looking at the Phiniacs. Not sure which size I'd like yet. Guess it depends on the size cartos I want to use. How long do your cartos last in the tanks? I'm sure it depends on a lot of different things

Phiniac are nice looking and super good quality but are too expensive for me for I like multiple tanks with many flavors in rotation. I already spent way too much on this stuff. The DCT tanks are good and cheap. At least all the ones I bought they never leaked on me. And if the o-rings wear out many vendors sell replacements. The ones i've bought came with a 1.5 ohm carto with a single hole. I remove them and use a 3.0 single coil with 3 holes prepunched. On a couple of the tanks I got had a crappy drip tip but I just put my own on them.

Not knocking the expensive, cool tanks at all, in fact I'd like to have a few. But, my cheap Smoketech DCT tanks work just fine. I have never had a leak or a problem with them. Their easy to clean, fill, and change carto's. The thing to work out is the carto's you prefer and the your method for getting juice in them. For quite a while I just bought the pre-punched dual coil Smoketech cartos - most had three small holes. Had mixed results with these. On a whim I bought some single coil standard resistance Boges un-punched. I slotted them per PBusardo's video and what a difference that made. I had no idea what I was missing before. Good luck with whatever juice system you choose.

Phiniacs work perfectly on the Provari - using right now. I have two Phiniac tanks now, the XL size. Phiniacs are on sale - 10% off.

I have two XL Phiniac tanks and use single coil Smoketek cartos prepunched with 1 hole. Lasts me about 4 days.

No, not dangerous at all.
If you dont know too much about how voltage and resistance effects current (and heat) then stick around the 3.7 volts until you understand how it all fits together.

While you can still get them, I would get a Odysseus or Penelope from COV if you are in the US.

If you want a really good atomizer/tank combo that will fill all your needs until you can go for one of the above (note: those are just my preferred choices, and that of many other vapers) take a look at the vision clearomizer or stardust (same thing).

After all the others i tried while waiting for the Odysseus to be maufactured and shipped I have been using this and for the $5 it cost is an excellent unit. the only flaw is if you drop it the part that holds the mouthpeice is very thin and breaks but for $5 again you cannot go wrong.

Finally signed up here. Great site ECF! I've had my ego ecig for 8mo now and recently bought the blue LED mini provari. Little scared of that thing but love it. I feel like I just went from zero-60 in 2 seconds! I need a good tank setup now! But I'm not sure where to start. Still exploring my options. This may take a while I guess.

as you can see there are many different opinions, just get a few that wont break the bank and see how you like them.

The Odysseus sells for over $100 but may very well be the only Ady you will ever need. I should have mine soon, go to youtube and watch all of Scott's videos (there are others but I am particular to his) from there I think you will be able to make an educated decision.

Thank you. I do have a clearomizer I used on my ego. I think it is what you are talking about. It's a tank with "wicks" only-no cartos needed. Problem is, it will not fit the provari. The threads of the prov won't reach the threads inside the clearomizer. I tried to use it until I could order a real tank.
