Hi to all here. I am only about a month into vaping as an alternative to analogs and I have learned so much from this forum! I have been a fairly heavy smoker for most of the last 40 or so years. I so enjoy the act of smoking and the sensations I get from it, but at the age of 60 a few months ago my doctor diagnosed me with emphysema. I have tried to quit several times in the past, successfully a few times for a year here, six months there, but I started up again because I enjoy it so much. I guess I always knew this day would come but the sense of denial in me has always been very strong. I am finding that vaping is quite pleasurable and have made up my mind to make this attempt at quitting not only successful but my last.

Today I have two questions. I am using Smoktech tanks and eGo Twists and find the combination along with some good e-liquid does a pretty good job. But when using the 6ml UDCT tank, I get a lot of liquid leaking out of the bottom of the carto that comes out around the threads of the battery. Is this normal? Also, the carto comes with a little white soft plastic plug that you have to take out of the top of the tube in order to prime it by saturating the filler material inside. Do I need to place this plug back into the tube before I put the drip tip in? I haven't so far, but I was just wondering what effect putting it in or leaving it out has on the function of the tank.

Thanks in advance for everyone's advice!:)

The leaking is most likely due to the o-ring in the bottom of tank not being tight enough. As far as the plug you do not need that .When you are first installing the carto in the tank you need to put a little juice on the o-ring so that you dont wear it out or shred it.What vendor did you purchase tank from? Here is one I am using and it hasnt leaked once 510 Pro DCTank Combo You should check out Baditudes blog on setting up tank and you should have no problems :)

You may have flooded your carto a bit, and juice is getting into the threads. Not all that uncommon.
I have blown on it in the past and had excess juice come out the bottom. Sometimes that clears it out a bit. On occassion I'll run into a carto that hopelessly floods no matter what I do.
Do you have quite a lot of gurgling when you try to vape?

yea usually from flooding the carto initially when filling it..

you can blow gently through the bottom hole of the carto and try to clear it out... that works for me most of the time.

after a little use, just unscrew and wipe any excess juice from the battery head with a q-tip or something similar.. may need to do this for a little bit until the extra juice clears out

I agree with noi_max - it's much more likely to be a flooded carto than a bad o-ring. And, like noi_max, says: every now and then you get one that floods no matter what you do. I believe that the filler on these things is hand-wrapped, so there's some inconsistency from one carto to the next.

Also, what kind of juice are you using and how many holes are there in your carto? I'm using 60/40 & 70/30 PG/VG juices with the new 3 hole cartos. I haven't had any problems at all with the 60/40, but the 70/30 will occasionally begin to flood if I'm chain-vaping.

WA: I got the tank from MyVaporStore and I can see that the o-ring is not the culprit. It's definitely coming out of the hole in ths bottom of the carto, so I am pretty sure it is flooded. The first time I filled it I had the same problem, but the second fill stayed dry. As noi-max, J-Squared and BostonVape suggested, it appears to be flooded. The e-liquid looks to be unblended pg so that would also point in that direction as, well. I am going to mix it from now on with some some that has some vg content and in the future I will order 70-30. I am using the one hole cartos, but when I am at work, I use a one of the smaller tanks and this one sits at home all day. When I got home the other night and cranked up the big one, I was getting a burnt taste so I took off the tip and added about 10 drops to the filler. That solved the burnt taste issue but it was probably oversaturated and flooded. It was gurgling a lot, but after reading your replies, I have been able to clear it by blowing on it. Seems to be working well now! Thanks for your help everyone!
