PG is basically the flavor and the throat hit in a juice, while the VG is what makes the clouds. So the higher the VG the bigger the clouds produced, and the higher the PG the more flavor/throat hit you will get. Just a side note, VG tends to make the juice thicker and if you have to high of VG some tanks could have problems with it.

I prefer PG20%-VG80% (mostly for clouds) and since I have such a high VG the juice tends to lack flavor so I just get 2 extra flavor shots (I buy from Mtbakervapor.com)

The best quality for vaping are Propylene Glycol USP and Glycerin USP. This is pharmaceutical grade in the USA. As far as I know all Glycerin USP is produced from plant materials for economic reasons. At the chemical level Glycerin USP would not contain any recognizable remnants of the source material anyway, whether it be rats or daisies. USP product labeling should be as above with no letters, numbers or symbols between the words. It should be packed in the FDA approved sealed containers for USP with an expriation date. For new Glycerin USP an expiration date of up to five years in the future is not uncommon.

from what I gather VG is "organic" and PG is synthetic

As stated directly below your post bunny, those are 2 different things. The VG is vegetable glycerine (see soppository) and PG is propylene glycol.

Exactly right that the pg is the flavor carrier and throat hit, if the content is too high for you and can give you a burning feeling in your throat.

The vg is what atomizes to give you the vapor production and is slightly sweet. In my case since I vape 80/20% vg/pg I normally have to dial up the flavor content because vg has a tendency to weaken the flavor (I diy my own juice fyi).

Hope that clears part of it up.

Bring on the fog machines!

P.s. I love elipses and parenthesis...
