Meanderings from one newbie to another...
I researched e-cigs for hours on end. Decided to try a disposable Apollo to see if I would like it. I liked the whole experience and thought e-cigs were worth a try to quit my 40+ year habit of smoking.
Researched for MORE hours on end. Bought the Greensmoke kit. Nice, but I blew thru the cartos WAY too fast. They just didn't last anywhere near 360 puffs. At that rate, it'd be more expensive than smoking analogs.
Researched for MORE hours on end. Bought an Apollo kit. Eh. Bigger and longer than the Greensmoke and I didn't like any of the carto flavors I bought.
Returned both the Apollo and Greensmoke kits under their 30 day warranties.
Researched for MORE hours on end. Found the ECF forum (OUTSTANDING). I was hoping for someone to help me narrow my search, but received even MORE information. Brain exploded.
Was thinking about a Joye 510 system.
Mad Jack told me to just get the KGo (Hoosier E-Cig Supply) and cartos. Cartos and I weren't playing well together as I had tried several times to refill the Greensmoke and Apollo cartos, to less than acceptable success, and the KGo was kind of big so I was hesitant.
Then another wonderful ECF'er suggested I get the Joye 510 system for when I was out and about, and use the KGo type system for when I was home (who cares what I look like at home?). Duh. I didn't think of that!
I bought the Joye 510 kit, manual batteries. I love the size, shape, color (it's pretty LOL!), and was fairly successful at loading the cartridges with juice. Okay, so yeah, one of my batteries was DOA, but ECigBestSave.com where I bought it was great about sending me a new one. Some times I over loaded the cartridge and that was a pain. Sometimes I didn't get enough juice in it and that too was a pain. Sometimes it produces great flavor and vapor, sometimes, not so much. It's all in the cartridge filling I think and/or if the atty is dirty. In any case, I had to 'fiddle' with it a lot, and that became a pain in the tail. Plus, the battery life really does suck! Having two made it tolerable, but still... A bit too much fiddling for me to stick with it.
So... I bit the bullet and ordered the KGo from Hoosier. I bought the Smok Tech 1.7ohm single coil XL cartomizers at the same time, and learned how to fill them, using a Monoject curved tip syringe (the condom method just didn't get enough juice all the way down the carto).
OMG! EUREKA! It is hands down, the easiest and most 'fiddle free' system to use. I was a pack a day smoker and the KGo lasts me TWO PLUS DAYS on one charge and one carto (depending on how much I vape, I sometimes top off the carto once). THIS is the system to use! (for a newbie)
Since I'm still a newbie, I'm not sure, but I think the KGo is the same as the EGo? But I think the KGo battery is a bit... stronger? More powerful? Whatever it's called.
I'm getting used to the 'magic marker' size of the thing, and don't really care anymore as it just works. Every time, without hassle.
From one newbie to another, just get the KGo, the Smok Tech 1.7ohm single coil XL cartomizers (learn how to fill them, use a curved tip or regular syringe w/needle to get the juice ALL the way down the sides of the carto and let 'em sit, battery connector side down, for 15 minutes or so, on a paper towel to make sure you didn't over fill) and you really are 'good to go'. No fuss, no muss. It just WORKS, and for a REALLY long time between charges and refilling.
THANK YOU ECF Forum and Mad Jack in particular! Tho I'm still smoking a few analogs, I've effortlessly gone from 20-25 cigs a day, to 8. Pretty soon, it'll be ZERO analogs, vaping all the way (if only I can find a menthol I like...)
