Don't have a 510, but as long as it is an atomizer, you should be just fine dripping with it. It won't shorten the life of your atty unless you run it to dry. I found with a 901 that on a completely dry atty, you may need 3 or 4 drips to get you going. After that, 2 usually did the trick. Just look for that dry taste in your vape. Then it's time to drip again. Good luck!

You can drip if you use manual batteries.

And it should be fine for the atty - just don't run the atty totally dry.

Dripping is not recommended for auto batteries. I actually think filling your own cartomizers is even more dangerous for auto batteries since where they might leak is directly above where you can kill or damage an auto battery (the hole in the middle of the threaded end). 510 manual batteries are good ones - totally sealed metal on the threaded end.
