Hi

I am new to this forum and also new to e-cigs, I have bought a joyetech 510 T with refillable carriage and some 18mg tobacco flavor liquid.

So far I am finding that it helps me to resist the real cigarettes but I am finding that I feel as though I am almost suffocating when in inhale the vapor.

Is my technique wrong? I am taking a long deep draw and inhale as I would a real cig.

Please advise best use of e cig as I really want to stick with this.

thanks

vaping is different than smoking, it's a different feeling for your lungs to process. Your feeling of suffocation will pass, just like it did when you started smoking analogs. In a week you will be able to breathe like you did before you picked up cigarettes. You can also try taking shorter drags, slower pulls, just try different techniques to see if it will help. There is no exact correct way to vape, it's different for everyone. Congrats on kicking the analogs!

I mix my own liquid and the ratio that works for me is 80 percent PG and 20 percent VG. Some people seem to be sensative to the PG or even allergic to the PG. I dont think it can hurt you but I am not a doctor. If it continues I would look into trying an all VG juice or at least cut it. Did you get the juice online or buy it locally? I am sure you can ask the vendor if it is 100 percent PG. Most juices are cut with a little VG as it provides more vapor production but it decreases a throat hit.

I bought it online, I wasn't aware that it could be bought in a store, I only have a sample size at the moment but have just ordered a small bottle each of VG and PG to see if that helps.
Thanks so much for your help.

So far apart from the suffocation feeling it seems to be working for me. I had a real cig when I woke up and since then have only used my e cig for rest of the day with now withdrawal feelings :)

Some cities have local shops that you can buy from. There is always mall kiosks, but they are usually rip offs. After you thread count is up and you can post in other areas, there is local forums for particular areas. A lot of time people ask in the local forums if anyone knows of local shops. In my local PA forum I found a store that is great and fairly close to me.

Inhale by pulling the vapor slowly into the mouth only. Hold it there a second or two, then inhale. Exhale through the nose.

This is done because vapor (mist) and smoke are different, and the nicotine is not absorbed in the same way or at the same speed.

Also try refill liquids with different strengths. At first you might need 36mg (3.6%) in order to get enough nic. If you feel dizzy or otherwise know it's too strong, reduce the strength by mixing it. A very simple way to do that is by adding 'Glycerine, USP' from a pharmacy. Or in Europe, 'Glycerine, BP' or 'Glycerine, EU' that you can get at a chemist.
