Newcomer here, What is the main difference between PG & VG?

I've been using ecigs for about 2 weeks now, I was never a cigarette smoker to begin with and my preferred dose right now is 12mg. I've been wondering what the differences between Propaline Glycol, and Vegetable Glycerin are. I have only ever had PG, and from what i've read its more of a throat hit than VG.

I was wondering if there was anybody here that has tried both PG & VG, and what differences did you notice?

Most juices sold are usually a mixture of PG and VG. Some brands will tell you its mixture like 70/30 or 50/50 pg/vg while others may keep it a secret.

PG is more watery and carries flavor better than VG. It can be harsh if you are vaping at higher wattage/voltage.

VG carry less flavor but it generates much more cloud. The liquid is much thicker than PG and has a slight sweet taste. Note that it requires more wattage to vape 100% VG due to its thickness.

^^^ What M00shie says.

I'm guessing you have some combination of PG and VG in your juice. Depending on where you're getting it, the ratio might be different.

Some people have sensitivity issues to PG (a few have VG issues.) I've been making my own juice for a few months now, and I'd been landing in the 60p/40v range with my mixes. I'm now flipping the ratio because I have a couple RDAs and some Kanger Subtanks, and I'm enjoying the denser cloud that the VG helps produce.

It's all about your preference. Welcome aboard!

Yes, VG = Vapor and PG = Flavor but neither is exclusive. PG will still create vapor and VG can carry decent flavor

Obviously cloud chasers want 100% VG

That slight extra throat hit from PG is more of a dry sensation than a harsh smoke-type throat hit. Vaping juice with PG over 20% always leaves my throat raw and dry almost as if I'd been smoking. Some of us (myself included) are extra sensitive to the effects of PG. Unfortunately PG carries flavor more cleanly and for this reason most flavoring manufacturers produce most of their products in this base since they are aiming for flavor, not vapability, as their main market is candies and foods.

Then many juice makers want their juices to taste their best so they're reluctant to mix them VG heavy as they have to add more flavoring. Usually too much flavor is worse than not enough. This is why I started making my own juice a couple years ago. I know exactly how much PG I'm getting and try to keep it as close to 5-15% as possible. The natural sweetness of VG is a bonus for many flavors of course but now everyone calls me for juice especially as drippers, high wattages, and subohm builds gain popularity. Something like an Arctic tank can cost you more than smoking if you're buying premium juice.
