Just bought a Joy 510 and have been using it for 3 days. I have a few questions that have probally been asked a thousand times but I can't find the answers that I'm looking for so I hope you all won't mind answering them again.
1) What is dripping? (have seen that term used in these forums alot)
2) I have noticed that I get some vapors and other times I don't get any vapors then it will start to vapor again. I have the 510 on its side alot so it is that the juice is not getting vaporized?
3) it is best to keep the 510 on its side or can I put it in my pocket like a pen? and if so do I keep the hole up or down? ( I would think the juice would leak out if I kept the hole down).
4) how many times can I fill up the same cart with the same juice or is it a one time use?
5) If I pre fill carts how do I keep them from leaking if I carry them in my pocket, or that a bad idea?

Thanks for any help.

1.) Dripping is dripping 2-4 drops of liquid directly into the atomizer instead having a fluid filled cart. You can either use a blank mouthpiece and remove it each time you want to drip, or get a drip tip that has a bigger hole than the regular carts to allow you to drip without having to pull off the mouthpiece.

2.) If you are using filled carts after a couple of hits sometimes vapor will drop off because more liquid needs to wick into the atty.

3.) At home I leave my PV laying down on the table or desk, and out and about I leave it sitting mouthpiece up in my purse. Either way it can leak occasionally, so you just have to figure out which works best for your device. If you are using an automatic battery having it upright can lead to liquid going into the hole on the battery so you have to be more careful than you do with a sealed manual battery.

4.) You can refill a cart many times. Sometimes the stuffing will get icky and you can pull it out and rinse it in hot water, squeeze it dry in a paper towel, stuff it back in the cart, and refill.

5.) You can pre-fill carts, but they can leak so small plastic bags are your friend :). I find it easier to carry a small bottle of liquid and refill the one I'm using. (though now I drip, so I need to carry a bottle anyway)

Hope some of that helps.

Thank you for the great answers, but it brought up another question. Why drip instead of filling a cart?

Since I don't drip, I can't answer this with any certainty, but let me ask you a question....

Why do some people smoke cigarettes and others smoke pipes or cigars? I think the answers to both of our questions are much the same.

I drip instead of using carts because it's much simpler, less hassle, and less cost.

If you have a drip tip it's easy, just drip 3 drops through the hole in the end and you're set. It takes all of 5 seconds to do. It's less hassle because you don't have to worry about overfilling, 3 drops and you're done. With carts it's easy to overfill, the filling packs down and doesn't contact the bridge in the atomizer so they quit working right so you have to replace the filler. With dripping, you spend $1 or $2 on a drip tip and you're done. I've been using the same drip tip for about 9 months. With carts you either have to buy new ones or buy filler to keep putting in them.

I think most of us who have been vaping a while just don't want the bother of carts since they don't offer much advantage over dripping. I drip when at home and use cartomizers when I'm out'n'bout.

When I first got my drip tip just to try it (they're cheap), I thought the same thing. However, one night I was sitting aroud watching TV and I wanted to vape a little bit. Here's the deal with a cart. You first fill and it's little wet for a while. Then it's really good. After that it's a little dry for a while. In this case, I knew it was a little dry. So, I could take a few dry hits or fill it and take a few wet hits. That's when I pulled out the drip tip again. It was an AHA moment. Dripping is consistent.

If you drip lets say 3 drops how long will that last? I guess I'll use an example, it takes me about a 30 minute drive to work, if I take a hit about every 2 minutes thats roughly 15 hits will 3 drops last the drive to work or will I have to add more drops?

15 would be stretching it for 3 drops. Don't drip and drive either. :)
