Newbie with a Nebula - Throat hit is incredibly harsh

Hey guys,

I just received my Nebula from vapornine.com. I charged the batteries, topped off the cart that came in the starter kit box, and went out to smoke with my smoking buddies.

The draw is nice, and feels like a normal cigarette. The throat hit is incredibly harsh. So much so that I had to stop using the nebula because I was coughing all the time.

I am a pack a day smoker of Marlboro Lights and the hit from the Nebula had me coughing like crazy. I don't direct inhale, so I wonder if I am doing something incorrect.

Any advice?

I've been vapin for almost 5 months. When i got my nebula carts i stuck one on my usb mod, took a big draw and almost coughed up a lung.
I think the key is slow, longer easy draws. After 30 minutes mine settled down some. Then when i started topping off with my own liquid it got even smoother.

Ah you'll get used to it. The funny thing is in the old days the complaint used to be the opposite.

actually, this is one of the features of the Nebula which helped me to fall in love with it. I'm just one of those who craves a heavy, non-forgiving throat hit. Once you use up the cart and start refilling it with your own liquid you can of course choose to use a more forgiving liquid with a lighter throat hit...that will help to ease it up a bit...also until you get used to it just take much shorter drags is all.

I don't direct draw ether never have, I always pull the puff into my mouth and then take the hit down. I take a short quick puff to fire up the atty and then a few slow drags, you don't mention what kind of juice your using, could be the juice, try another I have some that are nasty and some that are smooth. You will get it just a little trial and error.

Never used your device but new atomizers have a primary on them that tastes like crap until you burn if off. I would drip a couple of drops of liquid on the atomizer to help break it in.

Hey Dan,

I am using the Carolina Tabacco, Vanilla Vice and Watermelon from V9 in 16mg. The vapor seems to be really hot and it scorches the back of my throat.

When I realized I couldn't jump right into the Nebula straight off analogs, I pulled out a Marlboro Light and went back to the old school method of nicotine acquisition. I almost can't even feel the throat hit from those, but the Nebula was unbearable.

I have been experimenting with lengths of draws and such, and the watermelon is definitely smoother. I am afraid that I am a long way away from being comfortable with these things.

You'd have to work mighty darn hard to generate anything close to an unbearable, throat-scorching
amount of heat. And considering that you have "experimented with lengths of draws and such", it is
extremely unlikely that the throat irritation you are experiencing is being caused by excessive heat.
Odds are, it's the PG that's giving you problems.

Some people simply can't tolerate the PG (and switch to a non-PG juice). Others, like myself, simply
get used to it. When I first started vaping, I can remember the first several hits of the morning being
extremely harsh. So much so, that if I did not take ridiculously light hits, then I would cough profusely.
Nonetheless, I rarely experience this harshness and coughing anymore.

I don't remember if you tried a different cart or not, I know one of mine seemed to vape very hot right away, I put that one to the side and have been using two others since, (for different flavors) I also notice that when I tried dripping more than a few drops in the attys they would get hotter faster so I have been dripping 2-3 drops an hour or so. I do know that when these carts are done they run hot, I try to keep my carts wet but not to wet to get the most life out of them.

Casper if the throat hit is overly harsh then maybe some of the cart material is going in the atomizer hole....that will give you very harsh burning sensation in the back of your throat. You have to open it up and with a toothpick gently nudge the cart material away from the center hole.

Ah, interesting. I just ordered some non-PG juice. I am hoping that is what the problem is. I really enjoy the experience except for the part where it feels like my throat is being ripped apart by a cheese grater.

Dan - I have tried three different carts now; each with a different flavor. Watermelon still hurts, but not as much as Vanilla and Carolina.

I have problems with straight up PG liquid- I find that if I cut it 50% with VG my throat thanks me.

I happy to report that I am now used to the PG smoke juice and loving the Nebula. I am so glad that I stuck with it, because I am now heading on day 4 of not smoking analogs. I have started working out again and taking the dog on three mile walks on the weekends. I feel great!

I also have Smoking Everywhere Gold which requires a longer drag but its a nice throat hit with plenty of vapor. I bought the Nebula because of the atty in the cart and because it doesnt looking like a cigarette and it doesnt appear to leak like the SE GOLD but im back on the SE Gold cause i cant take the hit.

Yup, just got used to it. I get tons of vapor, but the hit was rather harsh. As of right now it doesn't hurt at all.

Fynak if your not getting alot of vapor your doing something wrong....A lot of these carts come half empty. SO before you start open it up and always make sure the cart is wet...not pooling with liquid but slightly wet/moist. So top off a little and add some from the battery end as well. This will make the harshness go away and vape like a steam train. If you add too much eliquid...just blow it out on a napkin. After every 40-50 hits add 4-5 drops from the battery end...to keep the cart moist.
